GMA Network’s 24 Oras, Saksi, and 24 Oras Weekend remain as the go-to newscasts for more viewers, according to figures from the more widely recognized TV ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Mega Manila and Total Urban Luzon household audience shares from June 1 to 30, 2011 show GMA-7′s newscasts besting competing programs from other stations.

The Kapuso Network’s flagship primetime newscast 24 Oras, which recently won the Bronze Award in the News or News Feature category at the 32nd Telly Awards in New York City, USA, was the clear winner in Mega Manila with 37.5 share points compared to TV Patrol, which only managed 32.9.

In Luzon—which makes up 77 percent of total television households nationwide—24 Oras’ 36.7 share points again outclassed TV Patrol’s 33.6.

Saksi, which also won the Bronze Award in the same category at the recent Telly Awards, dominated ABS-CBN’s Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) and TV5′s Aksyon Journalismo in Mega Manila with 32.8, 29.2 and 13.6 share points respectively.

The Kapuso Network’s late night newscast led by 3.6 points against SNN and 19.2 points against Aksyon Journalismo. Luzon ratings figures also show Saksi, with 32.8, topping SNN’s 29.4 and Aksyon Journalismo’s 13.2.

On Saturdays and Sundays, 24 Oras Weekend continued GMA News’ dominance–posting 32.3 share points in Mega Manila as against ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol Weekend’s 23.5. 24 Oras Weekend also led in Luzon with 31.9 compared to TV Patrol Weekend’s 24.9.

Bannered by the most credible names in local broadcasting today: Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco for 24 Oras; Arnold Clavio and Vicky Morales for Saksi; Jiggy Manicad and Pia Arcangel for 24 Oras Weekend—and powered by a formidable news team that has won international honors, including the only Peabody Awards won by a Philippine broadcast news organization, GMA-7′s News and Public Affairs organization continue to work tirelessly to earn the trust of the viewers.

Several days leading to Pres. Noynoy Aquino‘s State of the Nation Address, the Kapuso Network’s newscasts will air segments called “Mga Pangako ni Pnoy,” a progress report on the six supposed priority areas in PNoy’s administration. And on July 25, GMA-7 will mount a comprehensive, multi-platform coverage of the State of the Nation Address.

GMA News and Public Affairs is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. To mark this milestone, GMA News comes up with “Panata sa Bayan,” a song that will serve as the organization’s official anthem.

Sugarfree and Kris Gebilaguin translated GMA News and Public Affairs’ vow for unbiased reportage into “Panata sa Bayan’s” powerful music and poetic lyrics. Sugarfree sings the band version, while Ms. Kuh Ledesma delivers a powerful solo version of the anthem.

Touted to be a first in Philippine television history, “Panata sa Bayan” speaks of GMA News’ commitment to delivering only the untainted truth.

“Panata sa Bayan’s” music video is bannered by the pillars of GMA News and Public Affairs—Mike Enriquez, Mel Tiangco, Jessica Soho, Arnold Clavio, Vicky Morales, and Howie Severino with GMA-7′s roster of news reporters.

Together, they vow to uphold the organization’s slogan “Walang kinikilingan. Walang pinoprotektahan. Walang kasinungalingan. Serbisyong totoo lamang.”

The music video premiered on 24 Oras. The song will also be heard over AM radio station Super Radyo DZBB 594 and FM radio station Barangay LS 97.1 starting February 27.

The men and women of GMA News has prepared an anniversary special which will be hosted by veteran broadcast journalist Jessica Soho.

1959.

The year when Fidel Castro assumed power, Soviet premier Nikita Krushchev toured the US, Tibet’s dalai lama escaped to India and the USSR’s Lunik III photographed the dark side of the moon for the first time.

It was a year of new beginnings.

It was then that GMA News was established.

Flashforward to 2009.

GMA News is now known as the most respected Philippine news organization garnering local and international awards not only for its newscasts but also for its anchors.

It has set trends as to how news is produced and delivered.

What happened in the past 50 years? What led to GMA News being the leader in its field?

Join the Philippines’ most awarded broadcast journalist Jessica Soho as she traces the roots of GMA News and shares how the stories it produced impacted on the public. By tracking items involved in news events, Jessica revisits some of the stories GMA News did in the past half century.

As Jessica views the yellow dress Cory Aquino wore in her oath-taking as President of the Republic of the Philippines, reminisce about the bloodless People Power Revolution of 1986.

Set eyes once again on the “Pope Mobile”, the vehicle Pope John Paul II rode when he visited the country, and witness one of GMA News’ landmark coverages.

Check out the equipment used to mount GMA News Live, the first news bulletins in the country aired throughout the day, produced to keep the public aware of the latest updates on the Persian Gulf War in 1991.

Learn about important stories produced with the two electronic news gathering vans first used by Jessica and Arnold Clavio for their coverages as remote reporters of the 15-minute afternoon newscast Saksi back in 1995.

Travel back in time and learn about how GMA News put 50 years of history on air. Don’t miss “Limang Dekada” hosted by Jessica Soho on December 6 airing on SNBO.

An article about a boy infected with AIDS after eating at a Karate Kid restaurant in Makati proliferated on e-mails last week with screenshot that the news originated from GMANews.tv.

Apparently, the article came from a sham website with url: http://gmanewstv.comoj.com/karatekidaids.htm masquerading as an article from GMANews.tv using similar layout as that of the kapuso website.

Here’s the screencap attached to the bogus e-mail:

GMANews.tv pointed out that the perpetrators obviously made a screen grab of the nation page that contained the Red Cross kidnapping story, altered the original article and inserted the “Karate Kid AIDS” story and posted it online at http://gmanewstv.comoj.com/karatekidaids.htm.

The article was allegedly written by a “Karen Balagtsun” and GMA has no reporter, writer or any employee bearing the said name.

GMANews.tv strongly refuted that the bogus site does not belong to them or any of their affiliates, including its parent company, GMA Network Inc. and its Internet unit, GMA New Media Inc.

GMANews.TV is continuing its investigation into the matter to find the culprit behind the hoax news that has a sole intention of discrediting the integrity of the restaurant and GMA News and Public Affairs.
