If ever the single “The One that Got Away” top the Billboard Hot 100, Katy Perry will become the only artist in history to have 6 no. 1 singles from one album, surpassing Michael Jackson’s record of 5.

Music Video Sypnosis:

The video was released on November 11, 2011. It begins with an old Katy Perry at a modernistic home with what is presumably her husband. She makes herself a cup of coffee and thinks about the past when the song begins. As she sits on her bed it cuts back to a younger Perry with her boyfriend, an artist (played by Diego Luna). They paint portraits of each other, dress up and take photos of each other, and dance at a party. He gives her a tattoo with hot ink. These are inter-cut with shots of the older Perry looking sad on a bed at night, having trouble going to sleep. In the flashback, the younger Perry and her boyfriend are seen fighting, culminating in her splashing red paint on one of his paintings because of his anger towards her when she couldn’t paint something first. He leaves angrily and drives way. The younger Perry appears to the older Perry in her bedroom: younger Perry sitting next to older Perry, both singing the lyrics. The younger Perry is also shown in the older Perry’s closet crying and singing the lyrics. The painter is seen driving; he opens the mirror up above him and finds Katy’s veil she wore when partying. Unexpected, he tries to avoid running over large rocks in the road, and crashes off a cliff. The older Perry is seen standing at the cliffside where the car crashed, while Johnny Cash’s cover of You Are My Sunshine plays in the background. The ghost of the painter appears and holds hands with older Perry, revealing matching wing tattoos on their hands. However, in the next shot, the song in the background is cut when the ghost is gone, and the older Perry slowly walks away from the cliffside.

Katy Perry‘s fifth single “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) from her album “Teenage Dream” tops the Hot 100 of the Billboard Chart and at the same time makes history.

In the last 53 years, it was only Perry and the late Michael Jackson achieved the feat of having 5 songs from a single album reach to be no. 1 on Billboard. The King of Pop had five songs from the album “Bad” go to the top of the charts in 1987 and 1988.

Perry’s no. 1 hits from “Teenage Dream,” which was released nearly a year ago and has sold 1.7 million copies are (in order of release) “California Gurls,” featuring Snoop Dogg, “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”

It’s really fun – it’s basically my voice with some rocks thrown in it, like I had too many cups of coffee.”

Katy says that making the transition from world-famous recording artist to voiceover actress was an organic next step. “I use my voice every single day,” she explains, “and I feel very cartoony at times, just in the way I present myself. So It was a natural progression – something natural for me to do.”

Katy Perry’s 2008 multi-platinum debut album “One Of The Boys” generated four massive hit singles – “I Kissed A Girl,” “Hot N Cold,” “Thinking of You,” and “Waking Up In Vegas” – while her 2010 follow-up “Teenage Dream” has already generated four #1 hit singles – “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” and “E.T.” – a feat so rare that it’s only the ninth album in the 52-year history of the Billboard charts to achieve it. “Teenage Dream” also became the first album to have a single in the Top 10 for an entire year!

“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” is Katy Perry‘s fifth single from her third studio album “Teenage Dream.”

In the music video, Perry plays Kathy Beth Terry, a nerdy teenager with braces, headgear and oversized glasses who’s just woken up the morning after a house party, surrounding by passed-out partygoers. A male guest, Aaron Christopherson, (played by Glee star Darren Criss) opens the door to her bedroom and congratulates her on having the best party ever. Puzzled as to what happened, she goes online, only to find pictures of herself in various compromising positions. The video then goes into a flashback of the events that occurred the night before. While playing Sudoku puzzles, Kathy hears loud music from the house next door, and goes over to stop the commotion. She is greeted by the hostess (played by Rebecca Black), who invites her to come in. Another nerdy high schooler, Everett McDonald, played by Glee star Kevin McHale, ogles her from afar and fantasizes about being with her. Kathy, however is more interested in Steve Johnson, the attractive football player attending the party, who turns her down because of her appearance. To cheer her up, Black gives Kathy a makeover, ripping off her headgear with pliers, dressing her in tight-fitting neon clothes and teasing her hair out. Steve becomes enamored with her, and everyone starts dancing. Jazz musician Kenny G plays a saxophone solo on the roof while 90s heartthrobs Hanson act as the house band. The entire party ends up moving to Kathy’s house, where Everett punches Steve for fondling Kathy. At the end of the night, Kathy finally passes out next to Steve. The video shifts to present day, where she looks on with regret, but is also ecstatic to have a naked Steve passed out in her bed. During the video’s end credits, there is a follow-up scene, where Everett makes breakfast in bed for Kathy. Also, there are additional scenes from the party and bloopers. Former teen idols Corey Feldman and Debbie Gibson make a cameo as Kathy’s parents Kirk and Tiffany Terry.

“I’m so glad that someone wrote a song about Friday — finally!” the pop star told the crowd.

Katy Perry wrote an anti-bullying song “Firework” but don’t you think she’s kind of bullying Rebecca Black upon singing “Friday”? Don’t you think her take on “Friday” is some sort of mocking?
