Korina Sanchez, in an interview with “The Buzz” last Sunday, said the rumor started to spread on Twitter after Senator Panfilo Lacson asked Mar Roxas, during his confirmation as Transportation and Communications Secretary, if his wife is already pregnant. Lacson subsequently told Roxas not to answer his question.

After the said incident, some netizens posted on Twitter the speculations about Korina’s pregnancy.

“Mabuti pa ang Twitter buntis ako, pero sa totoong buhay hindi pa. Hindi pa talaga. (But) sinabi ko naman sa inyo, project iyan. We’re consulting doctors so malay mo talagang this year na or next year,” she clarified.

Anchored by award-winning broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez, the “Harapan: Divorce Bill, Ipasa o Ibasura?” debate aims to educate and inform the public on yet another issue that has significance and relevance to every Filipino.

The proposed law, which was authored by Gabriela Party List Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan, legalizes divorce as a course for individuals who want out of their marriages.

The Philippines, known for its high-regard for the family as an institution, is the only country in the world that bans divorce.

ABS-CBN held a ‘Harapan’ debate on the Reproductive Health bill last May 8 that became a trending topic on Twitter and stirred up discussion among the people. Starting last Monday (Nov 8), Failon, Sanchez and De Castro did what they do best, and that is to deliver news and information that matter to every Filipino.

“TV Patrol’s” original anchor De Castro, more popularly known as “Kabayan,” is also back as the reliable “Boses ng Masa.” With his well-known modulated voice, Kabayan also made viewers wax nostalgic when he uttered his trademark line “Magandang gabi, bayan.”

The anchors also fielded in questions to reporters that added context and depth to reports.

ABS-CBN Head for News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes said it wasn’t hard to convince De Castro and Sanchez to come back to “TV Patrol.”

“They are just returning to their first love. This is their true calling,” said Reyes, who is also a true-blue Kapamilya as she began her career in ABS-CBN as a production assistant in 1986. Reyes rose from the ranks to work as a reporter, a news producer, and eventually the chief of ABS-CBN North America Bureau for eight years.

Reyes added their comeback will further strengthen “TV Patrol,” which continues to be the most watched newscast and the number one program in its timeslot nationwide. In the nationwide TV ratings data from Kantar Media for Monday (Nov 8), “TV Patrol” got a rating of 28 percent compared to 19.5 of “24 Oras”, while “Willing-Willie” registered only 14.5%. “TV Patrol” also lorded over the TV5 show in Mega Manila that day with a rating of 20.9% versus 19.4% of “Willing-Willie,” and in Metro Manila, where it got 22.2% compared to 19.3% of the game show.

ABS-CBN also turned out as the most credible news source according to a study by Pulse Asia. 72% of the Filipinos believe ABS-CBN gave the most credible TV news coverage of the May 2010 elections, higher than GMA, which had only 63% believing in its credibility, and TV 5’s 32%.

SWS made a survey on the net trust ratings of selected personalities for 2009 and ABS-CBN’s lead journalist Korina Sanchez topped the list.

The 2009 list of Most and Least Trusted Personalities was based on SWS quarterly surveys conducted every February, June, September and December.

Leading the Most Trusted category are kapamilya personalities led by Korina Sanchez with an average rating of +60% (very good). Placing second to Korina is her radio partner Ted Failon who got +40% (good). Coming in third place is most powerful celebrity Willie Revillame who received +20% (moderate).

Whistle-blower Jun Lozada also got a moderate net trust rating slightly below Willie Revillame. In the middle of list are Major Ferdinand Marcelino, Sec. Reynato Puno, national artist awardee Carlo J. Caparas and presidentiable Gibo Teodoro. All of them received “neutral” trust ratings.

If there are most trusted personalities, there are also the least trusted personalities for 2009. Celebrity cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho is the least trusted of them all with -60% which is classified as “very bad.” Joining Kho in the shame list are Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn “Joc-joc” Bolante, and First Gentleman Jose Miguel ‘Mike’ Arroyo who also landed in the very bad category.

Last week, Korina made a special report about the actual contents of various Gluthathione products and was aired via The World Tonight, ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel), Bandila and TV Patrol. With the help of PIPAC and Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD), the report exposed the real contents of L-gluthathione, the active ingredient of these whitening pills. About ten products were tested and only one is telling the truth. That instead of 500 mg. of L-Gluthathione, the report exposed that most of them actually contain less than 10% of what these products claim on their labels.

Korina emphasized that two products, namely Vaniderm and Lucida DS, have only 5.4 mg. and 4.4 mg. content of gluthathione respectively.

Lucida DS is being endorsed by Gabby Concepcion and Sen. Loren Legarda while Vaniderm, on the other hand, is being endorsed by Toni Gonzaga and Maui Taylor.

Ms. Galindez, the senior vice-president of United Shelter Health Products and distributor of Lucida DS in the Philippines, said that they plan to file a libel case against the ABS-CBN journalist this week.

The case will be filed in various places like Ilo-ilo, GenSan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Iligan, Koronadal, Zamboanga and even in the US, Malaysia and Dubai where the product are also distributed.
