Mega Manila and Total Urban Luzon household audience shares from June 1 to 30, 2011 show GMA-7′s newscasts besting competing programs from other stations.

The Kapuso Network’s flagship primetime newscast 24 Oras, which recently won the Bronze Award in the News or News Feature category at the 32nd Telly Awards in New York City, USA, was the clear winner in Mega Manila with 37.5 share points compared to TV Patrol, which only managed 32.9.

In Luzon—which makes up 77 percent of total television households nationwide—24 Oras’ 36.7 share points again outclassed TV Patrol’s 33.6.

Saksi, which also won the Bronze Award in the same category at the recent Telly Awards, dominated ABS-CBN’s Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) and TV5′s Aksyon Journalismo in Mega Manila with 32.8, 29.2 and 13.6 share points respectively.

The Kapuso Network’s late night newscast led by 3.6 points against SNN and 19.2 points against Aksyon Journalismo. Luzon ratings figures also show Saksi, with 32.8, topping SNN’s 29.4 and Aksyon Journalismo’s 13.2.

On Saturdays and Sundays, 24 Oras Weekend continued GMA News’ dominance–posting 32.3 share points in Mega Manila as against ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol Weekend’s 23.5. 24 Oras Weekend also led in Luzon with 31.9 compared to TV Patrol Weekend’s 24.9.

24 Oras, featuring the tandem of Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez, is still the most-watched primetime news program in Mega Manila. Willing Willie, on the other hand, with Shalani Soledad‘s debut as co-host of Willie Revillame, was tied with 24 Oras Monday night. The two programs were able to beat the new TV Patrol featuring the comeback of Korina Sanchez and Noli de Castro.

Meanwhile, Magkaribal ended its run last Friday night topping Mega Manila’s primetime race. Imortal is back at no. 1 Monday night.

Charice shared that the house in Tagaytay is her surprise gift to her mom last Mother’s Day. She showed some appliances and stuff that she bought and said that she couldn’t ask for more.

According to the report, the primetime newscast of the Kapuso Network garnered 30.3 rating points for the entire 2009, much higher compared to its rival newscast’s 25.4. Based on the January to December 2009 AGB Nielsen Mega Manila TV household ratings data, 24 Oras also topped the News and Public Affairs category.

The second leading News and Public Affairs program for 2009 is also from GMA-7, namely Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.

Imbestigador takes fourth place with 24.8 rating points.

Mega Manila TV household ratings data for the top News and Public Affairs programs for January 2010 also show 24 Oras with a comfortable 3.2-point lead over the rival newscast (29.7 against 26.5). Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho is close behind with 24.1 rating points.

Recently awarded with the Ani ng Dangal state recognition for its New York Festivals Gold World Medal-winning coverage, the report from GMA-7 pointed out that 24 Oras has been the leading newscast since taking the lead in the period November 22 to December 31, 2004.

Other GMA News and Public Affairs programs also had a banner 2009— Born to be Wild was able to beat Probe Profiles (5.8 against 4.9); OFW Diaries topped Trip na Trip (4 against 3.3); and Reporter’s Notebook bested The Correspondents (6.3 against 6.1).

The said report also listed the GMA News and Public Affairs programs that performed well, based on AGB Nielsen Mega Manila TV household ratings data for January 2010. I-Witness beat XXX (7 against 5.9); Reporter’s Notebook topped The Correspondents (7.3 against 4.6); Born to be Wild bested Probe Profiles (7.6 against 3.5); OFW Diaries trounced Trip na Trip (4 against 2.9); and late night newscast Saksi also bested its rival (9.5 versus 6.7).

Meanwhile, GMA-7′s morning show, Unang Hirit, emerged as the preferred morning show from 2005 up to 2010, based on the latest available AGB Nielsen data.

AGB Nielsen is considered to be the widest subscribed and the industry’s recognized ratings provider.

Incidentally, the case ABS-CBN filed against AGB Nielsen for specific performance and damages for alleged infiltration of panel homes was dismissed by the courts last January 2010.

Mega Manila TV Ratings: Zorro, Tayong Dalawa and 24 Oras are Vying for No. 1 originally appeared on Starmometer on July 18, 2009.

Rosalinda‘s pilot episode registered a dismal 26.3% in Mega Manila, the 4th lowest GMA pilot of a primetime series in 5 years. Looking at the brighter side, the Carla Abellana starrer premiered better than All About Eve‘s 26.1% last March 9, 2009, Atlantika‘s 25.5% last October 3, 2006 and Adik Sa ‘Yo‘s 25.4% last June 8, 2009 (Please take note that All My Life is not considered a primetime series).

To add insult to injury, Rosalinda was beaten by it’s rival shows Only You which garnered 27.5% and Tayong Dalawa which registered 31.7%. 24 Oras ruled the primetime race with 32.3% followed by Tayong Dalawa.

In an interview by 24 Oras, Nicole expressed her interest to do a collaboration with Lea Salonga someday. She said she admires the Broadway actress and other Filipino talents who are prominent in the States right now.

In an interview by Ginger Cornejero of TV Patrol World, Nicole also expressed her interest to sing the Philippine National Anthem in Manny Pacquiao‘s upcoming bouts. She also revealed that she was being considered to play a role in a Hollywood movie starring Sylvester Stallone and Manny Pacquiao. The still unconfirmed project is still on its casting stage, but nevertheless, Nicole feels honored when a script was sent to her for consideration.

30,000 to 50,000 people are expected to troop the Doll Domination concert this Thursday, June 11, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. The Pussycat Dolls are excited to meet their Filipino fans once again although one of their members were not able to join them because of injury.

Last Friday night, 24 Oras already climbed to second place next to Gagambino with a difference of only 0.2% as the fantaserye received 33% while the GMA newscast got 32.8% 24 Oras was even tied to Survivor Philippines.
