JM’s Discovery of His True Identity Sets New All-Time High Rating of ‘Pamilya Ko’

Chico’s (JM De Guzman) emotional breakdown after he finally discovered that he is not the legitimate son of Luz (Sylvia Sanchez) but Elena’s (Rosanna Roces) was a hit among viewers nationwide as “Pamilya Ko” scored its new all-time high national TV rating last Wednesday (November 6).

The Kapamilya series recorded 23.5%, compared to its rival show “Wowowin” that got 17.7%, according to data from Kantar Media.

Viewers witnessed the heartbreaking moment when Chico confirmed that Elena was indeed his mother after he discovered the stacks of letters Elena exchanged with his father Fernan (Joey Marquez) in the past. The episode was also packed with intense confrontations as Luz, Elena, and Loida (Irma Adlawan) met face to face, which led to a heated argument among them.

The show’s official hashtag #PamilyaKoKuyaChico also joined the trending topics on Wednesday as it earned praises from netizens.

“Many can relate with Chico. There are illegitimate kids who do not know about their true identity, but deep inside them that feeling that they don’t belong, or they feel unwanted, though they’re shown love by their families,” said YouTube user Coldclearblue.

“The three women in Fernan’s lives were superb! They’re showing off their acting skills! The past, the present, and the one who just borrowed time from him,” another YouTube user Panda Boo Boo commented.

“Genius script with solid characterizations! It’s when you can’t relate to the situation, but the story still resonates with you that makes it a good show,” @3ple3T tweeted.

Meanwhile, Chico continues to unravel the secrets of the past now that he meets his true mother. His pain and struggle, on the other hand, will push Fernan and Luz to stand together and be one in facing all the obstacles their family faces.

Will their family ever be reunited?
