Claudine Barretto, Richard Gutierrez & Anne Curtis to Star in ‘In Your Eyes’

Stars will align in the upcoming Viva Films and GMA Films co-production “In Your Eyes.”

Since Mark Anthony Fernandez is busy shooting the upcoming GMA teleserye “Diva”, his reunion movie with ex-girlfriend Claudine Barretto will be shelved for the mean time. Viva Films, however, asked Richard Gutierrez to star with Claudine and the Captain Barbell star agreed without having second thoughts.

What’s even more exciting about this GMA Films and Viva Films co-production is that Anne Curtis will also star in it! It has a working title “In Your Eyes” based from the popular love song by George Benson and revived by Regine Velasquez.

Claudine tweeted about this movie the other day:

“I’m at GMA for our story conference and presentation ng anthology. Yes, I’m doing a movie with Anne Curtis and Richard Gutierrez. The story is beautiful so trust me co’z I am very hands on and choosy in choosing my movies and scripts very well kaya nga matagal ako bago gumawa ng movie because I really choose the best scripts. Di yung tanggap lang ng tanggap. Its really new. Basta di ko ma-explain, ganda ng script.”

Richard Gutierrez, on the other hand, will have to give up the hosting stint for Survivor Philippines Season 3 because they will begin filming “In Your Eyes” and at the same time he will also start shooting Captain Barbell immediately after the finale of Full House. He is really interested in Survivor Philippines 3 but he will be very busy in the coming days.

Richard Gutierrez‘ next leading lady on the silverscreen is the Optimum Star Claudine Barretto.

Richard expressed his excitement after being told that he will star with Claudine Barretto on his next film project:

“It’s really exciting for me and it’s a surprise na makakatrabaho ko si Ms. Claudine Barretto kasi hindi ko na-imagine na makakatrabaho ko siya sa isang pelikula, she’s one of our finest actresses today. It’s really an honor to be able to work with her,” he said.

Richard’s next tv project, on the other hand, is the reboot of the Mars Ravelo fantaserye Captain Barbell. GMA is offering model Georgina Wilson, Richard’s ex-girlfriend, the leading lady role in the said fantaserye. Georgina has not decided yet if she will cross-over to acting and leave modeling.

While working in his upcoming movie and fantaserye, Richard is also among being considered to host the third season of Survivor Philippines. The position vacated by Paolo Bediones is also being offered to Dingdong Dantes and Ryan Agoncillo. Ryan declined so the stint is now between Richard and Dingdong. Richard is hopeful for this project because it will be his first time, if ever the stint is given to him, to host a reality program.

ABS-CBN’s Statement Regarding Dolphy’s Transfer to TV5

Mr. Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN’s head of Corporate Communications issued a short statement regarding Dolphy’s transfer to TV5.

Starmometer posted an article last January 26 regarding the alleged transfer of Dolphy to the Ka-Shake network. The rumor was confirmed last February 1 via Nitz Miralles‘ column in Pilipino Star Ngayon followed by a report by Ricky Lo.

The King of Comedy was an exclusive star of ABS-CBN for almost 2 decades. He said he made the decision after meeting with TV5 executives last week. The Ka-Shake station promised to give him a sitcom with some of his children.

In an interview by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Dolphy explains his decision to transfer:

“I think ABS-CBN felt bad about it. But I just wanted to work. I’ve been waiting for a job for the past 3 years,” he said. “I love ABS-CBN, but I need to move on. I’ll be working with TV5 in the meantime, but anytime ABS-CBN needs me, I’ll just be here.”

ABS-CBN, on the other hand, via their head of Corporate Communications Bong Osorio issued a short statement regarding the transfer:

The 81-year-old comedian assured ABS-CBN that he will remain open if ever the kapamilya network needs him. His contract with TV5 is non-exclusive, therefore, he can come back to ABS-CBN in the future.

Aside from Dolphy, the Diamond Star Maricel Soriano also signed a non-exclusive contract with TV5. The Queen of Philippine Movies Susan Roces and the Optimum Star Claudine Barretto, on the other hand, transferred to GMA-7.

Mark Anthony Fernandez Pisses Off Ex-GF Claudine Barretto

Claudine Barretto expressed her disappointment after her ex-BF Mark Anthony Fernandez was a no-show in the briefing of their upcoming movie.

According to Claudine, she and the whole production team of their Viva/Unitel movie waited for hours but the Darna star did not appear or at least send a text message that he will not make it to the meeting.

“I did not call for this meeting, he called for this meeting…naging 2 pm, naging 4, and then naging…walang Mark…so ‘yon….wala rin kaming plano na hintayin siya,” Claudine said in an interview by Chika Minute.

