During the story conference for the highly-anticipated drama series “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” last February 2 at the 9501 Restaurant in ABS-CBN, Anne Curtis described her character as a rebellious and free-spirited younger sister of Kris Aquino‘s character.

Robin Padilla, on the other hand, will portray the role of a man torn in between two sisters (Kris and Anne).

Although it wasn’t divulged with the entertainment press if Anne Curtis will play the sensational “other woman” role in the said drama series just like what she did in the 2011 box-office hit movie, Kris Aquino dropped some hints on the conflict between their characters as sisters.

“Anne and I will represent lahat ng emotions na nararamdaman ng kababaihan when it comes to being in love. Excited ako also kasi we get to see the dynamics kung anong relationship ng magkapatid. In every family, we all have different characters so makikita n’yo how two women will relate to each other. Yung isa responsible, de numero, yun yung character ko,” Kris told the entertainment press.

Kris also explained that their teleserye will tackle and answer the following questions: “Sino ba ang mas may karapatan sa pagmamahal? Who will call the shots when it comes to love? The person who gave the love or the person who received the love?”

So perhaps the person who gave the love is Kris and the person who received the love is Anne and in the middle of the triangle is Robin Padilla.

The camera will start rolling for “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” on February 21. Bb. Joyce Bernal is said to return to the Kapamilya network to helm the said primetime series which is scheduled to premiere on the second quarter of 2012.

While most celebrities are busy with their Christmas shopping and Holiday escapades, Kapamilya stars Kris Aquino, Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin, and Anne Curtis chose to spend a night sharing their blessings with the families in the different barangays of Cagayan de Oro City who were all recently affected by typhoon Sendong.

Kris, Vice, Angel, and Anne personally visited the typhoon-stricken areas of CDO and handed out food, water, and toiletries to the residents who mostly have lost everything including their properties, livelihood, homes, and even their loved ones.

Aquino said that made sure they seized the chance to help. “It’s nice to know that even my househelps joined us in the relief operations. They were up until four in the morning preparing our packed goods,” she said.

Vice Ganda, on the other hand, expressed that this is the time for Filipinos to show compassion and to extend a helping hand to each other. He said, “We all know that many were devastated in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan. We have to do something. It would be heartless of us to spend time just shopping while knowing that there are other people in our country suffering.”

Locsin and Curtis further appealed to the public to take part in helping the victims of typhoon Sendong.

“We are not here just to show that we are ‘giving.’ We want to urge our kababayans to share their blessings especially now that its Christmas time,” Locsin explained.

Curtis reminded that ‘clean potable water’ is an urgent necessity of the people in CDO and Iligan.

The Office of the Secretary General of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) issued a statement saying the event had an inevitable last minute adjustments, hence, the schedule conflict between Anne Curtis and the GMA-7 performers.

The University of Santo Tomas, together with all its students, deeply appreciate the enthusiastic participation of the television networks during the 8th USTv Students’ Choice Awards Kick Off Party held on 10 November 2011 at the Plaza Mayor of the university. We especially thank the celebrities from different television networks who generously took time out of their hectic schedules to join the Kick Off Party.

The event featured a program with a pre-determined sequence aimed at giving all the celebrities in attendance ample time to meet or to perform before the Thomasian audience. Since the TV networks normally cannot declare the exact number of talents who would be able to come, last minute adjustments were inevitable, subject, however, to mutual agreement of the concerned parties.

We regret any misunderstanding or confusion that may have occurred unintentionally and caused inconvenience to some. We pray and hope that all parties can move on and continue with our common commitment of promoting positive values in the mass media. After all, it is for this that the USTv Students’ Choice Awards came into being.

Here is the full statement:

We would like to clarify the issues related to the incident at the USTv awards’ launch, where Anne Curtis was invited to perform. The call time for Anne was 7PM and she arrived on time. She was scheduled to sing at 7:30 PM as originally scheduled but due to some reasons, the program was delayed.

Because Anne had been waiting for quite some time, the organizers of USTv awards decided to put her spot number after TV5’s presentation and before GMA 7 artists’ number. Unfortunately, she was not able to perform or even greet the crowd because a staff from GMA-7 stopped her. The organizers of the event, who should be the ones making the decisions for the program, failed to control the incident.

ABS-CBN understands that such delays and compromises occur during events like the USTv Awards Kick Off Party. During such times, people involved at the event might just have to extend extra patience and consideration.

