During the Point of View segment of The Buzz‘ this afternoon, Ruffa Gutierrez got pissed off by Kris Aquino’s tackless remarks about her transfer to TV5.

Right before they close the Point of View segment on The Buzz’ March 7 episode, Kris Aquino made a surprising remark on Ruffa.

“Ruffa, aminin mo. Ibang level ang saya dito,” Kris said.

Ruffa answered back, “Well, i know, you don’t have to rub it in Kris. Syempre I’m sad din, sana wag mo naman, you know, dagdagan.”

Boy Abunda butted in: “We run in circles, we run in circles, we don’t say goodbye.”

Then Kris made another remark: “Ruffa ano ka ba, we’re neighbors!”

Then Ruffa became speechless. As Boy hinted for a commercial break, Ruffa walked out from the table.

According to PEP’s scoopbox, Ruffa Gutierrez was not able to finish The Buzz because her mom, Annabelle Rama, pulled her out from the show.

Television interviews have never been this bold and feisty until “The Bottomline” came into the boob tube.

Hosted by the country’s King of Talk Boy Abunda, “The Bottomline” has dramatically changed the face of one-on-one interviews as it fearlessly touched the most sensitive issues of every controversial personality.

Where does he get the courage to ask? “I can ask any question and I deserve to be asked any question also. Kunwari, if I have the balls to ask ‘Are you gay? Are you still a virgin?’ people can also ask me the same questions. Dapat patas,” Boy revealed. He added, “I do extensive research. I read a lot. We structure questions but I don’t literally read them. I don’t know my first question until I am in front of my guest. And it’s not about asking the right or the wrong question but you will know what to ask when you’re there. That’s the trick.”

In an interview, when asked if there is one person he would love to appear in ‘The Bottomline’, he answered “I’m coming from the point that I’ve reach that stage in my career where I’ve stopped dreaming of dream interviews because I’ve been fortunate to have been able to do interviews with the people I’ve wanted to interview. At saka dumating na rin ako sa stage ng buhay ko na hindi ako namimili. Kahit sino pwede ko interview-hin. I think everybody has a story, it largely depends on how the story is told.”

Boy’s passion for the show cannot be denied. In fact, the host shared, “I’ve spoken with Cory (Vidanes) and told her, kahit pa alas-dos ito ng madaling araw, for as long as you allow me to do this material I’ll do it.”

He further detailed, “This is the show that I’d like to grow old with. Ito yung show na gusto kong gawin until I am 70 because this is not attached to age or beauty.”

You’ve witnessed him conduct bold one-on-one interviews and you’ve seen him ask the most controversial questions to the hottest personalities in town. Now, the country’s King of Talk, Boy Abunda, enters a whole new concept of discussion as he goes up-front in ABS-CBN’s newest reality talk show “Bottomline” starting November 28 (Saturday night) after Banana Split.

Boy Abunda is considered one of the most credible hosts on Philippine television today. His followers have seen how he delves into the very heart of the matter/issues and how he deals with diverse kinds of personalities. He has posted the toughest questions and has been able to get frank and honest answers from his guests. These strong points of Boy gave the network the idea of adding a different twist to the usual concept of talk shows. Thus, “Bottomline” is born.

Vince Rodriguez, Bottomline’s Production Manager revealed that the central concept of the show is Boy Abunda himself. “The show didn’t exist outside of Tito Boy, he was really the central figure. It couldn’t have gone to anyone else. He’s really the central concept of the show.” He added, “He’s really passionate about it. He’s very excited because this is something that he really wants to do. He’s an excellent conversationalist. He likes talking to people. He likes picking the brains of people. And he’s very well-read. He watches a lot of news and current affairs shows. He likes learning. So I think he enjoys the interviews because he also learns from them.”

Pear Clemente, the show’s headwriter also shared the same thought. “Tito Boy is a ‘hybrid’ kind of host. He can interview people from different walks of life. Surprisingly, he unfolds the ‘human’ side of his interviewee baring the different aspect of that certain person.”