After Claudine signed a contract with GMA, one of the plans the network has for her was to revive her loveteam with Mark Anthony Fernandez. The network even pulled out Mark Anthony from Darna to make way for the said project. Because of this, the reunion movie of Claudine and Mark Anthony might not push through.

“Two months kaming nag-antay, at two months maraming walang trabaho…Yung crew, mga staff because lang nag-aantay kami sa wala…Yong mga kasama ko doon [Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent arm], kahit sobrang sikat na sila, they were all very humble and very considerate of others,” she added.

As of this writing, there’s still no word regarding the matter from Mark Anthony’s camp. The actor seems to prioritize his upcoming primetime series with Regine Velasquez entitled “Diva” than his reunion movie with his ex-flame.

Claudine Barretto is Now a Kapuso!

In a sudden turn of events, the Optimum star Claudine Barretto transferred to GMA-7!

Claudine Barretto has just signed a two-year contract with GMA-7 earlier today. 24 Oras, the primetime news program of GMA 7, has just reported that Claudine is now a kapuso and she is topbilling a primetime teleserye, a movie and other projects very soon.

Present in the contract signing are GMA’s big bosses like Atty. Felipe Gozon (CEO and President), Mr. Jimmy Duavit (COO and Vice President), Anette Gozon Abrogar (GMA Films President), and Wilma Galvante (SVP for Entertainment TV).

“Everything was really really fast, itong pangyayaring ito. Hindi talaga kami prepared, like yesterday, sinabi ok we’ll sign na today…” Claudine said.

EVP and COO of GMA Network Gilberto Duavit, Jr. is very happy that Claudine signed a two-year contract for GMA.

“Sa wakas! Si Claudine ay maraming tagahangang mga kapuso at isa na ako roon, at di naman kaila na si Raymart ay kapuso rin, so welcome to the family!” he said.

Incidentally, two other kapamilya stars — comedian Bayani Agbayani and BeBench winner Carlo Guevarra — have also transferred to the kapuso network.

Claudine Barretto will have a Guest Role in ‘May Bukas Pa’

Striking while the iron is hot, ABS-CBN will fuel the top-rating “May Bukas Pa” by the inclusion of Optimum Star Claudine Barretto in the primetime teleserye in a special guest role.

This is Claudine’s first TV role this year following last year’s drama series Iisa Pa Lamang which topped NUTAM on its final episodes. She starred opposite Gabby Concepcion and Diether Ocampo.

In May Bukas Pa, Claudine will play the woman who will find Santino (played by Zaijan Jaranilla) after the boy runs away from the foster home. The show’s story is expected to become more dramatic with the addition of Claudine who is known in the industry as the Optimum Teleserye Queen.

Claudine’s role in May Bukas Pa this month is quite similar to her real life because she is very fond of children and has been an avid supporter of underprivileged kids.

Since marrying actor Raymart Santiago in 2006, we haven’t seen much of Claudine in movies and tv shows. She has chosen to devote more of her time to her family especially to her two children, four-year-old Sabina and one-and-half-year-old Santino. Her last movie was the 2006 top-grosser Sukob.

“Sa oras lang, I will not allow na mas maraming time sa trabaho ko kesa sa mga anak ko. Every little thing you do, it’s going to affect them so hindi ka lang puwede kagaya ng dati na kahit ano accept lang,” she said.

May Bukas Pa is still the no. 1 tv program nationwide based on the tv viewership survey by Taylor Nelson Sofres. Last February 19, the teleserye garnered a whopping 40.9% rating nationwide, it’s highest since its pilot episode last February 2.

Marian, Dingdong and Claudine Honored at Walk of Fame

Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes and Claudine Barretto were among the 3rd batch of stars honored in the Walk of Fame, the local version of the one in Hollywood Boulevard.

Just like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, our local stars receive stars on the sidewalk. The brain child of the local version is Master Showman himself, German “Kuya Germs” Moreno. The Walk of Fame is located in Eastwood City, Libis, Quezon City.

Only selected stars are immortalized in the Walk of Fame, and according to Kuya Germs, these stars are those who have invaluable contribution in the local showbiz industry, regardless if the celebrity is still alive or not.

Angel Locsin and Claudine Barretto Settle Their Dispute

Angel Locsin and Claudine Barretto settled their reported rift together with the executives of ABS-CBN last July 23.

Here is the official statement issued by ABS-CBN regarding the misunderstanding between its two stars:

“Marami na ang nasabi tungkol sa pagkikita nina Ms. Claudine Barretto at Ms. Angel Locsin nung July 4, 2008.

