Welcome the season of summer with more than 150 Kapamilya stars as ABS-CBN officially launches its highly anticipated summer station ID (SID) dubbed as “Summer ang Simula” this Sunday (Mar 21) on “ASAP XV.”

According to ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management (CCM) Head Robert Labayen, the concept is anchored on the idea of summer as the perfect time to enjoy and at the same time TO gear up for change.

“Every summer day is the perfect time for new beginnings. Every day is a chance to be pro-active, to help save the environment, to promote livelihood, and to look at the world we live in, in a brand new light,” said Labayen.

Witness ABS-CBN’s sought after entertainment and news personalities involve themselves in activities on different platforms SUCH AS of Boto Mo, I-Patrol Mo, Bayanijuan, and other ABS-CBN Foundation programs like Sagip Kapamilya, Kapit Bisig sa Ilog Pasig, and E Media.

Inspired by the colors and images of the art technique called a collage, all of their campaigns and summer activities form different images which later on become part of one final canvass that paints a better world for the Filipino.

The song “Summer Ang Simula” features “Pinoy Dream Academy” Grand Star Dreamer Yeng Constatino and Kean of Callalily. It is an original song written and composed by ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management team: words by Edsel Misenas and music by Lloyd Corpuz, Odon Aspiras and Jordan Constantino, produced by Jonathan Manalo for Star Records.

Though the search was successful, the reunion was not quite as expected. She found out that her father has another family, where she has four half-siblings. This discovery hindered them from ever really mending their relationship. Her need for a father figure probably plays a part in her choice of men. Though born in the US, Hermes is pure Pinoy. He was born to Filipino parents and moved back to Manila at the age of 2. He stayed with his mom, as his dad was based abroad. He went to the States only for occasional visits to his father, who was then working for a US-based electronics company. Later on, he discovered that they were his dad’s second family. Yet, he bears no ill feelings towards his dad. He prides his father for being a dependable person and a good provider. Flunking the NCLEX twice pulled him down to the point of depression. He yearns for his big break, and made a huge step towards it by flying in from San Diego, California just for an audition in his homeland.

Johan is no stranger to the world of reality TV. He was able to join Starstruck, but was the fourth to be shipped out of the talent search. “When there’s a will, there’s a way.” Such is the driving principle in Patria’s life. When her family had nothing to eat, she joined a pizza-eating contest and brought home a box of pizza for her family. Patria has no qualms about asserting herself. Just try to call her by her first name and expect an instant reprimand. Her job as a medical representative requires her to travel a lot to meet her quota, with hustling and shoving just part of the job description, but this does not stop her. A consistent achiever, Rica was the pride of his teachers. Although he excelled in his academics, he always fell short of his dad’s approval. His sexual orientation was always a tangible obstacle, but he refused to be daunted. Instead, he took this as a challenge and pushed himself to prove them wrong. Rica took it a step further as he left home to pursue his college education in Manila. A blue-blooded Atenean, he graduated with a degree in BS Math. It was in college that he became involved with Doll House, a movement supporting the third sex. It was also during this period that he became a she, with the help of hormone pills. To be able to afford this luxury, Rica tutored Math in an academic center. Rica now works as an IT consultant for a big company. For someone who grew up in a non-conventional family set-up, Sam is a well-adjusted gal. She grew up with her mom, since her parents parted ways early. Though a lawyer, her mom was the cool type, and Sam considers her mom as her closest friend. One anecdote that shows this is the time she wanted to have her ear pierced. She walked up to her mom to get her opinion on the cuter option: one piercing or two? Other moms would probably balk at the idea, but not Sams’ mom (who chose two, by the way). At the end of the day, both mother and daughter had ear-piercings and a day full of memories. Sam is not totally isolated from her dad, being able to see him once in a while. She has one other sibling, plus two half-siblings with her dad. She has grown accustomed to the fact that he now has a new life and has no hang-ups about it.

Instead of hiding under her shell, Sam decided to bloom and grow. At the age of 10, Sam was already exposed to the modeling scene. She has starred in several TV commercials, and her confidence brought her to try out for last year’s MYX VJ Hunt. Though she was not able to bag the top prize, she refuses to be daunted. Sam is no stranger to pressure, after all. As a student of fashion design, Sam has to constantly come up with original and unique clothes. Not only does she come up with original creations, but she can also sew her own clothes! The pressure to develop new ideas is always present, but this does not hold her back. She just keeps on moving forward, grabbing whatever opportunities that come her way. Sam oozes with creativity, something which she can share with her fellow housemates.

Though her activities peg her as the extrovert, Sam admits she is quite timid amongst acquaintances. She prefers to be in the background, content with being the follower as she adjusts to her surroundings. With close friends, though, she allows herself to shine and is able to step up as a leader.

Life became more challenging when he migrated to the US to be with his family. He struggled with speaking in English and had a difficulty communicating with people around him. Tom finished college with a degree in Digital Animation, but still he couldn’t get a job in this field. He flew to Hongkong to pursue his passion, but instead he found romance which was unfortunately short lived.
