19-year-old Jessica Whitely from Ohio sang Charice‘s “In This Song” as her audition piece on American Idol.

The verdict: She murdered the song!

The article is titled “Pocket Full of Sunshine” where Charice talked about trying her best to maintain a normal teenage life despite her international success.

A lot of people said Scotty’s single sucks while Lauren had a better song. I agree. But America is not voting on who had the better song or who performed well during the finale. They just vote against what the judges say (smiley). Besides, Scotty and Lauren are both in it to win it!

But who will sell more records? Since Scotty McCreery has a solid fan base and distinct genre which is country music, I’m guessing the 17-year-old crooner will sell more records.

Today, May 25, 2011, Scotty McCreery from Garner, North Carolina was crowned the winner of the tenth season of American Idol, making him the youngest male winner at age 17 and the second youngest winner ever behind season 6 winner Jordin Sparks, who was 17 when she won in 2007.

McCreery’s runner-up is 16-years-old Lauren Alaina from Rossville, Georgia , who could have been the youngest winner ever in case America’s votes favored her.

It’s interesting to note that last night, Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez were bent towards Alaina as the one most likely to win American Idol but as we have witnessed this season, America votes for the opposite of what the judges say.

Our poll has the same results, too, by the way: 60% voted for Scotty while 40% voted for Lauren. It’s the year of country music, indeed, for American Idol!

It’s battle of the sexes once again on American Idol finale this year!

The final two contestants standing on American Idol season 10 are the following (description courtesy of Wikipedia):

Lauren Alaina (born November 8, 1994) is from Rossville, Georgia and 16 years old at the time of the show. She auditioned in Nashville, Tennessee with Faith Hill’s “Like We Never Loved At All” and Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” which she also reprised for the Hollywood rounds. She also performed “Unchained Melody” twice, once for the first solo in the Hollywoods round and again for the final solo. She also performed Soul Brothers Six’s “Some Kind of Wonderful” in a girl group which was notable for getting Steven Tyler to sit on the chair while they performed around him. She performed “Hello, Goodbye” for the Las Vegas’ Beatles round with Scotty McCreery and Denise Jackson.

Scotty McCreery (born October 9, 1993) in from Garner, North Carolina and was 17 years old at the time of the show. He auditioned in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with Josh Turner’s “Your Man” and Travis Tritt’s “Put Some Drive In Your Country”. He reprised “Your Man” in the Hollywood rounds but forgot the words to Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance”. He also performed “Get Ready” with the group “The Guaps” and became involved in the drama when the Clint Jun Gamboa ousted young Jacee Badeaux from his group. For his final solo he performed Josh Turner’s “Long Black Train”.

Have you ever thought Lauren and Scotty will make it to the final 2? From the start of the season I thought it’s going to be a battle between Pia Toscano and James Durbin. But America is looking for something different now. Perhaps a country Idol this time?

The homecoming videos of the final three: Lauren, Scotty and Haley were shown during the results show of American Idol Thursday night (Friday morning in Manila).

After 95 million votes, Ryan Seacrest announced that the first contestant heading to the finale is Scotty McCreery. We knew at this moment that it’s another girl versus boy at the finale.

Scotty will be up against Lauren Alaina as Haley Reinhart received the lowest number of votes during the performance episode yesterday.

So who’s your bet for the title? Scotty or Lauren?

Ryan Seacrest announced that almost 72 million votes came in and its the biggest vote total for a Top 4 show.

Before the results, James Durbin and Scotty McCreery take the stage to sing “Start a Band” by Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. Then Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart sing Gunpowder and Lead. It feels like the night’s theme is country music, perhaps they’re looking for a country artist to win American Idol?

Ryan Seacrest announced that the first contestant to move on to the next round is…Lauren Alaina!

Results paused, guest performances aired: Enrique Iglesias performs “Dirty Dancer” and Jordin Sparks sings “I Am Woman,” her new single. Then Steven Tyler‘s brand new music video is shown.

Results continued, Haley Reinhart – the contestant that the judges threw under the bus last night is safe! Two girls are in the final three!
