Taylor Swift Sweeps Country Music Awards 2009

Teen sensation, Taylor Swift, was the big winner in the 43rd edition of the Country Music Awards held in Nashville Wednesday night.

The talented Swift bagged the top plum of the night, the Entertainer of the Year award. The young country singer/composer also won the Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the Year awards.

Erik Santos, Live in Singapore!

For the first time, the country’s Prince of Pop, Erik Santos, steps in the home of the famous Merlion, Singapore, this Saturday, November14.

As part of the launch of his new album entitled Erik Santos: The Jim Brickman Songbook, S2S is proud to bring the soon-to-be-Asian-idol to Singapore.

Making a special appearance at Boiler Room, St James Power House and a charity event in the said country, Erik just can’t hide his excitement for his upcoming one of a kind event. “Excited na ako talaga. Though medyo nervous rin kasi syempre iba naman ang audience doon. But I’m really hoping that they will appreciate my music,” the singer expressed.

The said event was organized by S2S, Star Records’ partner label which licensed Erik’s Jim Brickman album for distribution in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan.

After his album launch in Singapore, Erik will invade Japan starting November 22. On November 21, a one of a kind concert with the Bossa Diva Sitti Navarro will happen in Aliw Theater.

On the other hand, the Prince of Pop’s album is inches away from hitting gold. His single “My Love Is Here” is now a radio and TV hit. It is being used in the top-rating series May Bukas Pa and Katorse.

Kris Allen Releases Self-Titled Album

The 8th American Idol, Kris Allen, is releasing his major-label debut album (second overall) on November 17, 2009.

Allen has writing credits on 9 of the 12 tracks on the album, including one solo credit for “Red Guitar”, a song that he wrote prior to participating in American Idol.

Here’s what Preview Alert (Yahoo! Music) said about the songs from the album:

“…big, widescreen adult-alt-pop records reminiscent of VH1 house bands like Carolina Liar, Maroon 5, or Augustana, all full of huge hooky choruses ridiculously readymade for radio. The album is positively teeming with potential hits, and the folks at 19 will have a tough job selecting a follow-up single for the already-released ‘Live Like We’re Dying.’”

In a break with American Idol tradition, Allen’s Idol “coronation song”, “No Boundaries”, was not included on his major-label debut. Instead, a newly recorded version of “Heartless”, covered by Allen during his run on Idol, was included as a bonus track.

This also marks the first time that an Idol winner has been depicted looking off-camera rather than staring back at the listener in their debut album artwork.

Allen previewed three songs from his album “Written All Over My Face”, “Can’t Stay Away,” and “Before We Come Undone” at a Miami Dolphins tailgate-party before their game against the New Orleans Saints on October 25, 2009.

Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas and Beyonce lead the nominees for the forthcoming Monaco hosted 2009 World Music Awards.

Revealed as the first pack of nominees, in the Song of the Year category over the weekend, the three will face off against Kings of Leon (”Use Somebody”) and two songs from David Guetta.

Guetta, first seen in the Miss Universe pageant last summer, is nominated for “When Loves Takes Over” feat. Kelly Rowland and the Akon assisted “Sexy Chick”.

A full list of nominees and performers will be announced at a later date. The fans, however, can now vote for the Song of the Year award at World Music Award website HERE.
