According to a report by Manila Bulletin, what makes Carla Abellana and her manager Arnold Vegafria decide to accept the offer of ABS-CBN is the Kapuso network’s priorities when it comes to giving projects to its talents.

A reliable source told the broadsheet that the network’s priorities are Marian Rivera, Barbie Forteza and Bea Binene, in that order.

However, she hasn’t inked the deal yet so her mother studio can still make a counter-offer.

Carla Abellana catapulted to fame when GMA-7 offered her the role of “Rosalinda” in 2009, her very first TV project and a title role at that. She actually auditioned to become Richard Gutierrez‘ leading lady in Zorro but instead, the network gave her “Rosalinda.”

Her other projects were “The Last Prince,” “Basahang Gito,” “Ilumina,” “Magic Palayok,” “Kung Aagawin Mo ang Lahat sa Akin,” and some co-hosting stints in “StarStruck” and “Bb. Pilipinas.”

Carla also starred in the movies Mamarazzi, Shake, Rattle & Roll XII, My Neighbor’s Wife, and the 2011 MMFF entries Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story and Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.

Her contract with the Kapuso network is about to expire this month.

Other Kapuso stars who transferred to the Kapamilya network earlier this year were Carmina Villaroel, Patrick Garcia and Iza Calzado. And perhaps Carla is the next one?

Carla, known for her sweet image, dared to show some skin and joined the ranks of sexy calendar girls like Katrina Halili, Ehra Madrigal, Bangs Garcia, Nina Jose and Iya Villania as she was chosen to banner Tanduay’s 2012 calendar.

Despite the sexy nature of the pictorial, Carla said she will maintain her wholesome image and reiterated that the shots for the calendar were done in good taste.

It’s interesting to note that Carla’s first daring project was her last movie, My Neighbor’s Wife, where she had some steamy kissing scenes. But that doesn’t mean that she’s taking the “sexy” route in her upcoming projects.

As a matter of fact, Carla is doing a little action in the MMFF entry “Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” starring opposite Governor ER Ejercito. She’s also doing drama in Regal’s “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” which is also an MMFF entry this year. And next year, she’s a cast-member in the period film “El Presidente” starring the Superstar Nora Aunor.

Mike Tan assumes the role in this new soap opera which was originally offered to Paulo Avelino who recently transferred to the Kapamilya network.

Mike Tan‘s leading ladies in the soap are Michelle Madrigal and Carla Abellana.

Also in the cast of Kung Aagawin Mo ang Langit are Ricky Davao, Sharmaine Centenera, and Will Devaughn.

“Kung Aagawin Mo ang Langit” premieres September 19 on GMA-7.

“My Neighbor’s Wife,” is said to be a controversial sexy drama flick that deals with infidelity and how it will redefine the meaning of love.

Jake Cuenca and Carla Abellana play husband and wife in the movie while Dennis Trillo and Lovi Poe portray lovers. All four are friends but their friendship turns sour when the character of Lovi engages the character of Jake in a forbidden romance.

Directed by Jun Lana, “My Neighbor’s Wife” is set to open in theaters on September 14.

Carla Abellana and Geoff Eigenmann were on-screen partners in Rosalinda, The Last Prince and Basahang Ginto.

They got separated for a while on the last quarter of 2010 as Geoff was paired with Glaiza de Castro in Grazilda and Carla Abellana was paired with Dennis Trillo in The Last Romance.

This year, Carla and Geoff will be reunited in the upcoming primetime series “Magic Palayok.” This is their second title role in a primetime series as a loveteam after Rosalinda and their fourth overall after The Last Prince and Basahang Ginto.

Their last project together was the afternoon soap opera Mars Ravelo’s Basahang Ginto and it’s their most successful team-up because the said project was able to top the daytime race not only in Mega Manila but also in Kantar Media’s national TV ratings. This is perhaps the reason why GMA decided to bring them back again in the primetime block.

“Magic Palayok” is set to replace Bantatay which is set to air its final episode on February 25, 2011.

But beneath that fragile image, she’s also got what it takes to succeed in a topsy-turvy world like show business. And so, she got all the right breaks as a showbiz newbie via two popular TV series, Rosalinda and Basahang Ginto.

These vibrant traits didn’t escape the eyes of Regal matriarch Lily Monteverde and her daughter Roselle Monteverde-Teo, who instantly signed her up as a full-fledged Regal Baby.

From her contract comes Carla’s biggest movie break, the Funeraria episode in the horror trilogy, Shake, Rattle & Roll XII, which is one of Regal’s entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

From doing plain drama on TV, Carla shifts gears on the big screen and takes on a part that would definitely give moviegoers goosebumps and send them screaming at wit’s end.

Shooting Funeraria proved to be a breeze save for some minor incidents that left the young actress literally holding on to dear life.

Recounts a cast member, “Napasabak nga siya sa matitinding katatakutang eksena sa movie. Nariyang mapilayan siya habang tumatakbo sa isang eksena sa movie. Gusto kasi niyang tuklasin ang sikreto ng pamilya ni Sid Lucero na may-ari ng misteryosong punerarya kaya sari-saring panganib ang sinuong ng karakter ni Carla para
mabunyag ang lihim ng pamilya.

”Sa totoo lang, hindi alintana ni Carla ang hirap habang sinu-shoot
ang mapaghamong eksena niya sa ’SR&R.’ Tutal naman, laging nakaalalay sa kanya si Sid sa matitinding scenes na ginagawa niya.

”‘Yun nga lang, marami ang nakakapansing sobrang malapit si Sid kay
Carla. Kaya naman hindi maiwasang mapansin ito ng mga kasamahan nila sa episode.

“Parang hindi na kasi normal ‘yung pagki-care ni Sid kay Carla lalo
na kapag mahirap ang ipinagagawa sa kanya ni Direk Jerrold (Tarog).

”Nang mapilayan nga si Carla sa isang eksenang tumakbo ito ng makita ang ga halimaw, aba, agad umalalay si Sid at siya pa ang nagbuhat kay Carla nang hirap na siya lumakad. Siguradong na-attract din siya sa maamong mukha ni Carla.

“Kaya naman pala kapag dumadalaw si Geoff (Eigenmann) sa shooting,
iwas si Sid na lumapit kay Carla. Kasi naman si Geoff, never din namang
pinapansin masyado ang kanyang pinsan. Nakarating siguro sa kanya ang tsismis na sobrang mag-care ang pinsan niya kay Carla.”

Well, who can blame Sid? Carla is beauty and brains combined. And that makes her a perfect catch.
