Synopsis: A boy unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares. 14-year-old Darren was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. He hung out with his best friend, got decent grades and usually stayed out of trouble. But when he and his buddy stumble upon a traveling freak show, things begin to change inside Darren. That’s the exact moment when a vampire named Larten Crepsley turns him into something, well, bloodthirsty.

Directed by Paul Weitz, the film is coming to theaters on October 23, 2009.

The film was written by Eric Bress and directed by David R. Ellis, both of whom also worked on Final Destination 2. Ellis directed cult favorites Cellular and Snakes on a Plane. The movie was shot in HD 3-D. The film has opted to be pushed forward to a scheduled release on August 28, 2009 in both the U.S.A. and the UK. It is the first FD sequel to be distributed by Warner Bros. and is reported to have a budget of $43 million, considerably larger than its previous films because it was shot for 3-D (originally the idea for the third film in the series, but the idea was dropped then due to budgetary restrictions and concerns).

Warner Bros. released the following plot summary for the film:

On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O’Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave…escaping seconds before Nick’s frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they’ve cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one–in increasingly gruesome ways–Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination. The film marks the latest in the highly popular “Final Destination” series, and its first 3D installment, giving horror fans an especially visceral thrill ride.

Best Friends Forever (BFF) is the Mothers’ Day offering of Star Cinema starring the Megastar Sharon Cuneta and the Comedy Queen Ai Ai delas Alas.

Sharon and Ai Ai will be playing as best friends in this comedy film helmed by box-office director Wenn Deramas of Tanging Ina and Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat.

Included in the cast are John Estrada, Candy Pangilinan and Chokoleit.

Star Trek (2009) The Movie is directed by J. J. Abrams, written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and produced by Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk. Starring in the new film are Chris Pine (Blind Dating, Princess Diaries), Zachary Quinto (Heroes) and Eric Bana (Hulk).

It explores the backstories of James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto), before they unite aboard the USS Enterprise to combat Nero (Eric Bana), a Romulan from the future who threatens the United Federation of Planets. The film will be released in conventional theaters and some IMAX theaters on May 8, 2009, following a limited number of advanced screenings starting at 7pm the night before.

Development of the film began in 2005 when Paramount Pictures contacted Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman for ideas to revive the franchise. The creative team contrasted Orci and Lindelof, who consider themselves “Trekkies”, with casual fans like Abrams, who all aimed to create a film that would interest a general audience. They wanted to be faithful to Star Trek canon, but they also introduced elements of their favorite novels, modified continuity with the time travel storyline, and modernized the production design of the original show. Filming took place from November 2007 to April 2008 under intense secrecy. Midway through the shoot, Paramount chose to delay the release date from December 25, 2008 to May 8, 2009, believing the film could reach a wider audience.

The wolves are now complete. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Summit Entertainment has cast Native American actors Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Spencer is Lakota (Sioux), Pelletier is Cree-Metis, Meraz is Purepecha (Tarasco), Gordon is Hualapai and Houseman is Cree.

The five actors will join original cast member Taylor Lautner in portraying the wolf pack in New Moon, in which the pack defends humans against vampires. I guess Vanessa Hudgens didn’t win the female wolf’s role.

And of course, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will be back reprising their Twilight roles as Bella and Edward. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will be replaced by Chris Weitz (American Pie, About a Boy, The Golden Compass) in New Moon.

Twilight Saga: New Moon is set for a November 2009 release.

20th Century Fox’s Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel will star Zachary Levi (TV’s Chuck) as a cousin of Jason Lee’s character. The movie is set for a January 2010 release.

The plot of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel includes the rodent boys facing off against the Chipettes.

It is not yet confirmed, however, if our very own Charice will indeed become part of the comedy film or will just lend her voice. Before she flew to LA earlier this week, the young diva was very careful not to divulge too many details about her first Hollywood film.

The only clue that she gave was “Yung story niya umiikot sa tatlong animated characters.”

According to Ricky Lo, via his column in The Philippine Star, Charice was overheard speaking a strange voice after her show in Laguna. Is she practicing her role as a chipette (female chipmunk)?

In the series, the chipettes are siblings Brittany, Jeanette and Eleonor. It is also possible that Charice might portray the first chipmunk singer — Charlene The Chipette. Or better yet, why not call it Charice and the Chipmunks?

It will be the first 2D traditional animated film since 2004′s Home on the Range and the forty-ninth animated feature in the Disney animated features canon. It is being directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, directors of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, with songs and score composed by Randy Newman and with the voices of Anika Noni Rose (as Princess Tiana), Oprah Winfrey, Keith David, Jim Cummings, John Goodman, Jenifer Lewis, Bruno Campos, Michael-Leon Wooley and Peter Bartlett.

The film, which began production under the working title The Frog Princess, will be an American fairy tale, Broadway-style musical set in the French Quarter of New Orleans. A prince named Naveen from the land of Maldonia, is transformed into a frog by the evil scheming voodoo magician Dr. Facilier. The frog prince asks Tiana to break the spell by kissing him. However, the kiss doesn’t break the spell but rather makes Tiana a frog, as well. Together the two of them must reach the good voodoo priestess of the Bayou, Mama Odie, while befriending a trumpet playing alligator and a hopelessly romantic firefly along the way.

Walt Disney’s The Princess and the Frog is coming to theaters worlwide come Christmas day.
