Patrick Demsey Stars in Made of Honor

February 18, 2008 by cd · Leave a Comment

madeofhonor.jpgGrey’s Anatomy hunk Patrick Demsey seems to be the new romantic lead guy in Hollywood today. After the Disney hit comedy “Enchanted” opposite Amy Adams, Patrick is now starring in a Columbia Tristar romantic movie but not as the groom of the bride but as “maid of honor.” It’s kinda like the male version of My Best Friend’s Wedding but with a different twist in the end. I think it’s safe to say that Patrick is the “Julia Roberts” on this film.

My Kuya’s Wedding - Carbon Copy of a Julia Robert’s Movie?

August 23, 2007 by cd · 4 Comments

Is the upcoming Regal movie “My Kuya’s Wedding” starring Ryan Agoncillo, Maja Salvador and Pauleen Luna a copycat of the Julia Robert’s romantic comedy “My Best Friend’s Wedding“? They sound the same but do they have similar loglines?

Here’s the gist:

In My Kuya’s Wedding, Ryan plays the loving brother Jeff who is very close to his sister, Kat, portrayed by Maja. Pushed by poverty and the desire to give his sister a good college education, Jeff goes to Riyadh to work there for four years, vowing to return home only when he has enough money.

Kat’s anticipation of a happy reunion with her Kuya Jeff turns sour right at the airport when she meets his fiancée, Heidi (Pauleen Luna). Kat’s jealousy is heightened when she discovers her brother’s utmost dedication to his girlfriend.

Beset by rage, Kat vows to thwart her brother’s marriage with the aid of her gay bestfriend, Vi (IC Mendoza). But as she plunges herself into her devious plans, Kat finds herself reluctantly falling in love with Aris (Jason Abalos)-a reality show evictee who happens to be Heidi’s brother.

As a result, Kat’s dilemma becomes more complicated as she tries to resist two nagging issues: Her brother’s impending marriage and her refusal to fall in love with the brother of her sworn enemy.

Transformers Movie Review: More Than Meets The Eye

July 2, 2007 by cd · 1 Comment

transformers

Synopsis: The Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.

Starring Emmy winning young actor Shia LaBeouf (Even Stevens, Disturbia), Megan Fox (Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen) and Josh Duhamel (Turistas, Win A Date with Tad Hamilton) and directed by horror guru Michael Bay (The Hitcher, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Amityville Horror).

My Take: We’re so lucky we were able to watch it first than the US viewers, Transformers is indeed the movie event of the year! The special effects were flawless and the action scenes were mega-fast you would want to watch it again because there’s really MORE than meets the eye. Shia LaBeouf is fast-becoming the hollywood heartthrob following the steps of Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves. Living up to its hype, Transformers is on the right track to be the biggest movie of 2007.