“Dahil dito, nagkaroon na ng meeting noong Miyerkyules, July 23, sa pagitan nina Claudine at Angel kasama ang ilang ABS-CBN executives na sina Ms. Malou Santos, Ms. Cory Vidanes, Mr. Roxy Liquigan, Ms. Mariole Alberto ng Star Magic, ang manager ni Angel na si Ms. Becky Aguila, si Mr. Raymart Santiago [mister ni Claudine], at ilan pang malalapit sa kanila.

“Sa naganap na pagkikita noong July 4, nagkausap sina Claudine at Angel tungkol sa ilang mga isyu na sa kasamaang palad ay napalaki at naging eksaherado base sa kuwento ng ibang kampo.

“Sa naganap na meeting, nilinaw ang mga isyung ito, kinilala at naintindihan ang nararamdaman at emosyon ng bawat isa. Naging malinaw ang lahat at nagkaroon ng kapatwaran.

Angel Locsin Breaks Silence Regarding Rift with Claudine

Angel Locsin’s camp finally broke their silence regarding the “tarayan” issue that allegedly took place at Pin Antonio’s salon.

It started as a blind item until Gretchen Barretto, via her interview in the press conference of Maalaala Mo Kaya, confirmed that there was indeed a “tarayan” between Angel and her younger sister Claudine. Gretchen even implied na “baka sigawan din siya ni Angel” meaning the Lobo star raised her voice to Claudine.

There are many versions of this “blind item” and another one was posted in Pinoy Entertainment Portal:

Ayon sa kuwentong nakarating sa PEP, nang minsang magpaayos si Angel sa Pin Antonio Hairdressing ay dumating si Claudine. Tinanong daw ni Claudine si Angel kung totoong umalis na siya kay Becky Aguila at ang manager niya na ay si Ms. Malou Santos, ang managing director ng Star Cinema.

Itinanggi raw ito ni Angel at tinanong si Claudine kung kanino niya nabalitaan ito. Ayon kay Claudine, nakuha niya ang impormasyong ito sa make-up artist na nag-aayos mismo sa kanya that time, si Alex. Pero muli itong itinanggi ni Angel.

Nang tanungin daw ni Angel si Alex kung kanino niya nakuha ang balita, sinabi ng make-up artista na sa ina ng child actress na si Charming Lagusad, na alaga rin ni Becky. Ayon daw sa kuwento ng ina ni Charming ay umalis na sila sa poder ni Becky at pati raw si Angel.

Nang lumabas daw si Claudine para magpahangin ay sinundan siya ni Angel, na hindi mapakali dahil sa lumalabas na balita. Nilapitan daw ni Angel si Claudine at nagpaliwanag na hindi talaga totoo ang balitang si Malou Santos na ang kanyang manager.

Ayon naman sa isa pang kuwento, si Angel daw ang kumumpronta kay Claudine dahil ang pinakabata sa Barretto sisters daw ang nagpakalat sa balitang kaya sunud-sunod ang magagandang projects ng dating Kapuso star sa ABS-CBN ay dahil hawak na siya ng isang top executive ng Kapamilya network, na ang tinutukoy ay ang managing director ng Star Cinema.

This time, Star Cinema head Malou Santos was now included in the picture. Based from the above-mentioned story, Claudine pushed Angel Locsin’s buttons by asking her if the rumor that she’s no longer managed by Becky Aguila is true. The Lobo star allegedly denied the rumor but could not contain herself, so she confronted the Soap Opera queen and that’s when the “tarayan” started.

Last July 15, Tuesday, Angel Locsin’s camp talked with the executives of ABS-CBN and Star Cinema. Aside from Angel and her manager Becky Aguila, they also brought with them Angel’s sister “Ella” and one employee of Pin Antonio’s salon as witnesses.

â€œBeng was there, and base sa kuwento niya, walang sigawang nangyari and both were very professional habang nag-uusap. Nilinaw rin ni Beng na wala naman siyang nakitang sinipa ni Angel ang silya at hindi rin dinuro si Alex,â€ Becky Aguila narrated.

She clarified that Angel did not kick the chair nor pointed a finger to makeup artist named Alex. The young actress just told him in a civil manner, â€œKuya, kung hindi ka sigurado, sabihin mo, kasi pagmumulan ito ng issue.â€

Becky explained that they did not react to the news right after Gretchen Barretto spilled the beans out of respect to the management of ABS-CBN.

Becky added, “I guess it was an unfortunate incident, a small misunderstanding blown out of proportion and walang may gusto ng nangyari. Ayaw din ni Angel ng may kaaway, lalo pa nga si Claudine dahil idol niya ito.”

Angel’s camp is hoping that the two kapamilya stars in the issue could talk and settle the dispute caused by some misunderstanding.
