The second episode of “Claudine” dropped to 14.6% compared to its pilot’s 16.6% according to AGB Nielsen’s Mega Manila TV ratings. The 18-year-old Maalaala Mo Kaya was too strong for the new drama anthology for registering 21.6% The MMK episode last Saturday is entitled “Shell” and it starred Zsa Zsa Padilla, Tonton Gutierrez, Tanya Gomez and Manuel Chua. The “Claudine” episode last Saturday, on the other hand, starred Claudine Barretto with TJ Trinidad and Wendell Ramos in a triangle love story.

The grand finals of TV5′s “Talentadong Pinoy” topped the primetime race last Saturday beating erstwhile leader Pilipinas Got Talent.

On the other hand, Kapuso Movie Festival featuring the horror film “Sundo” and the replay of Diva trumped ASAP XV.

The only special program which failed to beat its competition was the telecast of Bb. Pilipinas 2010. The first part of the pageant did not beat ABS-CBN’s “Melason in Love.”

For last Monday’s battle, Panday Kids snatched the no. 1 slot from Agua Bendita which dropped to third place. Placing second was The Last Prince. Will this be a one-night thing or will it continue in the coming nights?

Since it’s a non-working holiday, Mega Manila televiewers watched the 8-hour funeral in their homes as reported by AGB Nielsen.

GMA’s “Salamat at Paalam Cory” topped the daytime race with 29.9 percent. In close second was ABS-CBN’s “Salamat, President Cory: A People’s Farewell” which garnered 29.6 percent.

In the primetime block, ABS-CBN dominated the coverage with TV Patrol World getting 37% at no. 1 followed by “Salamat, President Cory: A People’s Farewell” with 31.7% at no. 2.

Regular programming resumed on Thursday with GMA dominating the Top 5 in the daytime race with Eat Bulaga! at no. 1 followed by “Kung AAgawin Mo Ang Lahat sa Akin”, “Daisy Siete”, “Hole in the Wall” and “Ngayon at Kailanman” respectively.

However, ABS-CBN dominated the primetime race. May Bukas Pa is back at no. 1 with 34.9 percent followed by Tayong Dalawa. Completing the Top 4 for ABS-CBN are TV Patrol World and Only You.

Rosalinda‘s pilot episode registered a dismal 26.3% in Mega Manila, the 4th lowest GMA pilot of a primetime series in 5 years. Looking at the brighter side, the Carla Abellana starrer premiered better than All About Eve‘s 26.1% last March 9, 2009, Atlantika‘s 25.5% last October 3, 2006 and Adik Sa ‘Yo‘s 25.4% last June 8, 2009 (Please take note that All My Life is not considered a primetime series).

To add insult to injury, Rosalinda was beaten by it’s rival shows Only You which garnered 27.5% and Tayong Dalawa which registered 31.7%. 24 Oras ruled the primetime race with 32.3% followed by Tayong Dalawa.

Zorro is the no. 1 program the whole weekdays last week except in June 10 when the kapamilya teleserye May Bukas Pa stole the top spot. Two more kapamilya programs placed in the Top 5 with Tayong Dalawa at no. 2 and Only You at no. 4.

On June 11, the tally went back to its usual trending as Zorro topped the ranking. However, two kapamilya programs were tied in second place and this time, it’s Only You and Tayong Dalawa.

On June 12, Totoy Bato returns to the 2nd spot followed by 24 Oras in the 3rd spot. Zorro is still no. 1 while Adik Sa ‘Yo managed to placed 4th overall.

The no. 1 program last Saturday was Kapuso Mo Jessica Sojo while the no. 1 on Sunday was Kap’s Amazing Stories. TV5′s Talentadong Pinoy is the 5th most watched program last Saturday while Midnight DJ placed 8th and tied with ABS-CBN’s XXX.

Last May 23 (Saturday), all three shows of Joey de Leon – Eat Bulaga, Joey’s Quirky World and Star Talk topped the daytime race respectively. In the primetime race, Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho captured the no. 1 spot followed by Imbestigador.

