Hosted by award-winning actor Jericho Rosales, versatile actress and host Iya Villania, and comedy princess Melai Cantiveros, “I Dare You” will test the resilience and determination of celebrity Kapamilya challengers, who will carry-out a series of challenges in order to help win a reward for ordinary Filipinos worthy of the title, “Bidang Kapamilya.”

The “Bidang Kapamilya” are everyday Pinoys who bravely face life’s challenges no matter how hard they get. They are the market vendors, the teachers in far-flung areas, the laborers, stuntmen, garbage and junk collectors, farmers, senior citizens, people with disability, among others.

Celebrity Kapamilya challengers will enter their world and experience their lives first hand to understand their way of life and to also to help win a reward for them by beating other celebrities in the challenge.

In the first episode of “I Dare You,” popular dancer and theater actor Gab Valenciano and multi-awarded actress Alessandra De Rossi will join Jericho in his return to his roots in Marikina, where he carried loads and sold fish in a wet market.

This is the first time the public gets to see Gab and Alessandra without the make-up, without their assistants and performing without any “cuts” or “take-twos.” Viewers will also hear Jericho’s inspiring rags-to-riches story, as told and demonstrated by the actor himself.

Jericho clarified that though the celebrities will have to dress down and work, it is not the goal of the program to deglamorize them. He said the stars are actually given the opportunity to show who they really are behind the camera and away from the limelight.

In an interview with Push he explained, “Our program works both ways. The ordinary people get to see the real emotions of the artists, and the artists get to see how an ordinary person lives.”

Iya added that the celebrity Kapamilya challengers aren’t the only ones who will get inspiration from the real-life and unscripted drama featured in the show. She said viewers will also learn from the experiences of the “Bidang Kapamilya” and the celebrities.

“I Dare You is here to inspire and challenge people to face their personal trials, just like what our Kapamilyas are doing no matter how difficult their lives are already,” she said.

Meanwhile, although “I Dare You” is filled with heart-tugging stories, viewers can also expect light and funny moments courtesy of Melai, who will join her close friends Jericho and Iya in guiding celebrity Kapamilya challengers.

“I am the wacky, naughty, and less serious host in the show,” said the former Pinoy Big Brother Big Winner. Like Jericho and Iya, Melai said she appreciates the depth of this project.

“Our hosting here is full of heart and purpose,” she said.

Our very own Jericho Rosales recently bagged the “Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking Acting” award in the recently concluded Newport Beach Film Festival in California. This is the first international acting award for the 31-year-old Kapamilya actor who was recognized for his portrayal of the character “Victor,” the Filipino who created the destructive “love bug” virus in the film “Subject: I Love You.”

Starring opposite Jericho in the film is Briana Evigan, the female lead in the movie Step Up 2 the Streets. It was helmed by Fil-Am director Francis dela Torre and produced by Radiant Studios and Tectonic Films.

Also starring in the film are Kristine Bauer (True Blood), Dante Basco (Hook), Dean Cain (Lois and Clark), Black Eyes Peas’ Apl de Ap, Gary Valenciano and Joel Torre.

“Subject: I Love You” will soon hit Philippine theaters.

Jericho Rosales Wins Acting Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California originally appeared on Starmometer on May 10, 2011.

The world premiere of Kapamilya star Jericho Rosales‘ first international movie Subject: I Love You was sold out as Filipino-American fans flocked to the Newport Beach Film Festival in California last weekend.

In an interview by Chris Trondsend of Pacific Rim Video during the red carpet premiere of the movie, Jericho thanked his Filipino-American fans who came from as far as Alaska and New York to support him.

“Filipinos are very loving and they will support their fellow Filipino wherever will they be. Movies are big part of Filipino life and they just like this, it’s wonderful and heartwarming, I feel like I’m at home right now and I hope they’ll all enjoy, they’re just great, that’s all I can say,” he said.

ABS-CBN Publishing Inc. (API) proudly launched VANTAGE, a premiere photography magazine featuring the celebrity photographs of Philippines’ renowned “master of shutters” Mark Nicdao, with an exquisite grand launch, book signing and exhibit last March 6, Sunday at the Fashion Walk of Greenbelt 5, Makati City.

VANTAGE is the first ever API title that comes with eight collector’s edition cover, showcasing photographs of the fashion and entertainment industry’s crème de la crème from 2003 to present. The eight covers flaunt radiant poses of Kris Aquino; Sarah Geronimo; John Lloyd Cruz; Jericho Rosales; Bea Alonzo, Anne Curtis, KC Concepcion and Angel Locsin; Solenn Heusaff, Marian Rivera and Cristine Reyes.