Anne Curtis revealed the incident on her Twitter account saying she was prohibited by a staff of GMA Network to go up on stage to say hi to her fans, following the cancellation of her supposed live performance during the event:

“Thomasians, I’m sorry I had to leave na. I tried to at least get up on stage and say hi kahit 2 minutes lang but GMA staff didn’t want.”

“Thomasians, I was there on the left side of the stage & told them kahit d na ako kumanta babati Lang ng Hi and Hello but GMA Staff said no.”

PEP.ph was able to get the side of GMA Network regarding the incident. A source from the Kapuso network said Curtis was 3 hours late from the scheduled call time for the performers.

“We were simply sticking to the programme sequence provided by the organizers” – this was GMA-7′s response to Anne Curtis’s tweets.

Here is GMA’s side of the story:

1. Prior to the event, network representatives had been briefed by the organizers/UST about the sequence of the programme. This was to be the basis for arranging our artists’ schedules and determining their call time for the event.

2. Based on the schedule, GMA artists were supposed to perform at 7 pm. Our talents were at the venue as early as 5 pm. Last-minute insertion of ABS-CBN’s Banana Split cast in the programme however further pushed back the schedule.

3. Shortly before GMA’s number, GMA representatives confirmed the programme sequence with organizers. We were told that the Kapuso artists would be next. GMA was not aware nor informed by the organizers in any prior meeting that Anne Curtis will be part of the program.

4. When the GMA artists were about to go on stage, Anne Curtis, her handler and a student organizer approached a GMA representative to ask if she could go on stage first.

However, GMA staff declined and instructed the floor director and production staff to please proceed with the programme sequence, as the Kapuso stars also had other schedules to go to, and by this time were already waiting for nearly three hours.

5. GMA later found out that Ms. Curtis had left the venue and had tweeted about the incident.

Anne Curtis, on the other hand, explained on Twitter that she didn’t arrive late as what the statement from GMA said.

Here’s her follow-up tweet:

“Firstly, if you read my twitter timeline I didn’t arrive late at 8pm. I was asked by UST people to be there between 7-7:30 and they had told my Road Manager as soon as I get there it would be my turn.. If you want an exact time I was there at 7:10 according to driver. O diba? Join din ang driver ko sa drama. Haha. No, but seriously, they told me naman since TV5 people were performing already they opted to put me after TV5 artists & before the GMA artists.”

Curtis also pointed out that she did arrived earlier than the GMA artists who were also set to perform that night:

“What I meant when I said nauna ako sa GMA Artists dun was that the USTv staff called me to go on stage coz it was my turn. When I got backstage pababa na ung Artists of TV5 and I didn’t see anyone from GMA except the lady representing GMA.”

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN with its head of Corporate Communications Bong Osorio, has released a short statement regarding the incident.

“Ang pangyayari ay hindi nakontrol ng organizers ng USTv awards na siyang dapat may desisyon sa produksyon. Nauunawaan ng ABS-CBN na nangyari ang delay at mga ganitong kompromiso sa mga events tulad ng USTv. Dapat lamang magkaroon ng bigayan at konsiderasyon sa mga ganitong sitwasyon.”

Last October 19, Anne Curtis performed a pole dancing and air dancing number with matching singing to boot which is part of the week-long 2nd anniversary celebration of ABS-CBN’s talent variety program “Showtime.”

This morning, October 22, Pinoy Big Brother himself declared Anne Curtis as the winner of talent showdown of the program’s hosts by garnering perfect 10 scores from special anniversary judges namely Dr. Manny Calayan, Cathy Garcia-Molina, Joel Cruz, Liz Uy and Dra. Vicki Belo.

Curtis thanked Jed Madela who held the mic for her while she’s performing the routine. She received a cash prize of P100,000 which, she said, will be donated to UNICEF Philippines.

Tied in second place were Vice Ganda and Billy Crawford who each received a cash prize of P50,000.

Other participants were Kuya Kim, Vhong Navarro, and Karylle.

Anne Curtis reveals she is not just an actress, a covergirl, a host and recording artist. As part of the 2nd anniversary presentation of “Showtime” last October 19, Anne surprised everyone when she showed them that she has more to offer.

The “madlang people” and the “hurados” composed of celebrity cosmetic surgeons Vicki Belo and Manny Calayan, entrepreneur Joel Cruz, celebrity stylist Liz Uy, and director Cathy Garcia-Molina, were all in awe after Anne showcased her pole and air dancing abilities with some singing to boot.

She sang Adele‘s “Someone Like You” while being pulled upside down. And then she capped the performance by singing Aerosmith‘s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” before plunging into a tub full of water.
