“Lumayo Ka Man sa Akin” marks the return of the Precious Hearts Romances series, which is the only Asian series to be nominated in the prestigious International Emmy Awards last year for “Impostor” that was topbilled by Maja.

Joining Maja as her leading men in the PHR series are premiere dramatic actor Jason Abalos and Patrick Garcia, who is staging a comeback as a Kapamilya five years after he was last seen on ABS-CBN’s “Kampanerang Kuba” and “Darating ang Umaga.”

The drama series also serves as the television comeback of actress Ina Raymundo, who had a hiatus from showbiz after opting to be a full time mom. The other cast members include Ariel Rivera, Ina Feleo, Kathleen Hermosa, Toby Alejar, Mico Palanca, Bettina Carlos, and John Arcilla.

“PHR presents Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin” follows the struggles of Janine del Castillo, a young woman who is on the verge of repeating her mother’s mistake as she chooses between two different paths of love. Despite having a good life, Janine still feels something missing in her life. She may be beautiful, smart, rich, and engaged to handsome and accomplished lawyer Matthew De Vega (Patrick Garcia), but she feels incomplete as she longs for her biological mother.

One day, her dad finally reveals the truth about her mom and how she was borne of an illicit love affair. When Maurice (Ariel Rivera) met Consuelo (Ina Raymundo), he wasn’t aware that she was married to another man. Maurice was left with no choice but to take care of Janine when Consuelo had to go back to her real family.

Upon learning the truth, Janine began her search for her mom and find the answers herself. But along the way, she will meet Jake Falcon (Jason Abalos), a gorgeous, young hunk who will make her think twice about marrying Matthew. The two will share romantic and intense moments together that will complicate things for Janine.

Shaina, who plays the title role, said viewers should watch out if her character will be able to regain her life back after finally finding her way back to Rancho Del Carmen.

“Finally, maaalala ni Alyna ang tungkol kay Dominic (Jason Abalos) at Baby Nico. Pero hindi magiging madali ang mga bagay para sa kaniya dahil may iba na ring buhay si Dominic kasama si Lilet (Kaye Abad),” she said.

Just like her character, Shaina admits to being a fighter herself. “Lahat ng tao, marunong lumaban pag kailangan na. Dahil sa mga pinagdaanan ko these past few years, natuto na rin akong lumaban para sa sarili ko at para sa mga taong mahal ko.”

Meanwhile, with the approaching finale of the show, none of the “Alyna” cast are walking away empty-handed because of the great impact “Alyna” has made to their careers.

Apart from getting to work with top-tier directors in F.M. Reyes, Cathy Garcia-Molina and Neil Del Rosario, Jason Abalos said he got his meatiest role to date in “Alyna.”

“Sa Alyna kasi, buo yung character ko. Kilala ko yung character mula umpisa hanggang dulo. Ang pagiging Dominic, hindi lang basta-basta pagganap sa isang papel. Kailangan alagaan ang simula o pagbuo sa character niya. Alam ko kung paano kikilos at magsasalita,” explained Jason.

The same can be said by Shaina, who counts Alyna as her most daring and most challenging role ever. “Alam ng lahat kung gaano ka mature ang material namin, may lalim talaga. Ang dami kong paghihirap, sakit na naramdaman for the first time na hindi ko ma-associate sa buhay ko, na kailangan kong ramdamin as Alyna,” she shared.

Kaye Abad, who’s used to playing the heroine, said she enjoys playing an antagonist. She said she likes it that her character is not purely evil, and is actually someone any person can relate to. “Parang sa totoong buhay lang. tayo rin naman nagiging kontrabida, pero hindi naman pumapatay ng tao. Mas real siya. Hindi sya yung tipong kontrabida na purong masasamang salita o may pinapalanong masama.”

Meanwhile, JM De Guzman, a seasoned theater and indie film actor, takes with him many lessons on TV acting. “ Hindi nako masyado nangangapa sa TV. Sa TV, ‘yung processing time mo maliit lang compared sa theater at indie films. You have to be focused. Dapat preparado.”

Showbiz newcomers Paul Jake Castillo and Beauty Gonzalez also gained confidence through the support of their co-stars and director. “Hindi mahirap katrabaho sila Jason at Sid. Kahit na award-winning actors sila, sobrang relaxed. Binibigyan nila ako ng tip sa acting. Sabi nila, “understand the scene, at kung saan galing ang character.”

