The 25-year old Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter–Bruno Mars–is Billboard magazine’s featured artist this month. This, by the way, is Mars’ first magazine cover, ever.

Here are excerpts from the Billboard interview:

On fame:

“When people fall is when they’re like, ‘OK. Now I’m here, what’s next? A clothing line?’ That’s not what I’m trying to do. It’s like, ‘Don’t be a slut. Remember your dream. Do you music and keep it special.’”

On his success in the business:

“It’s a rare thing that happens, especially in this day, where it’s real hard to sell albums. I’m traveling to places that I’ve never even heard of and there are all these people singing the songs back – and English is not even their first language. It’s like, what the hell happened?”

On his drug arrest:

“It’s something that I wish would go away,” Mars says. “It’s a cloud that constantly follows me no matter how many achievements.”

On his plans for the future:

“I’m itching and jonesing to get back into the studio and fantasizing about doing a side project. I’m such a fan of how Jack White and Danger Mouse get down and put these bands together. I’d love to be the drummer in a band that I’m producing, and sit back there and have someone else sing.”

Charice is listed by Billboard at no. 4 on their “21 Under 21: Music’s Hottest Minors” list so it’s a must that we vote for her at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards.

Charice’s fan site www.charicemania.com is campaigning for the Pinay singing sensation in the upcoming Billboard Music Awards under the category “Billboard’s Fan Favorite”.

On the voting page of Billboard’s Fan Favorite Award, 30 artists are listed as possible winners. Charice may not be on that list but Billboard provided an “Other” choice where you can type in the name of the artist you’re voting for.

Other artists have already tweeted their fans to vote for them, so it’s vital that all Charice fans vote as much as they can ’til May 20. Also, multiple voting is allowed so there’s no reason to just vote once.

VOTING INSTRUCTIONS

If you want to vote, simply >> visit this page.

Scroll down the page to where it says >> CLICK HERE TO VOTE in big red letters.

Her name is not listed there, but…

Simply type in: CHARICE in the blank textbox provided.

Click “Submit” and wait for the new page to load.

Then click the “Vote Again” link. Repeat the steps above as much as you can.

Help spread the word about voting for Charice as the 2011 Billboard Fan Favorite through Twitter, Facebook, and other social networking sites.
It’s still anybody’s game, so just keep on voting for Charice.

Philippines is ranked #1 in using social networking sites and this is another opportunity to show the world the online voting power of Pinoys specially if it will help our kababayan get the recognition that she deserves.