“Bottomline” is a reality-talk show which involves not only Tito Boy, but also a group of opinionated people with different stances on a subject. They are called the ‘bottomliners’, Bottomline’s executive producer Apples Dela Vega disclosed. “We have a pool of bottomliners. Nagpapalit yu’n depending on the guest. We get six to eight bottomliners from the pool for every episode and through Tito Boy’s interview with the guest, their questions and other issues are answered.”

The show also gives the viewers the privilege to see the whole process of the story development– from conceptualization, to brainstorming, to actual execution of the interview and ending with a post-mortem or assessment of the interview. Boy acts as the moderator of the whole discussion. The bottomliners share what they want to know about the guest. Tito Boy throws in the questions gathered from the brainstorming through no-holds barred interview with the invited guest. Through a monitor, the bottomliners are able to witness the interview. After the session, Boy and the bottomliners assess the whole activity.

The Laurenti Dyogi romantic drama had a very successful premiere night at the Trinoma Mall Cinema in Quezon City last night, August 11, 2009.

In the past, SM Megamall Cinemas (particularly Cinema 9 and 10) were the venue for all Star Cinema movie premiere nights. But why Trinoma Cinema this time?

SM Megamall Cinema 10 was supposedly the venue for the movie’s premiere night as announced by Star Cinema through its multiply site but the site’s content says otherwise (see Google search result below).

Watch the report of Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino Tuesday night on Showbiz News Ngayon making it very clear that And I Love You So is opening today in more than 100 theaters nationwide EXCEPT SM Cinemas. They announced the list of theaters where the public can watch the movie and not even 1 SM cinema was mentioned.

The two hosts did not make any comment regarding the matter. When Boy Abunda mentioned “…EXCEPT SM Cinemas”, Kris Aquino could only mutter “Oh, Oh.”

SM Supermall is an avid sponsor of various GMA shows. Their condominium is being endorsed by Darna star Marian Rivera. Is the network war behind this matter?

Star Cinema, on the other hand, said they will release an official statement regarding this matter any time from now.

Last Sunday, Vicky Belo took the hot seat on GMA’s Showbiz Central. In the said program, Vicky made the following statement: If you want to look like Boy Abunda, go to Calayan. But if you want to look like Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual, then come to Belo.

On the Monday episode of SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, Boy Abunda expressed his feelings regarding the insult made by Vicky Belo in Showbiz Central. Boy’s final statement was: “…Vicki, wala akong ilusyong maganda ako, wala akong ilusyon. Pero wala rin sinumang may karapatang manlait sa aking pagkatao.”

The day after, Boy’s talents Ai Ai delas Alas and Mariel Rodriguez expressed their support to their manager in their respective programs “Ruffa and Ai” and “Wowowee” respectively.

Respected comlumnist Ricky Lo also said his piece. In his article “Isang Pagkondena sa Ginawang Panlalait ni Vicky”, he said: Last Sunday the Doktora showed bad taste by making the offensive tackless, unkind, unprofessional, and uncalled-for remark.”

And finally, Dr. Manny Calayan retaliated to the slur made by Belo and released the following statement via PEP:

“We are behind Boy Abunda, 101 percent. We understand his feelings and reactions to the ridiculing and insulting remarks he sustained from Dra. Belo. Promoting one’s business or services by stepping on someone was uncalled for. Besides, Dingdong Dantes used to be our endorser and part of what he has become came from our services, and so did other of her big named endorsers: Claudine Barretto, Ruffa Gutierrez, and Katrina Halili.

“There’s a simple reason for our ‘TO C TO BELIEVE’ campaign and that’s more about inner beauty that’s from a good and sincere heart like Boy Abunda, which transcends outward a person’s life and touches other people’s lives. And through that inner beauty, we see and believe in the beauty of other people and we believe in their goodness! We accept whoever you are, we make you feel good. That’s the Calayan experience and that’s TO ‘C’ IS TO BELIEVE!”

