When asked if he has any future plans of entering politics in real life, Tonton has a ready answer to share. “I don’t intend to run for any position in the government. I am contented with where I am now,” Tonton said. “Para sa akin mas okay ata ang buhay artista compared sa isang pulitiko,” he opined.
In the next episodes of May Bukas Pa, Mario (Tonton) declares that he is ready to go up against Enrique (Albert Martinez) as he runs for mayor. Upon learning, Enrique insults Mario.
