GMA Network marks another milestone as it debuts the cinematic version of the Philippine national anthem featuring the brightest Kapuso stars.

This new theatrical version retells Philippine History through a succession of carefully-crafted and awe-inspiring reenactments of historical events from Lapu-Lapu’s victory over Magellan’s troops in the Battle of Mactan to the Filipinos’ peaceful revolt in pursuit of democracy in the 1986 People Power Revolution at EDSA.

The new version, which was conceived from the strengthened corporate partnership between GMA Network and SM Cinemas, advances the narration of Philippine history from the standard versions released before.

This project was done in close coordination with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, who recognized the Network’s efforts to instill nationalism and patriotism among the Filipino people.

Shot wholly in high-definition (HD) digital video technology, the national anthem is slated to roll on the big screens of SM across the country. It will also be a part of GMA’s sign-on and sign-off messages marking the beginning and end of each day’s broadcast.

The video had its world premiere minutes ago at the opening of Party Pilipinas.

A music video of the Philippine National Anthem featuring kapuso stars will be seen on SM Cinemas soon.

Conceptualized by director Mark Reyes, the said Philippine National Anthem music video will feature various kapuso stars portraying our national heroes. He revealed that Aljur Abrenica will portray Lapu Lapu. Cesar Montano, on the other hand, was supposed to play Dr. Jose Rizal but it was already late when he transferred to the kapuso network that’s why the role was given to another star.

According to direk Mark, the music video costs P7 million to produce. It will last 2 minutes and 30 seconds and it will be seen on SM cinemas nationwide.

Charice rendered the “original” version of “Lupang Hinirang” like what she rehearsed last Tuesday with the help of maestro Ryan Cayabyab.

The Billboard chart-topper sticked to the “marching” tempo of the song to avoid controversy.

Charice will start shooting for the top-rating American TV series “Glee” on July 28 and will also train on Broadway for the show.

The National Historial Institute is going gaga over Martin Nievera‘s “pop” version of Lupang Hinirang during the Pacquiao-Hatton match last Sunday. In this line, we have three thought-provoking questions for you.

First and foremost, did you like Martin Nievera’s fresh new version of the Philippine National Anthem? The traditionalists say the song is “untouchable.” The liberals say it was very artistic and was not in any way disrespectful of our national dignity. How about you, did you like it? Section 37 of Chapter 2 of the law says the national anthem should be played or sung in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of its composer Julian Felipe. Violators upon conviction will be fined P5,000 to P20,000 and may be imprisoned for no more than a year.

The tempo became upbeat at the beginning of the fifth line until it reaches the climax of the song which is the last line “Ang Mamatay ng Dahil Sa Iyo”. Martin hits a very high note at the end and maintained his vibrato to the delight of the proud Filipinos at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The new version that Martin sang was approved by the Historic Institute of the Philippines.