Here’s the sitch: Dra. Vicky Belo took the hot seat for the “Gimme Mo” segment of Showbiz Central Sunday afternoon. Questions from Regine Velasquez, Lorna Tolentino, Lolit Solis, Butch Francisco and Richard Gomez were selected for the show, for Mo Twister to ask Vicky Belo.

The first question was: “Sa lahat ng mga artista, kanino ka pinakanahirapan dahil sa dami ng dapat baguhin sa katawan niya?”

The famous doctor replied, “Number one, never na nahihirapan ang Belo Medical Group dahil napakagaling namin at kumpleto kami sa mga laser. Number two, kahit meron man artista na ganoon, hindi ko rin masasabi dahil sa patient-doctor confidentiality.”

And then Belo was asked to comment about her biggest rival’s claim (Calayan) that they have better-looking endorsers than Belo Medical Group. She said:

“Well, first of all, I feel kinda bad. Kasi, ako naman ang nag-umpisa ng mga bati-bati ng mga artista. I feel bad, kasi parang ginagaya lang nila ako. Sana naman, maghanap naman sila ng unique marketing… And I’d like to say, if you want to look like Boy Abunda, then go to Calayan. But if you like to look like Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual, come to Belo.”

Monday night on SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, Boy Abunda tearfully answered Belo’s statement on Showbiz Central. He said:

“Nasindak po ako, na-surprise po ako, di po ako makapaniwala…kaibigan ko pong matalik si Dra. Vicky Belo for years. Vicky if you’re watching alam mo na kahit kailan hindi ako namuhunan sa gandang panlabas dahil alam ko wala ako masyado nun. Alam mo na namuhunan ako ng lakas ng loob, sipag at tiyaga, dasal, at Vicky wala akong ilusyong gumanda. At wala ring ninumang may karapatan na manlait sa aking pagkatao.”

Boy narrated that his mom called him late Sunday night from Samar and asked him if he did something wrong to Vicky Belo and why she insulted him on national tv. Boy assured her mom that he did not do anything against the famous cosmetic doctor.

“Vicky if you’re watching, you know i did not do anything bad to you to deserve this insult. Wala akong ginawa sa ‘yo. And ma if you’re watching, wala po akong ginawa. Narating ko po ang maliit na espasyo ko dito sa industriya na wala po akong tinapakan. At mga kaibigan, hindi po tayo kinakailangang kasing-ganda o kasing-gwapo ni Dingdong Dantes para maging masaya at para maging mabuting tao,” he added.

It’s true that Boy and Kris will be replaced with a new show with Ai Ai delas Alas and Ruffa Gutierrez as hosts. The new show is called “Ruffa and Ai” and it will begin on February 16, 2009.

So what will happen to Boy and Kris? The Philippines King and Queen of talk is moving to the primetime block to change the Philippine primetime TV experience with the first primetime entertainment news program titled SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon.

As ABS-CBN Business Unit Head Deo Endrinal said, “the witty and weighty repartee of the king and queen of talk, the nights of ABS-CBN Channel 2 viewers are bound to be livelier.”

Here is Karylle’s official statement:

“If there were any misinterpretations of my smile, I clarified it yesterday morning when I guested on Boy & Kris. Tito Boy Abunda even apologized for asking me that question. Tita Kris said kasi that it was politically incorrect for him to ask me. I just explained that no matter what I would answer or however my face would react, it would mean something.

“Parang I was in a no-win situation. If I didn’t smile, people would say I was bitter. I was actually trying to figure out what to answer and how to phrase it properly. And then, si Tito Boy suddenly said ‘Thank you!’ and ended the interview.”

To sum it up, Karylle was caught off-guard in the last and “toughest” question on the Buzz last Sunday. Funny thing is, 9 out of 10 questions were all about kapuso stars Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. So who gets the people’s sympathy now?

Karylle will also write on her newspaper column and clarify her “smile” on the said incident. Hopefully, she can patch things up with Marian Rivera in the near future.

