Charice appeared on Oprah minutes ago to officially launch her first self-titled international debut album. Queen of Talk Oprah Winfrey reminisced from two years ago when they saw Charice on YouTube and eventually invited her to perform live on her show. She narrated the journey of the young pinay singing sensation from years ago when she was literally singing for her supper to the launching of her international album today.

Her mentor, legendary songwriter and producer David Foster, became emotional when Oprah asked him what’s the best advice he gave to Charice.

“…Charice is like a laser beam and she looks to me for guidance. You tell her once and she gets it. But probably the most extra-ordinary thing that happened between Charice and I is today i got a letter from her asking me to be her Godfather,” he said.

Charice also revealed to Oprah that on Mother’s Day, she gave her mom a key to their brand new house in Tagaytay.

Afterwards, Charice performed her single “Pyramid” live with Iyaz and David Foster on the piano.

Charice also performed her “life song” entitled “In This Song” which is included in her international album. She dedicated the performance to Oprah.

Justin Bieber also graced the episode and Oprah called him the “heartthrob of the decade.”

Both Bieber and Charice signed a pledge to encourage young people not to text while driving.

Charice Launches 1st International Album on Oprah originally appeared on Starmometer on May 12, 2010.

The new series will be called “Oprah’s Next Chapter” and will take Oprah to India, China and elsewhere. Scheduling and details for the new prime-time series have not been finalized, a network spokeswoman said, but the show likely will air two to three times a week and debut in late 2011. Winfrey will interview a range of people from celebrities to politicians to newsmakers in other countries.

The show was one of numerous new series announced by OWN, the Los Angeles-based cable TV venture she formed with Discovery Communications Inc. Other shows announced Thursday for OWN include:

“Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind,” on which big-name talents take viewers inside their creative process, offering an opportunity to see how they bring their art to life. Included on the roster are Academy Award-winning director James Cameron, Grammy Award-winning musician Lady Gaga and photographer Annie Leibovitz.

“Your Own Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star,” produced with reality TV giant Mark Burnett, will mount a nationwide search to discover the next big TV personality.

“Gayle King Live!” brings to TV the morning radio show of Oprah’s best friend.

“Why Not? With Shania Twain” is a reality show chronicling the trials and triumphs of the top-selling country music star.

These new series join a slate of previously announced shows including:

“Behind the Scenes: The Oprah Show Final Season,” a “docuseries” that takes viewers behind the scenes of the final season of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

“Breaking Down the Bars,” billed as a prison show whose women inmates have a shot at rehabilitation and atonement.

“Enough Already” sends home-organization guru Peter Walsh on a quest to help people declutter their lives.

“In the Bedroom With Dr. Laura Berman” aims to help couples improve their relationships and sex lives.

“Inside With Lisa Ling” brings viewers reports on unexpected people from far-flung locations.

“Kidnapped by the Kids” sets the stage for parents caught up in a world disconnected by technology and hectic lifestyles to get a wake-up call when their kids take drastic steps to reclaim Mom and Dad.

“The Miracle Detectives” sets a believer and a skeptic on the trail of amazing events that couldn’t possibly have happened — or could they?

“Oprah Presents: Master Class” features prominent personalities hand-picked by Oprah (including Bono, Simon Cowell, Lorne Michaels and Condoleezza Rice) who share their stories, insights and lives.

“The Swell Life” takes a look inside the family of former competitive surfer Izzy Paskowitz, his wife Danielle and their three children (one of whom is autistic), as well as their surf-school business.

“Searching” puts search specialist and genealogist Pam Slaton on the trail of long-lost friends and family members.

The 24-hour network is set to be seen in 70 million homes and will start in January 2011.

Charice first appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show last May 12, 2008 in an episode entitled the “World’s Smartest Kids”, in which she performed Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing. It was through the recommendation of Oprah Winfrey that music producer David Foster took Charice under his wing.

Charice made a second appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show on the September 9 “Dreams Come True” episode, in which Oprah referred to her as “The Most Talented Girl in the World.” She sang Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” with David Foster on piano, then Oprah went on to surprise her with an appearance by Celine Dion via satellite, who invited her to sing a special duet at New York City’s Madison Square Garden as part of Dion’s Taking Chances Tour (which was critically-acclaimed by the way).

