After more than half a million votes, Askmen.com revealed their list of the Top 49 Most Influential Men of 2009.

The popular men’s website stated that the Top 49 in their list this year span multiple industries and countries; through their achievements, both personal and professional, they have inspired everyday guys in a variety of ways. They’re the men we look to as role models, and history will remember them as those who best embodied the way men aspired to live in 2009.

George Clooney appeared at the top of the list in 2006. It was David Beckham’s turn to be the most influential in 2007. Last year, US President Barack Obama came in at No. 1. This year, Don Draper captured the top spot.

Our very own Pambansang Kamao, Manny Pacquiao, entered the list at no. 24 this year.

And why he’s no. 24? Here’s what Askmen.com‘s got to say about Manny:

We generally aren’t intimidated by guys who are 5-foot-6 and 130 pounds, but Manny Pacquiao is a definite exception. This 30-year-old Filipino fighter, currently the IBO and Ring Magazine Light Welterweight champion, recently became the first Asian boxer to win five world titles in five different weight divisions, leading many pundits to label him the greatest pound-for-pound pugilist in boxing history.

Pacquiao’s mastery was especially apparent on May 2, 2009, when he easily knocked out former WBA welterweight world champ Ricky Hatton at a heavily hyped match in Las Vegas. ESPN’s Dan Rafael was one of many journalists who sang Pac-Man’s praises following the fight. “It was almost laughable how easy it was for Pacquiao,” Rafael wrote. “It seems as though there is nothing he can’t do.”
