The music video for “Yoü and I” was filmed in Springfield, Nebraska and was directed by Lady Gaga’s choreographer Laurieann Gibson.

The music video begins with Gaga, dressed in black clothing, sunglasses, bloody feet and seemingly bionic features, walking through a desert in Nebraska; having returned on foot after years of absence. Gaga goes to buy ice cream from an ice cream van, but she suddenly drops it as a toothless man grins at her with a doll in his hand. She begins to then have flashbacks to her time spent in Nebraska as scenes of Gaga having a wedding, being tortured by a man inside a barn and being inside a water tank are shown in quick succession. The song starts playing as the camera slowly zooms towards Gaga, who is standing bent forward as she begins singing. The video continually switches to scenes where Gaga, with little make up, a simple gray-colored hair style and a white dress, plays a piano in the middle of a cornfield, while her male alter ego, Jo Calderone sits on top of the piano, smoking and drinking a beer. As Calderone pulls up his sleeves, present day Gaga is shown still walking through the desert.

During the second verse, a muscular mad scientist, portrayed by actor Taylor Kinney, seemingly tortures Gaga, who is wearing a yellow dress with glasses made of barbwire, as another version of the singer with teal-colored hair does a dance routine with her backup dancers in a barn. As the chorus begins for the second time, Gaga is portrayed as Yuyi the Mermaid, with gills on her face and neck, as she lies in a tub filled with dirty water. It appears the scientist is attempting to change Yuyi to human form. At the end of the chorus, the camera zooms to a brunette Gaga inside a water tank while she sings “You and I!” in the desert scene and in the cornfield with Calderone. Interspersing scenes again show Gaga having her wedding, Yuyi in her tub, and Gaga seated on a chair with a conveyor belt. During May’s guitar solo, Gaga is seen dancing in the cornfield with other dancers dressed in the same white dress, as Yuyi and the scientist kiss. While singing the chorus for the final time, Gaga kisses Calderone in one sequence and runs across the field in another. As the video reaches its conclusion, the tortured Gaga is seen being slid down as the conveyor belt turns on. The video ends with Yuri and the scientist together in the bath tub, as a depiction of their dream wedding flash across, before a final shot of the barn as the screen turns black.

“Tonight” is also the title of Big Bang‘s mini album which was released last February 24.

In its first week, the album raked in an estimated 7 billion won (about P272.5 million) in sales and topped all music charts in Korea.

But the biggest feat by this album was when it charted on Billboard’s World Albums chart. “Tonight” was behind Celtic Thunder’s “Heritage” which is at No. 1 and Celtic Woman’s “Lullaby” at No. 2.

After two years, Sponge Cola is back with a new single entitled “Tambay,” which is included in their 5th studio album.

The said album is special to the band because they recorded it in their very own studio. Furthermore, they have a new drummer (Ted Mark Cruz) this time around, plus 90 percent of the songs were written mostly by frontman Yael Yuzon.

According to Yael, the album is tinged with elements of stadium rock, grunge, a few welcome surprises, and loads of drama.

Multi-platinum artist Kyla has released her highly-anticipated 8th studio album called “Private Affair” under Polyeast Records.

The album contains 12 songs that showcase Kyla‘s growth as a singer, songwriter and producer. She said she took the inspiration for Private Affair from the basics: old school R&B, jazz and pop.

The first single from the album is the song “Mahal Kita (Di Mo Pansin)”. Its sound is quite different from Kyla‘s previous ballads as it follows a vintage style in a unique throwback to the 1950′s and 1960′s with a music video directed by Treb Monteras.

“Todo Na” is written by Joven Tan, the carrier single for VOIZboys’ debut album “Fusion.” The music video is directed by Leo Abaya, photography by Shayne Sarte, Edited by Chuck Gutierrez, make up by Mameng, with the generous support of Jim Baltazar.

Featured in the music video is comedienne Kakai Bautista as the love interest of the boys.

VOIZboys is composed of singer/actors Nico Antonio, Guji Lorenzana, Jay-R Siaboc and Tom Rodriguez.

“Love Ya” is a single from SS501‘s mini album entitled “Destination.”

It could be the last music video of SS501 as the group’s leader, Kim Hyun Joong of the Boys Over Flowers fame, signed a contract with a different label. The four other members have yet to officially announce their future plans. It is unclear whether SS501 will stay as a group, or pursue individual careers.

The Fil-Brit lad is now a recording artist under Viva Records. His single “Pers Lab” has been released recently. The song is from his first studio album called “A Friend Like You”, which is now available in record bars. He has worked with international composer Christian De Walden for the said album .

“Pers Lab” is originally sung by the Hotdog band in the 70s. It is one of the pinoy classics revived by Charlie Green in his album. The music video features Nadine Lustre of the Pop Girls.

Christian Bautista Goes Shirtless on His New Music Video ‘Afraid for Love to Fade’ originally appeared on Starmometer on June 29, 2010.

Co-written and produced by RedOne, it is composed as a mid-tempo Europop song with an uplifting melody, where Gaga sings in a non-English accent about bidding farewell to her lovers. It was inspired by Gaga’s “Fear of Sex Monster”. Critics noted it to be heavily influenced by ABBA and Ace of Base, and predominantly gave positive reviews for it.

The music video begins showing Charice in some High School looking for her name at the Callback list from a Glee Club audition or something. She’s a little disappointed not seeing her name on the list.

Charice then takes the mic and sings in a huge empty theater her song “Pyramid”. Her featured guest, Iyaz, also makes a cameo appearance, sitting as the only audience when the YouTube singing sensation belts out the tune.

Bottomline: The music video is simple and low-budgeted but I like the concept which tackles humble beginnings. Forget the expensive special effects and glossy cinematography that we usually look for in a music video. Charice’s powerful vocals are enough to compel America and the world to buy her upcoming international album.

In our previous post, we boldly declared that XLR8 will give SS501, Super Junior, Big Bang and other Korean boybands a run for their money. What prompted us to make such strong statement was based solely in their vocals. Back then we only heard their debut single “You’re So Hot” and that was it.

Last Saturday, XLR8′s “You’re So Hot” music video debuted on MYX Premier. Shot at Lazer Xtreme in Manila, we’ve seen the 8 boys namely Francis Ramos, Carlo Lazerna, Hideaki Torio, Caleb Santos, Arkin Del Rosario, Melmar Magno, Meljohn Magno and Adrian Muhlach showcased their talents. Although they looked too young compared to other Korean boybands, their vocals were better naman. And I must say, their voices are as good as their looks. They are a complete package and they indeed have the potential to revive Pinoy pop!

However, there’s one thing they need to improve in the music video – the dance step. It lacks intensity. They are not hitting the beat as hard as what we’ve seen in their rehearsals (as seen in their dance teaser video). Maybe it’s because of the limited space inside Lazer Extreme Manila where the video was shot.

Overall, pasado naman ang concept ng music video. It has all the ingredients to be sensational. If they can improve the dance routine then we may see the “swagger” that we are looking for.
