Taylor Swift bagged the top plum of the night, the Album of the Year award for Fearless. The 20-year-old also scooped the Grammy in the best country album category, best female country vocal performance for her single “White Horse” and the best country song category for the same track.

Good thing Kanye West did not appear after Swift received the most prestigious award of the night (CLICK HERE TO WATCH TAYLOR’S ACCEPTANCE SPEECH).

Swift’s biggest rivals were Beyonce and Lady Gaga. Beyonce bagged the Song of the Year award for Single Ladies while Lady Gaga bagged the Best Dance Recording award for Poker Face and Best Dance Album for The Fame.

Beyonce also scooped the Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song for Single Ladies, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for At Last, and Best Contemporary R&B Album for I Am Sasha Fierce.

Although this year was dominated by females, Kings of Leon emerged as the biggest winner among the males for winning the Record of the Year award for Use Somebody. The band also won Best Rock Performance By a Duo/Group w/ Vocals and Best Rock Song for Use Somebody.

The Grammys is happening on January 31, 2010 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Revealed as the first pack of nominees, in the Song of the Year category over the weekend, the three will face off against Kings of Leon (“Use Somebody”) and two songs from David Guetta.

Guetta, first seen in the Miss Universe pageant last summer, is nominated for “When Loves Takes Over” feat. Kelly Rowland and the Akon assisted “Sexy Chick”.

A full list of nominees and performers will be announced at a later date. The fans, however, can now vote for the Song of the Year award at World Music Award website HERE.

But instead of immersing herself in the biggest victory of the night, she gave the spotlight to Taylor Swift:

“Thank you. I remember being 17-years-old, up for my first MTV Award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So I’d like Taylor [Swift] to come out and have her moment,” she said.

Taylor came out and hugged Beyonce. She finally got her moment and saying, “I’d like to thank all the fans on Twitter and MySpace and everyone who came out to my shows this summer. Thank you so much!”

So this year, Beyonce and Jay-Z emerged as the highest-earning couple. This is because the newlyweds have had a monster year. He banked $82 million by signing a $150 million 10-year recording, touring and merchandising deal with Live Nation. She raked in $80 million, thanks to an entertainment empire including fashion, film and publishing deals as well as a concert tour that sold $50 million in tickets and endorsement deals.

The odds are favoring pop superstar Beyonce Knowles as she’s already in talks with DC Comics and Warner Brothers to play the role of Wonder Woman in the big screen adaptation.

“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?,” Beyonce said to the LA Times.

“After doing these roles that were so emotional (Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records, Austin Powers) I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero.’ Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy,” she added.

Wonder Woman was originally played by Lynda Carter on TV in the late 70s and it has never been made into a feature film. The character, created by William Marston, first appeared in All Star Comics in 1941 and continuously published by DC Comics in 1944. An animated film will be released in 2009 starring Kerri Russell.