After almost 2 years, Charice is slated to return to the Oprah Winfrey Show on May 11, 2010, to release her international debut album. The pre-order page on Oprah.com will be changed to “now on sale” and Charice’s campaign for Billboard 200 will also begin on this date.

Prior to the launch of her album, the official music video of Charice‘s carrier single “Pyramid” will be released on Oprah.com on Monday, April 12, 2010. This is the world premiere of her music video with Iyaz and it’s also the date when Charice’s campaign to top the Billboard singles chart will finally take off. The music video will also begin airing on MTV, Channel V and other music channels around the world.

The making of Pyramid music video will also be featured on Oprah.com on April 26. And beginning April 27 until Charice appears on the Oprah Winfrey Show on May 11, a track from her album will be streamed online one by one.

The amazing comeback story of Journey and how they discovered our very own Arnel Pineda half-way around the world were featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show recently.

Arnel Pineda and the rest of the members of the rock band “Journey” graced the Oprah Winfrey Show to promote their latest album, “Revelation” and the new “Journey in Manila DVD.” But Oprah is interested to know how they discovered their new frontmant which came from thousand of miles away.

Journey’s guitarist Neal Schon narrates that he found this video in YouTube featuring Arnel performing at the Hard Rock Cafe in Manila. Arnel was singing the Journey song “Faithfully” and he could not believe the amazing vocal prowess of the Filipino singer.

Neal contacted his co-members Jonathan Cain (keyboard), Deen Castronovo (drums) and Ross Valory (bass) who were equally impressed with Arnel. He told them: “The guy got great pipes, does he speak English?”

Valory said he had GS or “goosebumps surplus” when he first heard Arnel sing.

Castronovo said: “It was frightening just to hear that voice come out from that little guy. We couldn’t believe it. It’s just so strong. And the best part about it was just how humble the man was, how humble human being, beautiful heart.”

Oprah describes the discovery of Arnel “a divine order that show so boldly.” The influential host asked Arnel if he ever even dreamed this.

Arnel said he never dreamed that an amazing thing like this could happen and he is overwhelmed that he is being interviewed by Oprah.

“I’m facing you (Winfrey) right now. You are [one of the] biggest [names] in show business and I’m facing you. It’s like… I’m not allowed to be here but I’m here. And I thank God for that,” he said.

“I’ve seen enough pain and poverty in the Philippines. I’ve never been that big. All I wanted was to be able to get out of it — the pain and the poverty – and live decently everyday,” he added.

Because Arnel’s success story inspired many people around the world, it was reported that his life story will be made into a biopic titled “Don’t Stop Believing: Every Man’s Journey.”

Journey performed “Faithfully”, the song he was singing when he was discovered in YouTube, and Oprah together with her studio audience were all blown away.

The powerhouse young vocalist has a powerhouse team for her debut album which include Grammy award-winning Diane Warren (writer of monster hits like I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, Unbreak My Heart, Because You Love Me and How Do I Live), the legendary David Foster (album producer of Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, etc.) and the most influential woman Oprah Winfrey.

On the May 18 (Monday) episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show, Charice perfomred her first US single entitled “A Note to God.” She was teary eyed as she belted out the last part of the song amid cheers and applause from the audience. It also brought Oprah to tears.

Charice was accompanied by an orchestra and a choir with David Foster playing on the piano. Some critics compared the performance to an American Idol finale where the audience are having goosebumps while listening to the song. Even before Charice hit the final note, the audience were already in standing ovation.

Oprah could only utter “wow” while Diane Warren described Charice‘s performance as “amazing” and “beautiful.”

David Foster, on the other hand, said: “In my world, this only happens two to three times probably in my lifetime. And I work with a lot of people. So, this is one of those two to three moments… she just sings so beautifully.”

Charice said that the very first song that she ever learned was “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion.

After her performance, she was surprised by a live video feed of Celine Dion herself, her idol.