Karylle’s first appearance on ABS-CBN since she became an official kapamilya was on ASAP. Karylle received a warm welcome from the cast of the Sunday musical variety show after she was happily introduced by her mom Zsa Zsa Padilla.

After ASAP, Karylle occupied the hot seat of The Buzz for the segment “Tough 10 Questions.” She breezed through the first 9 questions of Boy Abunda until she heard the last and most difficult one which was:

“I know you have nothing to do with this pero sabi ko nga kasama ka sa kwentong ito, sa iyong pagkakaalam, Karylle, buntis ba si Marian Rivera?”

Karylle did not reply, kept silent and just smilingly stared back at Boy Abunda.

Prior to her transfer to ABS-CBN, Karylle broke up with her boyfriend of three years – Dingdong Dantes. Since Dingdong is paired with Marian Rivera, rumors abounded that the Primetime Queen is the cause of their break-up.

Karylle, however, denied the rumors and said that only her and Dingdong know the real reason of the break-up.

“I think kami lang ni ‘Dong ang makakalam talaga kung bakit kami naghiwalay. I mean we can explain and explain but it will never be fully sufficient. And I think even to this day, we don’t understand why we broke up. So, parang how can you even explain it to other person?” she said.

When Kris was first asked to return to the Buzz, she hesitated because Sunday is dedicated to her husband James Yap, son and mother. Kris and her family are spending their lunch time together with mom, former President Corazon Aquino.

The ABS-CBN management asked James if Kris can take the job and the basketball heartthrob did not hesitate.

Kris vacated her seat at the kapamilya showbiz talk show when she had a rift with co-host Cristy Fermin. Now that Cristy Fermin was suspended, she can now return not as guest host but a regular host like she used to be. She also finished her issue with Jobert Sucaldito, one of the anchors of the said talk show.

Kris will begin her hosting stint this Sunday which coincides with the birthday celebration of her co-host and best friend, Boy Abunda.

In an interview with Boy Abunda on the Buzz Sunday afternoon, Precious admitted that she indeed brought her boyfriend in Hawaii last week when the noontime program held a special show in the island. But it’s not only her boyfriend that she brought with her but also her mom.

She said, “I was pulled out…siguro axed talaga is the term. I’ll tell you the story talaga… Nagalit si Kuya, Kuya Willie [Revillame]. There was a rule daw that I was not allowed to bring a boyfriend, which is very unclear to me. I did not know. I wasn’t told very clearly. The only time I was told was parang it was like a joke and I even… I’m not gonna even say that anymore.

“Pero there was no rule to me. I didn’t understand that. And I knew naman talaga that if I was going to bring my boyfriend and my mom, dapat hindi maapektuhan ang work, which is what happened.

“I’m sure that the people from Wowowe who came with us, they can attest to it na hindi ko naman napabayaan ang work ko. I was never late. I was never absent for any rehearsal, for any TV guesting, for the show itself. I did my best. I gave my best. So, surprise lang talaga ako doon sa reason nila sa pagtanggal sa akin because I brought my boyfriend and my mom along,” Lara added.

Boy Abunda clarified with Lara that the rule forbidding any of its stars to bring their girlfriend or boyfriend to work is not a company rule of ABS-CBN. But each program of the kapamilya network has its own “house rules” and unfortunately in Wowowee, this is one of them.

Lara further explains, “The only time they saw my mom and my boyfriend was at the last day ng stay namin sa Hawaii. Only in the airport na nga lang, tapos nung nasa airport. My mom didn’t even watch the show para lang wala silang masabi. Kasi I was told, okay if they are coming, kung sasama sila, huwag na lang silang magpakita. Don’t let them come with you in the rehearsal or anything like that. And that was they did.”

Lara firmly declared that she will no longer return in Wowowee even if Willie Revillame and the rest of the staff will ask her back. She added that despite of the matter, she will still be a kapamilya and her fans can still watch her in “That’s My Doc.”
