23-year-old Carla Abellana is being groomed by GMA-7 as their next big star via the Philippine remake of the hit Mexican telenovela “Rosalinda.” This is Carla’s very first tv role in a primetime series, and a starring role at that.

The first adapted Mexican telenovela on Philippine television was MariMar and it launched Marian Rivera to super stardom. Marian became the hottest female property of the kapuso network as she had a back-to-back tv series that topped the primetime tv ratings nationwide.

Marian and Carla have so much in common. While the latter is yet to prove her worth, people are expecting that she will shine bright as her mother studio has invested so much for her.

Mother Lily Monteverde, for one, has an eye for potential superstars. She acquired multi-movie deal before with Angel Locsin. And after that, it’s Marian Rivera. Now, the Regal Films matriarch offered a movie deal with Carla Abellana and her co-star is no other than Marian Rivera.

Carla and Marian is starring in the film “The Other Man” which is set to release later this year.

Last Tuesday, Marimar got its highest rating of 22.1% trumping the very competitive GMA soap operas in the afternoon.

In the primetime race, Dyesebel is still undisputed no. 1 tv program overall in months!

“Basta surprise po yan” – this is Marian’s answer to numerous questions being thrown at her regarding her highly-anticipated pictorial for FHM magazine.

Marian is best known for her two top-rating tv roles, Marimar and Dyesebel. Both roles demanded her to go sexy on the boobtube. Remeber on one episode of Marimar when Marian had a bikini showdown with Katrina Halili? And now in Dyesebel, she’s topless. So the public, specially her fans, are very excited with the level of “sexiness” that she will do for her very first pictorial for FHM.

Marian Rivera has done numerous covers in various fashion magazines like Preview, Metro, Manual, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, among others. The FHM photoshoot is very special because the leading men’s magazine has been courting her way back from her Pre-Marimar days. Furthermore, she’s the first and only star who topped FHM’s “Sexiest Women in the World” and she’s not even a covergirl of the magazine.

Marian is dedicating her FHM pictorial to all of her fans who voted for her to win.

“Lagi kong sinasabi kahit anong mangyari malaki ang pasasalamat ko mga bumoto sa akin. Sila ang number one para sa akin,” she said.

She is celebrating her 24th birthday this August and if she will indeed cover for FHM next month, it will be her gift for her fans.

The wedding ceremony was shot in San Agustin Church, Intramuros, Manila, last March 10, 2008. It will be officiated by Fr. Porres (played by Buboy Garovillo of The APO Hiking Society).

The wedding processional will begin with Renato Santibañez (Richard Gomez), Dingdong’s father in the series.

Dingdong’s groomsmen will be played by Marky Lopez and Dino Guevarra. Marian’s bridesmaid, on the other hand, are Starstruck avengers LJ Reyes and Arci Muñoz. Both LJ and Arci are not cast members of Marimar.

Also in the wedding are Manilyn Reyes (Corazon) and Nadine Samonte (Inocencia).

The Primary wedding sponsors are German Moreno and MTRCB Chairman Consoliza Laguardia, Mother Lily Monteverde and Douglas Quijano, and Ms. Wilma Galvante and Ricky Reyes.

Secondary sponsors are Ms. Annette Gozon-Abrogar and Victor Aliwalas, Sheena Halili and Arthur Solinap, Rufa Mae Quinto and Tim Yap.

Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez, together with boyfriend Ogie Alcasid will sing the theme song “Mahal Kita” which is written by Danny Tan.

Will the star-studded finale finally reach the elusive 50% rating for Marimar? We will see.
