If we are to consider the whole 2 weeks duration of the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival including its run from January 1 to 8, 2011, then the said movies are the clear top-grossing Pinoy flicks for 2010 with “Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” at no. 1 while “Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na To” at no. 2.

Toni Gonzaga‘s fans disagree. They are appealing to the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards committee and their argument is that the basis for the awards should be the box-office gross of the films for 2010 only and that the January 1 to 8, 2011 gross of the 2 MMFF movies should NOT be counted. Thus, the highest-grossing Pinoy movie of 2010 should be “My Amnesia Girl” by virtue of its P144.8 million box-office gross.

Unfortunately, the titles Box-office King and Queen are being based from the highest-grossing single movie of a male and female lead that’s why John Lloyd Cruz was dethroned. However, John Lloyd is still awarded the Film Actor of the Year title while his “Miss You Like Crazy” leading lady, Bea Alonzo, is the Film Actress of the Year.

Meanwhile, Kapamilya stars Coco Martin and Toni Gonzaga are the Prince and Princess of Philippine Movies for the Star Cinema movies “Sa ‘Yo Lamang” and “My Amnesia Girl”.

In an interview by Showbiz News Ngayon, Toni Gonzaga shared her two cents regarding the issue.

“Hindi ko na iniisip iyan sa ngayon, kasi ayoko na siyang isipin. Kasi kung para sa iyo ang isang bagay para sa’yo. Kung hindi para sa’yo, life will still go on, so hindi natin kailangan na pagtuunan ng ganung halaga yung mga bagay na hindi pa sigurado, doon muna tayo sa mga bagay na sigurado,” she said.

The Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards committee, on the other hand, denied the reports that they already announced the new Box-Office King and Queen. Their camp said they will begin the deliberation this April after they receive the 2010 box-office tally from all local film outfits. They will announce the official winner after Holy Week.

These are only some of the acts to watch out for as Pinoys once again show the world what they’ve got in the highly-anticipated second season of the biggest nationwide talent-reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent” premiering this Saturday (Feb 26) on ABS-CBN.

The search is on once more for that world-class act worthy of winning the P2 million cash prize and getting that once-in-a-lifetime shot at stardom just like PGT season one grand winner Jovit Baldivino, who is now living the dream and making a mark in the industry with his music.

As PGT returns on air, so are its wacky hosts Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford’s who are both very excited to get back on stage and do the show all over again.

“I am extremely happy. We all know how much people supported the first season so it’s a good feeling doing the same thing all over with Billy boy,” said Luis.

Big 3 judges Queen of all Media Kris Aquino, Comedy Concert Queen Ai Ai Delas Alas, and former ABS-CBN President Freddie M. Garcia a.k.a. FMG are also back to decide who makes the cut and who among the acts deserve to be in the grand finals.

When asked what advice they can give to season two hopefuls, Kris said “This is a God-given chance. It’s a chance to perform for the entire nation. Ibigay mo na ang lahat dahil minsan lang dumadating ang ganito kalaking oportunidad.”

“Mataas ang pressure ngayon dahil dapat kabugin niya ang season one. Kung dati binuhay niyo ang katawang lupa ko, ngayon mas buhayin niyo pa ang kaluluwa ko,” added Ai Ai.

FMG also encouraged hopefuls to be braver and bolder than ever and prove that they are truly the best as he expects the competition to be on the next level this time around. “Mas technical ang judging ngayon. It’s a totally different show because it’s a variety show. You really don’t know what to expect. I think that is the beauty of PGT.”

“Pilipinas Got Talent” is indeed one of the most successful and most watched talent-reality show on Philippine TV that catapulted its first ever grand winner Jovit to stardom. Since he won June last year, Jovit already released two albums under Star Records, the first one hitting the Platinum record mark, and was able to stage his first major concert at the Music Museum.

This year’s Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night was filled with surprises and upsets.

“Rosario”, one of the only 2 films graded A for excellence by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) and expected by critics to sweep the awards, lost the Best Picture trophy to the comedy entry “Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na To!” The other graded A film, RPG Metanoia, was named 3rd Best Picture while Rosario settled for 2nd Best Picture.

The Star Cinema comedy entry won a total of 9 awards including Best Director for Wenn Deramas, Best Supporting Actress for Eugene Domingo and Best Actress for Ai Ai delas Alas.

“Rosario”, on the other hand, won 6 awards: Aside from 2nd Best Picture it also won the Gatpuno Villagas Cultural Award, Best Supporting Actor for Dolphy, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. The film’s lead star Jennylyn Mercado was not even nominated for Best Actress and its director, Albert Martinez, was not even nominated for Best Director.

Aside from Best Supporting Actor, the Comedy King also won Best Actor for Father Jejemon.

Wala na yatang makahahadlang sa paghahanda ni Comedy Queen Aiai delas Alas sa kanyang pagpasok sa politika. Matapos kasi ang isang semester ng pagsusunog-kilay sa kursong Public Administration sa prestihiyosong Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, handa na naman ang komedyana para sa susunod na semester.

“Sobrang masaya ako na nakatapos na ako ng isang semester. Gaya nang parati kong sinasabi, talaga kasing uplifting para sa aming mga ina ang pagbabalik-eskwela. Marami pa kasi kaming pwedeng ituro sa mga anak namin,” ani Aiai.

