500 lucky pinoy fans of Kim Hyun Joong were able to meet their Korean idol face to face and give him a “hi-five” or in tagalog, an “apir!”

The unique and fun event was the first of its kind in the country giving a chance to as much as 500 fans to be able to touch their idol.

Aside from the Philippines, Kim Hyun Joong is also holding Hi Five Touch Events in other Asian countries as well. It’s his way of giving his fans a warm smile and personal thank you for buying his album and watching his shows.

With the release of his first solo mini album “Break Down”, he will be at the Trinoma Mall tonight, August 25, for the Hi-Five Touch Event.

Kim Hyun Joong debuts with the album “Break down” as he displays a different persona compared to his SS501 days. Hyun Joong has taken the most generic route out of all the SS501 member’s solo activities – typical synthesizer instrumentals, heavy beats and catchy choruses as well as bubblegum pop.

Kim Hyun Joon‘s completed his tour both in the U.S. and South Korea and later on, hit back the studio and recorded this mini-album with album producer Steven Lee.

Together with Japanese group, V6 and KAT-TUN’s producer Steven Lee, Kim Hyun Joong involved himself in the album-making just to reveal more of talent as a solo artist. “Break Down” boasts a total of six songs, with one instrumental version of the title track.

The title track “Break Down” is a powerful synthesized song with an urban style which features a stylish rapping of South Korea’s Double K; and Ken Lewis (Eminem, Kanye West, Usher and John Legend) as the single’s producer. The music video for “Break Down” was simultaneously released with the single’s digital release.

Marking his comeback to the music scene, the album also boasts the previously released single “Please” in which Kim Hyun Joong portrayed a different and mature image in his music video. Other album highlights include “Intro (Let Me Go)”where Kim Hyun Joong opens with a magnificent pipe organ melody. Also in the album is the song “Kiss Kiss”another pop/ dance song but accompanied with an acoustic guitar and dance-y beat “Yes I Will.”

Aside from the Philippines, “Break Down” will also be released in South Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hongkong, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Kim Hyun Joong’s solo mini-album “Break Down” is now available at all record bars nationwide exclusively distributed by PolyEast Records in cooperation with KeyEast Entertainment and CJ E&M Korea.

Kim Hyun Joong is the leader of popular boyband SS501 and a prominent style icon in Korea. He has won awards and have gained his popularity among the South East Asian countires for his role as Ji Hoo in the 2009 hit drama series Boys Over Flowers over ABS-CBN. He is now known worldwide as Baek Seung Jo/Gelo in the hit series drama Playful Kiss which is now being aired by GMA-7.

SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong, who is also well-known in Asia as “Ji Hu” in the hit Korean series “Boys Over Flowers,” kicked off the promotions for his debut solo album, “Break Down.” Carrying the album is the single “Please” and the Korean heartthrob unleashed the highly-budgeted music video for the song featuring his new look.

Kim Hyun Joong was joined by actress Kim Min Seo (Bad Guy, Baby-Faced Beauty) as his special love interest.

The 25-episode Korean adaptation is said to be equivalent to the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden and the Japanese series Hana Yori Dango.

Aside from Korea, the filming locations of the said tv series includes Macau, Las Vegas and New Caledonia in the US.

The cast of Boys Over Flowers are Koo Hye-sun as Geum Gan Di, Lee Min-ho as Gu Dyun Pyo, Kim Hyun-joong as Yun Ji Hoo, Kim Bum as So Yi Jeong and Kim Joon as Song Woo Bin. Also starring are Han Chae-young, Kim Hyun-joo and Kim So Eun.

Synopsis: Geum Jan Di is from a poor family and is admitted to the prestigious Shinhwa High School after stopping a student who was being bullied from committing suicide. Shinhwa High was established by Shinhwa Group, the biggest conglomerate in Korea, and is attended by the scions of the wealthiest families. At Shinhwa, she finds that a group of rich and good-looking boys called “F4″ (“Flower 4″ or “Flamboyant 4″) who enjoys tremendous popularity. The F4, however, thinks nothing of humiliating others, and often issues a “red card”. Whoever finds the dreaded red card in his or her locker subsequently becomes the target of bullying by the entire student body. Jan Di detests all this circus, but receives a red card herself and is bullied, after she stands up for one of her fellow classmates. Eventually, she begins to have feelings for one of the F4, Ji-hoo, but also discovers that the leader of the group, Jun Pyo, is falling for her, too. A love triangle thus develops among Jun Pyo, Jan Di and Ji Hoo.
