Sandra Seifert disappointed 14 other finalists for the title which include misses Brazil, Canada, Cuba, France, Colombia, Hungary, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Spain, Switzerland, Turks & Caicos, USA and Venezuela.

Sandra Inez Seifert was the favorite of pageant enthusiasts to win the 2009 Binibining Pilipinas – Universe crown because they see a big potential in her that could end the 10-year Philippine drought in the prestigious Miss Universe pageant. Unfortunately, two days before the Binibining Pilipinas 2009 coronation night, Seifert was disqualified by the organizers (led by Stella Marquez Araneta) on ground that she was discovered to have posed for FHM magazine two years ago.

Although crushed by the incident, Seifert did not stop to fulfill her dream of becoming a beauty queen. She then joined Miss Philippines – Earth pageant. And just minutes ago, she was announced the winner at the 9th Miss Philippines coronation night at The Arena Entertainment and Recreational Center of the People, San Juan City besting 49 other contestants.

Disqualified Binibini Appears on Wowowee

Among the guest beauty queens in Wowowee last Saturday, Sandra Seifert is the only one who hasn’t been crowned yet because she was disqualified by the organizers of Bb. Pilipinas a couple of weeks ago. But she did not quit in fulfilling her dream to become a queen as she joined Miss Philippines 2009.

Sandra showcased her wit and charm as the Wowowee host Willie Revillame interviewed her. In the talent portion, she introduced her two younger brothers, one is a student and the other is an international model, and they joined her with her dance number to the delight of the crowd.

Precious Meets Willie

The last guest to participate in the game was Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman. Precious was a former host of Wowowee who got booted off the noontime program for bringing her boyfriend in the noontime show’s special tour in Hawaii. According to reports, Willie was the deciding factor for the said ouster.

Last Saturday, Willie and Precious exchanged hard-hitting wise cracks but kissed and made up in the end.

25-year-old model Seifert was disqualified from Bb. Pilipinas 2 days before the coronation night because the management discovered that she has a sexy photo-spreads in FHM magazine last 2007.

“I really want to portray that i’ve grown up, that i could also be edgy and you know, we’re only gonna be slim once in our lives,” Seifert explains regarding the sexy pictorial.

“It’s not that it was a secret that it was meant to be hidden from them. The lesson for me is that in life although we live one day at a time, there are certain things that could have a consequence long term,” she added.

The management of Bb. Pilipinas, on the other hand, stood firm with their decision.

Lorraine Shuck, one of the organizers of the Miss Philippines and Miss Earth pageants, said there’s no reason why they won’t accept Sandra Seifert if she joins Miss Philippines 2009 as long as she pass all the criteria for the pageant.

Last year, ABS-CBN, the official broadcaster of Miss Universe in the Philippines reported that Asians and Latinas are vying for the crown for Miss Universe 2007. The top 5 last year were Korea, Brazil, Japan, USA and Venezuela.

This year, ABS-CBN reported that Asians and Latinas are once again the strongest candidates. Among the latinas, standing out are Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Panama and Brazil. Among Asian candidates, on the other hand, people should eye for Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Indonesia and of course, the Philippines.

The main objective of the beauty pageant is to develop the infrastructure of tourism in Suzhou, China, as well as strengthening the friendly and cultural ties between the participating countries from different corners of the world to Suzhou and also in support of the program of development of tourism in this city.
