Denice Aniag, an 18-year old nursing student and an avid viewer of Katorse, expressed how she enjoys the variety of situations that the show offers. “Actually, hindi lang limited ang Katorse sa issue ng teen pregnancy. The Erich Gonzales starrer even bested ABS-CBN’s main primetime series May Bukas Pa last Wednesday night by virtue of its 34.2% which is remarkable for a pre-primetime program.

TV Patrol World, on the other hand, still ruled the primetime race nationwide. In the daytime race, Wowowee is the undisputed leader.

Last Tuesday night, Katorse garnered 30.5% in the TNS Nationwide TV survey to place 3rd in the primetime race while The Piolo Pascual-KC Concepcion starrer placed 4th with 29.5 percent.

The next night, Wednesday (October 7), Katorse climbed to no. 2 with 34.1% beating the top-rating “May Bukas Pa.” It returned to its original 3rd place spot last Thursday with Lovers in Paris consistent in 4th place.

TV Patrol continued its dominance in the primetime race while Wowowee dominated the daytime race last Tuesday and Wednesday and Kambal sa Uma captured the top spot last Thursday.

The pre-primetime series “Katorse” was able to beat its rival “All My Life” from September 15 to 17:

Sept. 15:
All My Life (GMA-7) 16.9%; Katorse (ABS-CBN) 19.2%;

Sept. 16:
All My Life (GMA-7) 18%; Katorse (ABS-CBN) 21%;

Sept. 17:
All My Life (GMA-7) 16.7%; Katorse (ABS-CBN) 17.7%;

In fact, Katorse is the only ABS-CBN primetime program to be able to defeat its rival show in Mega Manila consistently. Tayong Dalawa and Dahil May Isang Ikaw were able to beat their rival shows last Tuesday but were not able to maintain the feat. Stairway to Heaven and Rosalinda emerged victorious the next night, Wednesday, and the following night, Thursday.

So it is now safe to say that Mega Manila is still GMA’s turf except in the pre-primetime slot where ABS-CBN rules courtesy of “Katorse”. “All My Life”, on the other hand, ended last Friday night and will be replaced by the Jennylyn Mercado-Mark Herras starrer, Ikaw Na Sana.

Another kapamilya teleserye, Dahil May Isang Ikaw, also premiered last Monday night and it registered a much higher 28.8% which is good for fifth place. Among kapamilya programs, the Jericho-Kristine starrer is second to Tayong Dalawa.

The live telecast of Miss Universe 2009 garnered enough viewers to put it in no. 5 position in the daytime race. Kapuso programs still dominated the Top 4 position with Eat Bulaga as the top-rater followed by the 3 kapuso soap operas.
