Manila was first exhibited at the 61st Cannes Film Festival and the 31st Moscow International Film Festival and it is set to be screened in 6 more international film festivals.

Now, Filipinos will finally have the chance to watch this black-and-white film at the following theaters, released by Star Cinema: SM North Edsa, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM Manila, SM Fairview, Robinsons Ermita, Robinsons Galleria, Gateway, Trinoma, Glorietta 4, Sta. Synopsis: In a story a lot of modern women can relate to, Rufa’s character is anxious to get married after her boyfriend (Mark Bautista) dumps her and all her girlfriends get married one after the other. At 30, Doris can feel her biological clock ticking. She can’t visualize the rest of her days tending a garden or looking after her family. For her, nothing can be worse than growing old, lonely and dying a virgin. She needs a man, and she needs one pronto!

So to make her dream of walking down the aisle come true the soonest time possible, Doris enlists the help of her best pal—the very handsome, very macho but very gay Randy (Paolo Contis)—and thus begins the search for the perfect husband. Will Doris end up with the drop-dead gorgeous Fil-Am bartender Hans (Rafael Rosell), the handsome and intellectual Sean (Alfred Vargas), or the zero self-esteem officemate Iñaki (Jon Avila)?

Or will she accept the fact that she’s destined to be single forever, and can be happy that way?

Status Single is set to premiere on January 28, 2009 as a Pre-Valentine presentation of Rufa’s On-Q 28 Productions and Viva Films.

This year’s theme is “wild and wet” and find out the 69 chosen hunks in the special supplement of Cosmopolitan Magazine called “Cosmo Men”. The supplement features 30 glossy pages containing 69 half-naked men in their wetness glory.

Two days ago, we revealed the 10 Centerfold Hunks for 2008 and they are (aside from Derek) Jon Avila, Macky Escalona, Bruce Quebral, Ron Morales, Akihiro Sato, Geoff Eigenmann, Rocky Salumbides, Billy Crawford, and Paolo Contis. 6 of them are kapamilya stars namely Jon, Derek, Bruce, Ron, Geoff and Billy. One one made it from the kapuso network and he is none other than Paolo Contis.

And of course, he is one of the hottest endorsers of Bench Body.

There are speculations that he will play the coveted role “Armando” in the highy-anticipated series on ABS-CBN “I Love Betty La Fea.”

Profile: Jon Avila (real name John Mullally) is a half-Irish half-Filipino model who won the title Century Tuna Superbod 2006 contest in the male category and later became a Bench endorser. His breakthrough to showbiz was via the reality show Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition. He starred as Kapitan Boom on his first major tv role on ABS-CBN.

What Makes Him Sexy: His gorgeous eyes and hot body make any girl melt.

Jay-R Siaboc will be Jon’s human counterpart while Maja Salvador will be their love interest. The superserye will also star the controversial Brazilian model Mariana del Rio.

Kapitan Boom is set to premiere on April 19, 2008 replacing I Am KC.

It is said that the tv series was adapted from DC comics’ Superman. Apparently, Jon’s look is very similar to the Brandon Routh, the last actor who played the man of steel.

On his relationship with PBB host Mariel Rodriguez, Jon Avila admitted that he was hurt that Mariel chose Zanjoe Marudo over him. He added that he will just focus more in learning how to act specially now that he has his very first lead role on a mini-series.
