“In the Name of Love” starring Angel Locsin and Aga Muhlach hits P117.2-M in 5 weeks, just P3-million short of beating “Catch Me…I’m In Love” as the no. 1 Pinoy movie of 2011.

Star Cinema’s hit-drama movie may still be showing in selected theaters but it’s going to be very limited since their new offering, “Forever and a Day,” starring Sam Milby and KC Concepcion just opened yesterday.

“In the Name of Love” needs at least P3-million this week in order to beat the record of “Catch Me…I’m In Love” as the no. 1 Pinoy movie (so far) for 2011 with a gross receipts of P120.21 million. It’s possible but it’s gonna be difficult to achieve.

Capturing the no. 1 slot again, in Philippine box-office, is 20th Century Fox’s “X-Men: First Class” with a haul of P38.49 million last weekend. The film has now raked-in a total P128.1 million in 2 weeks.

Kung Fu Panda 2, on the other hand, maintains second position while debuting films “Super 8″ and “The Hangover Part II” settles for 3rd and 4th respectively.

Kung Fu Panda 2, by the way, has dislodged Thor as the biggest film in the Philippines so far for 2011. The Jack Black-starrer has already accumulated P188.7 million at the box-office in just 2 weeks!

Here’s the Philippine box office tally (Top 10) for the opening weekend of June 8 to 12, 2011 according to Box Office Mojo (premiering movies are highlighted in yellow):

In the 38th Box Office Entertainment Awards ceremony hosted by the Guillermo Mendoza Scholarship Foundation, Inc., the Primetime Queen Marian Rivera grabbed the Most Promising Female Star Award, the Face of the Night Award and the Phenomenal TV Star Award making her the most-awarded star of the night.

And when asked about the possibility of winning the “Box-Office Queen” title next year, she said, “Ang hirap kasing magsabi na next year, ganito na ‘ko. Siguro kung ano lang ang ibinibigay sa akin. Sa ngayon, sobra-sobra ang ibinibigay sa akin ni Lord. At masaya ‘ko na maraming tao ang nagmamahal sa akin. Yun lang, masayang-masaya na ‘ko.”

Technically, Marian’s movie with Richard Gutierrez last February “My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend” remains the top-grossing movie so far and the only movie to surpass the PhP 100 million barrier from January 2008 to date (with the exception of MMFF movies which were all released in 2007).

If ever her next movie “Amnesia” with Dingdong Dantes and Iza Calzado duplicates BFGF’s feat and also surpass the P100 million mark, then i guess it’s safe to assume that Marian Rivera is a shoo-in for the Box-office queen award.

And when asked about the intriguing question that she’s taking away Angel Locsin’s endorsements, she said “Hayan na naman. Bilang isang artista, bilang isang kinukuhang talent para sa isang commercial, ang manager ko ang nakikipag-usap. Wala akong alam sa ganoong bagay. Basta ang importante sa akin, ino-offer sa akin. Ginagawa namin at masaya ako na nagtitiwala sila sa akin.”
