The Giggerboys charmed nationwide audience as the pilot episode of ‘Boystown’ registered 13.5% placing second to ASAP in the daytime race last Sunday.

The Korean F4, on the other hand, are starting to have Pinoy followers as their “Boys Over Flowers” garnered 24.6% last Monday night placing 8th in the primetime race.

The new GMA game show, the Power of 10, as hosted by Janno Gibbs debuted at no. 5 in the primetime race last Sunday with 20.7%. Sunday’s primetime was ruled by Rated K followed by the Singing Bee.

Precious Hearts Romances Presents the Bud Brothers was able to beat erstwhile leader Wowowee last Monday in the daytime race. The kapamilya soap hit the no. 1 position with 23.2 percent. The primetime race, on the other hand, is still ruled by May Bukas Pa.

The victory party prepared by GMA-7 to Pambansang Kamao Manny Pacquiao entitled “Pacmania: Welcome sa Pambansang Kamao” which was held at the SM Mall of Asia topped the daytime race last Friday with 24.4 percent. Erstwhile daytime leader, Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin?, dropped to 4th place.

Last Saturday, Janno Gibbs‘ Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5 ended its run with 21.2% which is good for 5th place. Ryan Agoncillo’s Talentadong Pinoy, on the other hand, climbed to 8th place from it’s regular 9th position.

Two shows from rival networks had its debut last Sunday in the daytime and primetime race respectively. Your Song Presents: Boystown, starring The Giggerboys, registered 12.8% in Mega Manila which is good for 4th place in the daytime race. Topping the daytime race last Sunday was SOP followed by its rival show ASAP.

The best performer was GMA’s Power of 10 as hosted by Janno Gibbs. The newest game show registered 24 percent in the primetime race in Mega Manila placing 2nd to Kap’s Amazing Stories.

Last Monday night, the Korean version of Meteor Garden called “Boys Over Flowers” debuted at no. 9 in the primetime race with a rating of 22%. It failed to beat it’s rival show Fated to Love You which garnered a strong 28.3 percent.

Leading the show is Gigger Boys’ other member Enchong Dee. “Kinakabahan ako. Sabi ko nga sa manager ko na kung pwede niya akong samahan dito sa story conference. This is very important to me because this could either make or break my career. I think the fact the nagpunta siya dito all the way from Makati amidst his busy schedule I’m very thankful. Hindi lang sa kanya kung hindi sa lahat and to God most especially. Also with all the people saying na ako ang parang lead dito, nakakakilig talaga.”, said an overwhelming Enchong.

A champion swimmer, Enchong got his first showbiz break in the teen-oriented dramas Abt Ur Luv and Astigs. In the early part of his career, he did several supporting roles and was a member of many ensemble-acting pieces, most notably in Mars Ravelo’s Lastikman, My Girl, and Your Song Presents: My Only Hope. But this time around, Enchong gets to spearhead the cast of Boystown.

It’s a challenge for this 20-year-old actor-athlete to portray Arnel, a short-tempered young man. Enchong said that the story of Boystown will show different kinds of rivalries involving its characters. “Kay Robi may rivalry with girls. Kay Dino may rivalry sa physicality. Rivalry with family naman kay Tita Ana (Roces).”

When asked on how he plans to play Arnel who is very much different from his true personality, Enchong said “Tutal tapos na rin lang ang school pwede ko na siguro ilabas ang lahat ng kalokohan ko (laughs). Siguro I will try my best to play the character in the darkest way I can. In my character makikita mo ‘yung good and bad side.”
