Ramiele’s guesting stint on SOP is part of her promotion for her upcoming concert with Ogie Alcasid dubbed as “The Idol Experience: Ogie Sings with the Idols,” a two-night concert that will also feature Pinoy Idol winner Gretchen Espina and the 11 Pinoy Idol finalists.
The Idol Experience is happening on December 20 and 21(Saturday and Sunday), 8 PM at the Aliw Theater.

1,267 or 88% are in favor of Laarni Lozada of Pinoy Dream Academy season 2 as the better winner while only 181 or 13% are in favor of Gretchen Espina of Pinoy Idol.

]]>The first drawback of “Pinoy Idol” is that whoever handled the selection process made a booboo in choosing lackluster finalists. Sorry to say but none of the 12 finalists presented in the recently concluded show was able to generate that much excitement among the public. We remember someone quipping when they were first presented at Music Museum: “Wala na bang ibang makuha?”
Now that Gretchen Espina has been declared as the “Pinoy Idol” winner, let’s see if she’d be more successful in hitting it big than “Pinoy Pop Superstar” winners Jonalyn Viray, Gerald Santos and Maricris Garcia, none of whom has also emerged to be real big despite their regular exposure in “SOP” and having been given their own albums.

Last August 17, Gretchen Espina from Biliran was proclaimed winner of Pinoy Idol. Second placer was Jayann Bautista of Pampanga and third placer was rocker Ram Chaves.
Our poll started last August 18, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. and ended at 4:00 p.m. today. With 973 respondents, here are the results:
Yes – 139 votes or 14%
No – 642 votes or 66%
Don’t Care – 192 votes or 20%
Some commentors do not even know that Pinoy Idol has been concluded already. Some who voted “don’t dare” don’t watch the show and some of them were disappointed early on that’s why they discontinued watching it. And of course, some of the commentors are fans of the rival show “Pinoy Dream Academy”.
Needless to say, majority of our respondents did not agree with Gretchen Espina’s victory. And that’s the way it is.

Gretchen Espina from Biliran was proclaimed the first Pinoy Idol bagging a total prize amounting to P 5.7 million. But even before she made it to the final three, many eyebrows were raised questioning why she didn’t even place in the bottom three causing the ouster of “better” performers like Robby Navarro, Daryl Celis, Kid Camaya and Penelope.

20-year-old Gretchen Espina from Biliran bested 21-year-old Jayann Bautista from Pampanga in the final two to win the first ever Pinoy Idol. Rocker Ram Chaves ended up third.
It’s interesting to note that Gretchen Espina is the bet of the local version of “Vote for the Worst”, a site dedicated in campaigning for the worst contestant to win the show. The judges’ favorites like Robby Navarro, Penelope, Daryl Celis and Kid Camaya were eliminated earlier in the season.
The Final results night were held at the SMX of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay, City. The Top 24 finalists were grouped in fours and performed with Hajji Alejandro, Jett Pangan, Vernie Varga, and Duncan Ramos. Rock bands Pupil, Calla Lily, and Rivermaya also rendered special performances.
The final two, Jayann Bautista and Gretchen Espina sang the Ogie Alcasid composition “To You” as the coronation song with Gretchen reprising it after being proclaimed as the first Pinoy Idol.
Gretchen won 1 million in cash from SM Supermall, a recording contract from Sony BMG, a management contract from GMA Atist Center, a brand new car courtesy of Mitsubishi, and a condo unit in New Manila courtesy of Avida Towers.

Tehnically, the final three were announced already as Pinoy Idol was taped earlier.
Raymond asked the three judges their choices for the final three. Ogie Alcasid, Jolina Magdangal and Wyngard Tracy were unanimous with their picks that their final three are:
Kid Camaya
Jayann Bautista
Ram Chaves
The judges were inconsistent for the nth time because last night they said it’s Kid and Daryl vying for the title but tonight, they picked Ram instead of the heartthrob from Antipolo.
Anyway, Raymond asked them who they think should be the winner of the first ever Pinoy Idol, this time they have different bets:
Ogie Alcasid picked Kid Camaya to be the first Pinoy Idol.
Jolina Magdangal picked Ram Chaves to be the first Pinoy Idol.
Wyngard Tracy picked Jayann Bautista to be the first Pinoy Idol.
They were all-praises with Daryl in the last episodes but now, no one picked Daryl.
The elimination begins.
Raymond announced that Jayann made it to the final three.

It’s now between Daryl Celis and Ram Chaves.
