Although it ended as the number one show in Mega Manila, its rating of 32.9 percent is relatively low compared to its pilot episode rating of 44% last August 10. The show posted its highest TV rating in Mega Manila of 47.5% last Aug. 18, when Narda became Darna for the first time.

Placing a near second to Darna last Friday night was The Last Prince with 31.4 percent. Agua Bendita was trailing in third place. Due to the high ratings of The Last Prince, its rival program Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo dropped to 7th place that even late primetime program Rubi registered a higher rating.

Based on the tv ratings by AGB Nielsen last Tuesday and Wednesday, Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo is a consistent 2nd placer. But in the Taylor Nelson Sofres data for Thursday, The Last Prince is the 2nd placer. AGB Nielsen Philippines did not release data for January 21, Thursday, “due to extremely low polling” that’s why we took the Mega Manila data from TNS for the said date.

Darna, the country’s original Pinay superhero, faces another set of super villains that will put all her strength and powers to the test as the program enters its newest season this December on GMA Telebabad.

Starring Primetime Queen Marian Rivera as Darna, the country’s number one telefantasya continues to cater to all viewers of all ages with its remarkable stunts and adventures laced with touching storyline plus state-of-the-art effects.

After repossessing all her powers from her previous supervillains, Darna’s adventures will be more engaging as four more terrifying super creatures are about to wreak havoc every night – Serpina, Babaeng Manananggal, Babaeng Demonyita and Electra, the Queen of Planet Women.

Serpina, portrayed by Katrina Halili, is the daughter of Kobra and Babaeng Impakta. After her half-sister Valentina disappeared, Serpina has no choice but to fulfill her father’s wish – that is to multiply their race. Just like her half-sister, Serpina will also fall for Darna’s first love Eduardo (Mark Anthony Fernandez). She will do everything to get the man’s attention and get rid of Narda, the alter-ego of Darna.

Sexbomb Rochelle Pangilinan, meanwhile, will play the role of ferocious Babaeng Manananggal. She will disguise as Dr. Deborrah during the day to easily spot pregnant women and other possible victims in town then transforms as an ugly winged monster at night. Deborrah holds a secret that is the key to unveil the past of Ding, the only person who knows the real identity of Darna.

Starstruck Batch 3 Ultimate survivor Jackie Rice, on the other hand, plays the character of Helga, a young woman who holds the most beautiful and angelic face in town. Unfortunately, she will be possessed by a powerful evil spirit with extreme wrath and fury that will make her the supervillain called Babaeng Demonyita.

A handsome foreigner will suddenly appear in the small town of San Martin. His name is Vladimir played by Celebrity Duets 3 finalist Akihiro Sato. But behind his godlike features is a wicked and vicious vampire who is out to kill innocent people.

The battle between good and evil continues with the arrival of the most powerful nemesis Darna could ever have – Electra, the Queen of Planet Women. Portrayed no less than by the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, Electra is a queen from a different planet who has an incredible strength and power out to conquer the earth with the help of her stalwart female legions.

The original Mars Ravelo comics classic, has been soaring heights since its premiere. The viewers’ interest in Darna’s electrifying story has been translated into high TV ratings.

Based on data from AGB Nielsen Philippines, Darna posted an average household rating of 35.1% from September 1 to October 16 in Mega Manila while its competition logged an average of 26.9% for the same period.

Darna’s success is not only due to its powerhouse cast led by Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, multi-awarded actor-director Eddie Garcia, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Iwa Moto and others, but also because the action-packed and emotionally-gripping scenes have appealed to viewers of all ages.

In the story, Darna has overpowered the supervillains who wrecked havoc in their town – Babaeng Impakta (Nadine Samonte), Babaeng Lawin (Ehra Madrigal) and Babaeng Tuod (Francine Prieto).

It can be recalled that Darna was about to kill the evil Impi (Mura) when the latter’s twin sister Roma a.k.a. Babaeng Impakta jumped from the church tower to end her life. Roma’s body was buried but Impi’s was seized by Dr. Morgan (Ricky Davao) for experimentation.

