Syesha Mercado joined Brooke White in the all-female bottom 2 after Ryan Seacrest announced that all the three guys: David Archuleta, Jason Castro and David Cook were safe. Forty-five million Americans voted in favor of the guys.

Early on, the top 5 performed a Neil Diamond medley. Afterwards, Ryan Seacrest visited with former American Idol finalists Constantine Maroulis and Gina Glocksen in the studio audience. Constantine and Gina plugged their Fox Reality show “American Idol Extra.”

Ryan Seacrest addressed some of the gossip about Paula Abdul’s boo-boos from the previous episode. Seacrest said, “Just for the record, the rumors, they are not true. She’s part of our family, and we love her, so a round of applause for Paula. And I think Simon still wants to hook up with her.”

The special guest of the night was Natasha Beddingfield, who sang her single “Pocket Full Of Sunshine.” After her performance, Natasha went over and gave David Archuleta a kiss on the cheek.

For the Ford music video, the American Idol finalists performed “Catch The Wind.” For the second guest musical performance, Neil Diamond sang “Amazing Grace.”