Sa kabila ng hectic na schedule niya sa showbiz, sinisikap ni Aiai na hindi lumiban sa kanyang mga klase. At kung hindi man ito maiiwasan, sinisigurado niya na nakaka-catch up siya sa kanyang mga aralin. Pangalawang degree na ito ni Aiai dahil isa siyang Mass Communication graduate mula sa Far Eastern University.

“Ayoko namang masabi ng iba dyan na artista lang ako, kaya ginagawa ko ito,” sambit ni Aiai sa isang interview matapos siyang tanungin kung bakit pa niya kailangan mag-aral gayung sikat na sikat na siya sa larangan ng pag-aartista.

Matatandaang sa pelikula ni Aiai na Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat noong 2008, ginampaman ni Aiai ang papel bilang pangulo ng Pilipinas. Sa kanyang planong pagpasok sa mundo ng politika, hangarin din kaya niyang maging pangulo balang araw?

“Lagi kong sinasabing gusto kong posisyon, First Lady… Masaya ang Pilipinas kapag ako ang naging First Lady. Wala kayong gagawin kundi tutukan ako tapos buwisit-buwisitin ako, pintasan ako everyday. Hahaha!,” pabirong sagot ni Aiai sa tanong kung ano bang posisyon sa pamahalaan ang kanyang inaasam-asam.

Kapansin-pansin din na sa kabilang pagiging abala ni Aiai sa parehong academics at showbiz, nanatili siyang blooming at tila pabata ng pabata. Biro nga nang ilang entertainment press na mahilig siguro siyang magpa-retoke. Ngunit iginiit ni Aiai na ang kanyang “masayang buhay” ang dahilan ng kanyang patuloy na pagganda.

Samantala, sa M3 ngayong darating na Sabado, nagbabalik si Kringkring (Aiai) matapos sumailalim sa isang cosmetic surgery na dulot ng aksidenteng kanyang tinamo. Sa kanyang muling pagpasok sa eksena, siya’y isa nang glamorosang career woman na sasaklolo kay JM (Aga Muhlach) na napapabayaan na ang sariling kumpanya dahil sa pag-iisip kaniyang magiging anak kay Megs (Niña Jose). Magkabalikan pa kaya sina JM at Bea (Megan Young)?

Kasama rin sina Jojo Alejar, Jairus Aquino, ang M3 ay sa ilalim ng direksyon ni Direk Frasco Mortiz.

Parami na talaga nang parami ang nadevelop sa pinakabagong romantic-comedy-drama series ng ABS-CBN tuwing Sabado na “Malay Mo Ma-develop” o M3, kung saan kasama niya ang nag-iisang King of Romance and Drama ng Philippine showbiz na si Aga Muhlach at Comedy Queen AiAi delas Alas.

Sa mala-“opposites attract” na tema ng M3, linggo-linggong nakatutok na ang mga manonood sa kakaibang istorya nina JM (Aga) at Kring-Kring (AiAi) na puno ng mga sorpresa, katatawanan at aral.

Sa isang exclusive interview kay AiAi, naikwento nito kung gaano siya kasaya ngayong kasama niya sa trabaho si Aga. “Napaka-blessed ko na nakasama ko si Aga Muhlach dahil isa siya sa pinakamagagaling nating aktor. At hindi magiging kumpleto ang career ko kung hindi ko siya makakasama. Nakatrabaho ko na si Robin, si Presidente Erap naging leading ko na at ngayong nakasama ko si Aga, I really feel so blessed. Mawala man ako sa mundo at least nakasama ko si Mr. Aga Muhlach.”

Dahil sa paghanggang ito at pagiging single ngayon, hindi naiwasang intrigahin ang Comedy Queen sa posibilidad na ma-develop siya kay Aga.

“Kahit gusto ko siyang bastusin, nirerespeto ko na lang siya. Una kaibigan ko kasi si Ms. Charlene na talagang mabait sa akin. Tapos nakita ko ‘yung kambal nila, ang ku-cute. Ayokong manira ng pamilya kaya tinitiis ko na lang. ‘Wag lang siyang magpapakita ng motibo dahil tao lang ako, mahina,” pabirong sinabi ni AiAi.

Ngunit nang hingan ng opinyon tungkol sa mga artistang nadedevelop sa mga ka-loveteam, isang seryoso pahayag ang binitiwan ng Reyna ng Komedya. “Ang mga artista, s’yempre tao lang kami. Kung may ginagawang pelikula o teleserye, ‘yung mga leading man namin o leading ladies nila araw-araw nakikita mo. At tao ka lang, minsan nadedevelop ka nang hindi mo sinasadya.”

Dagdag pa ni AiAi, “Depende na lang sa ‘yo kung dadalhin mo ‘yung emosyon na ‘yun. Pag inuwi mo ‘yun sa bahay, talo ka. Pero kapag iniiwan mo sa location, okay lang. Hindi ka makakasira ng pamilya.”

At tulad ng sa tunay na buhay, concern din sa pamilya ang character ni AiAi sa M3 na si Kring-Kring.

Ngayong linggo, magku-krus muli and landas nila JM at Kring-Kring. Ngunit kung noon ay si Kring ang may mahigpit na pangangailangan, sa pagkakataong ito, si JM naman—kailangan niyang mapapayag si Kring-Kring na maging assistant ni Lolo Jong (Noel Trinidad).

Ngunit bago pumayag sa inaalok ni JM, isang kondisyon ang ibinigay ni Kring-Kring sa kanya at ito ay ang magpanggap na ama ng kanyang anak na si Marcus (Jairus Aquino).