Then, Armida a.k.a Babaeng Lawin arrived and attacked people. She wanted to get even with her brother, Father Mateo (Eddie Garcia), the town’s parish priest. During her fight with Darna, Babaeng Lawin accidentally hit herself with her own feather blades. But instead of expressing gratitude for once again saving the town, Darna was condemned by Father Mateo and his supporters for killing Babaeng Lawin. This caused the young superheroine to feel reluctant in her mission to save the world.

But when Babaeng Tuod (Francine Prieto) came in to sow terror and asked for Darna, Narda decided to save the world again. To destroy the giant driftwood, Darna set Babaeng Tuod on fire and threw her in a volcano.

Unknown to Darna, Babaeng Tuod did not die, but rather changed to her human form named Lucifera. She went to the orphanage where Narda lives. Impi, meanwhile, managed to escape the laboratory and went back to the orphanage to kill Narda.

More thrilling action and suspense await viewers in the coming episodes because more than the supervillains, Darna will be facing Kobra (Paolo Contis) and his evil children – Valentina (Iwa Moto), Serpentina (Sabrina Man) and Zandro (also played by Paolo Contis).

Darna airs weeknights after 24 Oras on GMA Telebabad.

ABS-CBN’s “Lovers in Paris,” on the other hand, is stronger in Mega Manila than in nationwide tv ratings. It’s the top-rating ABS-CBN program in Mega Manila last Tuesday and Thursday.

And it’s the comedy sitcom “Show Me Da Manny” starring the Darna star with the boxing champ Manny Pacquiao. The sitcom garnered 23.7 last Sunday night to clinch the top spot.

Last Saturday after Kapuso Mo, Jessica Sojo stole the no. 1 spot from Talentadong Pinoy, Imbestigador now occupied the primetime leadership position with 35.2%. Talentadong Pinoy settled at no. 2 while Kapuso Mo, Jessica Sojo dropped to no. 3 position.

On the other hand, TV5′s Who Wants to be a Millionaire has gained some grounds and entered the Top 10 once again at no. 5 position. Celebrity Duets settled for no. 6.

Tayong Dalawa is heading to its series finale and its viewers are now anticipating its conclusion. It was able to hit no. 1 again last Friday with 37% followed by May Bukas Pa with 36.3%. In third place is TV Patrol World with 34.2% followed by Dahil May Isang Ikaw with 31.8%. Darna received its lowest TNS nationwide rating of 29.3% to settle for 5th place in the primetime race.

The order was changed last Monday night when May Bukas Pa took the lead and Tayong Dalawa settled for 2nd place. While TV Patrol World retained its 3rd position, Darna returned to its usual 4th place position in the TNS nationwide ratings followed by Dahil May Isang Ikaw in 5th place.

The daytime race, on the other hand, is still ruled by the longest running noontime show Eat Bulaga! Consistent 2nd and 3rd placer are Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Akin and Ngayong at Kailanman respectively.

According to a report by AGB Nielsen Philippines via PEP, in the pilot week of Darna from August 9 to 15, it captured the number one spot with an average TV rating of 35.6 percent nationwide. Darna’s audience share reached 47.3%, which translates to more than 2.7 million projected number of TV households in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM).

Marian Rivera‘s other primetime series that emerged no. 1 in the NUTAM race were MariMar and Dyesebel.

In the Taylor Nelson Sofres national TV ratings, however, Darna has yet to emerge no. 1. It’s best performance was finishing second place to TV Patrol World last August 11. TV Patrol World garnered 35.5% while Darna received 35.4%. The difference was only 0.1% for Darna to take the lead in that fateful night when it bested its biggest rival May Bukas Pa which only got 34.6 percent.

Although Darna wasn’t able to beat May Bukas Pa completely (yet) in the TNS survey, it has already bested other kapamilya primetime series like the KIMERALD starrer Tayong Dalawa and the Angel Locsin teleserye Only You.

A whopping 40.2% is the average rating of the Marian Rivera fantaserye for the week of August 9 to 15. It’s more than 10% higher than second placer Tayong Dalawa which garnered 29.3 percent.

Ertswhile leader May Bukas Pa, on the other hand, dropped to 4th place with 27.7 percent giving way to 24 Oras which came in third with 28 percent.

GMA-7 had 17 shows in the Top 30 programs, while ABS-CBN had 12 and TV 5 had one.