“In 2003, when Mark was beginning his career, I first heard of this young new photographer and I saw some of his works. One of our first collaborations was the 20-page special supplement of Metro Magazine. It was very coherent. It was something very beautiful and there’s magic on it. For a long time we’ve been wanting to showcase Mark’s work in a more permanent platform,” said ABS-CBN Publishing’s Carlo Tadiar, who’s also the Content Unit Head of VANTAGE.

“There are so many people to thank for this project. I wanna thank first the one who gave me this luck—having to work with the most talented, the most beautiful, the most honest and the most real people here in Manila. I wanna thank everyone. Well, I just got out of the hospital due to stress. I had a huge migraine and now, I feel better that I see everyone here. This is my medicine,” said Mark after he was introduced.

Hosted by acclaimed events specialists Tim Yap and Mega daughter KC Concepcion, Mark Nicdao’s VANTAGE was attended by other most sought after celebrities – Georgina Wilson, Michelle Madrigal, Ruffa, Richard and Raymond Gutierrez, Kim Chiu, Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, Jericho Rosales, Bea Alonso, Bianca King, Lovi Poe, Carla Humphries, Liz Uy and Kris Aquino. Other VIPs were also there like Wil Stein.

A walk through of Nicdao’s favorite works was offered for the guests, where he shared the inspirations and stories behind the photographs. A chronicle of Nicdao’s colorful life was also presented, followed by a silent auction and an autograph signing by the master of photography himself. Party music was brought by DJ Jujiin Samonte.

The collector’s edition of Vantage will have a limited run—only 150 numbered copies printed per cover—and will be exclusively available in all Fully Booked outlets. The regular newsstand edition will be available in leading newsstands and bookstores nationwide on March 20.

He created the virus to track down the American girl, played by Briana Evigan (Step Up 2: D Streets, Sorority Row), that he met when the latter visited the Philippines.

Also starring in the romantic dramedy movie are Dean Cain (Lois and Clark) and Dante Basco (Take the Lead, Biker Boyz) and also our very own Gary Valenciano and Joel Torre.

Directed by Francis dela Torre, “Subject: I Love You” is set to hit theaters later this year.

Melissa Ricks Reunites with Matt Evans in ‘MMK’ originally appeared on Starmometer on February 17, 2011.

A local adaptation of the Koreanovela with the same title, “Green Rose” fuses four of the most-admired stars of today—Jericho Rosales, Anne Curtis, Jake Cuenca and Alessandra De Rossi as they portray major roles in the said series.

Jericho, whose last teleserye with ABS-CBN is ‘Dahil May Isang Ikaw’ opposite Kristine Hermosa, will breathe life to the character of Jerome Delgado, a simple man with simple dreams in life. He will do everything to protect his name. “Maganda yung papel ko dito. I can say na this is one of my favorite projects,” Jericho shared.

Meanwhile, Anne, whose last full-series was “The Wedding” back in 2009, is now very excited to play the role of Angela Tuazon, the woman who will fall in love with Jerome Delgado. “Namiss ko maging part ng teleserye talaga. Kaya now that I’m given the chance again, I will definitely do my best,” Anne expressed.

Jericho and Anne were paired in the film “Baler” in 2008 where Anne was nominated three times in separate award-giving bodies under the Best Actress category. On the other hand, Jericho won two Best Actor awards for his effective portrayal in the said movie.

Jake, who was part of the “Rubi” remake, is ecstatic about ABS-CBN’s upcoming primetime series “Green Rose,” “Eversince we started taping for Green Rose, excited na ko na umere yung series dahil, walang bola po, ang ganda ng kwento. Kahit pa part ako ng cast, gusto ko rin mapanood sa primetime ito,” Jake said. Jake is Edward Fuentabella in the series, a man who’s aggressive in achieving his goals even if it means betraying the people who have trusted him.

Alessandra will also be playing a vital part in the series as she portrays the character of Geena Rallos, the woman who’s willing to do anything for the love of Edward. Alessandra was last seen in ‘Wansapanataym’s Cara.’

Jericho, Anne, Jake and Alessandra will be supported by a league of high-caliber actors and actresses– Susan Africa, Ping Medina, Smokey Manaloto, Kitkat, Gardo Versoza, Ricardo Cipeda and Janus del Prado.

Directed by three critically-acclaimed directors in the country, Dondon Santos, Manny Palo and Darnel Joy Villaflor, “Green Rose” is an action-suspense drama that also tackles on a love story tweaked by dangerous factors.
