The nominees for the 2009 International Emmy Awards was announced Monday, October 5, 2009 during a Press Conference at MIPCOM, Cannes, France.

17 countries received at least one nomination this year with England leading the pack with 9 nods followed by Brazil with 5 and triple tie in third place are Germany, Mexico and the Philippines with 3.

ABS-CBN got 2 nominations, one is for the Best Telenovela category for Kahit Isang Saglit and the other is for the Best Actress category for Angel Losin. Kahit Isang Saglit is the co-production of Malaysia and Philippines starring Jericho Rosales and Carmen Soo. Angel Locsin, on the other hand, was nominated for her performance in the top-rating fantaserye Lobo.

The third RP nomination comes from the GMA afternoon soap “Magdusa Ka.” The remake of the 80′s drama movie starred Dennis Trillo, Iwa Moto and Katrina Halili. It will also vie in the Best Telenovela category bringing the network war to the International Emmy’s as ABS-CBN’s Kahit Isang Saglit is also vying in the same category.

The winners for the 2009 International Emmy Awards will be revealed on November 23, 2009 at the Hilton New York Hotel. The event will be hosted by UK television star Graham Norton.

Angel Locsin, ‘Magdusa Ka’ and ‘Kahit Isang Saglit’ Nominated in the 37th International Emmy Awards originally appeared on Starmometer on October 5, 2009.

One reason for the dismal rating of “Kahit Isang Saglit” is the remarkable performance of its rival show, Survivor Philippines. The GMA reality show, despite it’s late timeslot, was able to maintain it’s leadership in the primetime race. Last Wednesday and Thursday, it duplicated it’s no. 1 position although it was beaten by 24 Oras last Tuesday. Nevertheless, maintaning above 30% rating is quite a feat.

In the battle of primetime game shows, Family Feud is keeping a distance from Kapamilya Deal or No Deal and has improved its ratings this week. In the daytime race, however, ABS-CBN’s Pilipinas Game KNB? is the winner.
