According to a report by SNN, Cristine Reyes is well known in Korea and they call her “Eva Fonda”. Although she did not win in the Best Drama Actress category, Cristine accepted the special prize awarded to Eva Fonda.

The Grand Prize went to Memoirs in China, a period drama series from China. The Jury’s Special Prizes went to Taiwan’s “Taipei 24H” and China’s “Live a Luxury and Dissipation Life,”‘ while the Norwegian series “Maria”‘ took home the Best Miniseries Award. Colombia’s “The Cartel” won the Excellent Series Drama Award.

169 dramas from 37 countries competed in the 4th edition of Seoul International Drama Awards. Other Philippine entries include May Bukas Pa and the “Remembering Soil” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya.

The Cristine Reyes-starrer registered an impressive 26.8% when it premiered last Monday night. It’s the no. 1 kapamilya program that night and 6th overall with GMA’s Luna Mystika topping the primetime race as usual.

It’s a different story on Tuesday as Eva Fonda dropped to 21.7 percent placing 9th overall. Even the pre-primetime game show “Family Feud” received a better rating of 22.6% in Mega Manila. This is also the night when 7 GMA programs penetrated primetime’s Top 10 with their 3 fantaseryes dominating the race namely Luna Mystika, Gagambino and LaLola.

In the weekend ratings, Eat Bulaga grabbed the lead from Pinoy Records last Saturday while Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho topped Saturday’s primetime. SOP ruled again in the daytime race last Sunday while ABS-CBN’s Rated K snatched the no. 1 position in the primetime race.

Kapuso-turned-kapamilya talent Cristine Reyes will star in the upcoming ABS-CBN soap opera, Eva Fonda, a remake of the 1976 hit movie Mrs. Eva Fonda, 16 starring Alma Moreno.

The series will be directed by Jon Reid and Frasco Mortiz. The cast will include Jason Abalos, Joross Gamboa, Princess Ryan, Jean Saburit, Janna Garcia, and Baron Geisler. Eva Fonda, which starts airing on May 19, is Cristine’s first major project under the kapamilya network since her released by GMA-7 as their talent last month.

Eva Fonda is adapted from th 1976 blockbuster film written by Pablo S. Gomez and directed by Emmanuel Borlaza. It is said to be the movie that launched the then little known Alma Moreno.