It’s interesting to note that 2 shows from TV5 entered the primetime top 10 last Saturday. Ryan Agoncillo‘s Talentadong Pinoy is on no. 8 while Midnight DJ managed to place 10th overall.

The highly anticipated return of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? as hosted by Vic Sotto failed to penetrate the Top 10.

Mast Sunday (May 24), ASAP’09 trumped GMA’s SOP and captured the no. 1 slot. In the primetime race, Mel and Joey maintained its leadership. Following at no. 2 is All Star K.

Showbiz News Ngayon reported Wednesday night that ABS-CBN finally hits no. 1 in Mega Manila last May 19, 2009.

According to Taylor Nelson Sofres, ABS-CBN received an audience share of 40% in Mega Manila against GMA’s 39%. It’s been a while since ABS-CBN ruled the Mega Manila TV ratings and to date, the figures are telling that the kapamilya network is about to reclaim the leadership.

In Metro Manila, ABS-CBN received an audience share of 43% against GMA’s 34% on the same date.

And nationwide, ABS-CBN garnered an audience share of 50% against GMA’s 31%. 19% belongs to all other networks combined.

On the said date, 100% of ABS-CBN programs trumped all its rival GMA shows including Showbiz News Ngayon which is always beaten by the koreanovela Fated to Love You.

This feat could be attributed to the drama series “Tayong Dalawa” starring Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca and Kim Chiu for topping the primetime race in Mega Manila. Another strategy made by ABS-CBN that worked was the timeslot swapping of Pinoy Bingo Night and Boys Over Flowers.

As Zorro maintained its lead in the primetime race, Totoy Bato settled for 3rd place. “Tadyang”, on the other hand, is gaining more viewership now that it’s down to its final week.

The week also ended with Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? topping the daytime race followed by another GMA soap Paano Ba Ang Mangarap? ABS-CBN’s noontime show Wowowee settled for 3rd place.

Last Saturday, Eat Bulaga! ruled the daytime race while Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho topped the primetime race. TV5′s Talentadong Pinoy was able to maintain its good rating to place 9th.

Last Sunday, SOP captured the top spot in the daytime race followed by Joey’s Quirky World and Kay Susan Tayo. The primetime race, on the other hand, is ruled by Mel and Joey.

On April 27, Totoy Bato reclaimed it’s top position in the primetime race beating Zorro which settled in 2nd place. The first episode of ABS-CBN’s newest series “Only You” starring Angel Locsin was only able to place 10th overall with a 26.5 pilot rating.

Sugat ng Kahapon received the highest rating during this period with 28.7% last Black Saturday.

“Sugat” is an APT Lenten presentation starring Marian Rivera and Dennis Trillo which was shown last Saturday. Marian played the role of a battered wife while Dennis’ character is a mentally retarded.

Regular programming resumed last Sunday.

‘Sugat ng Kahapon’ Tops Holy Week Viewing in Mega Manila originally appeared on Starmometer on April 15, 2009.

But all the days except Sunday are still GMA’s territory as far as Mega Manila is concerned. In fact, in the daytime race last Thursday, 8 out of the Top 10 shows are from GMA with Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? getting consistent ratings and giving primetime programs a run for their money.

Totoy Bato, on the other hand, is still the no. 1 program in Mega Manila on Thursday, Friday and Monday followed by Zorro.

Last Saturday is still GMA’s domain as Eat Bulaga! leading the daytime race and Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho ruling the primetime race. New player Talentadong Pinoy still captured the no. 9 slot posting a threat to other ABS-CBN and GMA programs.

It’s also interesting to note that the Eraserheads Final Set Concert which was aired late Sunday night on GMA captured the third spot with 21.1 percent. Shows that are usually aired in the said timeslot seldom reach the 10% bracket but the Eraserheads Concert managed to surpass even the 20% bracket.