Beauty, who also had to show some skin in the show, said “Dahil sa pagganap ko kay Lisa, mas comfortable na ako sa katawan ko. Pagdating sa sexier roles, gusto ko rin naman i-push yung sarili ko. Tingnan natin kung ano ang darating at kung kaya ko na.”

“Alyna,” which was only supposed to run for two to three months was extended to until February due to its stellar performance in the national TV ratings. With a quality that rivals primetime programs, “Alyna” didn’t only raise the bar of afternoon dramas but also heightened the competitiveness of the whole afternoon block.

Titled “Mana Po”, the series will be Melason’s (monicker for Melai and Jason) project for 2011 after their much talked-about team up in Pinoy Big Brother Double UP, Melason in the City, Precious Hearts Romances Presents Impostor and Kokey@Ko.

The story of “Mana Po” was said to be tailor made by Precious Hearts Romances for Melai and Jason and that the book will be released alongside the premiere of their series.

Directing “Mana Po” are Erick Salud and Katski Flores. It is set to premiere on the 1st quarter of 2011 taking the timeslot of Alyna.

Melai Cantiveros & Jason Francisco Star in their Own PHR Titled ‘Mana Po’ originally appeared on Starmometer on December 18, 2010.

The sizzling trio is ready to add spice to ABS-CBN’s top-rating Primetime Bida with the rest of “Kristine” cast Zanjoe Marudo, Cristine Reyes, Rafael Rosell, JM De Guzman, and Rayver Cruz.

Villania plays Scarlet Saavedra, a strong woman who is very far from the typical Maria Clara. “[As] Atty. Saavedra, I am no weak woman…I live each day as [if it were] my last,” she said.

The actress shared how nervous she was to take on a sensual role but she was relieved by the fact that her screen partner is fellow ASAP XV artist Rafael. “I’ve worked with him in ASAP [for] a dance number. And in that performance, I needed to trust him as we were doing lifts in the prod. It wasn’t an easy lift,” Villania said.

Despite what seems to be a challenging role, the actress is excited because this is a new acting experience altogether. “Basta appropriate sa role, I should be fine doing something a little bit more daring.”

While Villania is slightly nervous, Garcia is excited and prepared for her role. The actress, after all, has had previous experience baring her skin on camera in programs like “Palos” and “Magkano ang Iyong Dangal.”

In the series, Garcia portrays the role of Diana Montero, a woman enshrouded in mystery. One of the few things we know of her is that she hails from a broken family. “Hindi niya nakukuha ang pagmamahal na gusto niya. She’s lonely kaya she’s working hard para mahalin siya ng ibang tao,” Garcia said.

Meanwhile, Moreno’s first day at work was quite a challenge, as she was required to engage in a kissing scene with JM De Guzman who plays Nathaniel. She, however, believes the sexy edge of the show lies in the story.

“Yung pagka-sexy ng Kristine eh hindi lang basta magpakita ng katawan o maghalikan. May magandang kuwento sa likod ng mga maiinit na eksenang ipinapalabas nila,” she explained.

She added De Guzman’s gentleman ways helped her feel comfortable. “Noong first day, hindi kami nakapag-usap pero ramdam ko yung kabaitan niya. ‘Yung isang eksena kasi namin, on-screen parang topless ako. In real life, naka-tube ako. Si JM, hindi tumitingin sa akin, nakayuko lang siya before the take. Titingin lang ‘yun pag-nag-roll na ang camera,” she recounted.

Moreno plays the character of Jasmin, a woman who would do anything for her family and would be willing to give up everything, especially for her siblings.

Apart from these three women, two new characters also join the series—Charlie (Joross Gamboa) and Rowena (Neri Naig) who have pivotal roles in the story.

Yet Kaye admitted she still feels nervous playing the antagonist as people may hate her for it. So far, she said people are able to separate the real Kaye from Lilet.

“So far wala pa naman akong nababasa na sobrang galit. ‘Yung iba natutuwa dahil something new yung role dahil ‘yun ‘yung hindi ko masyado nagagawa. ‘Yung dati kasi puro iyak, puro pa-sweet,” she explained. Playing the role of Lilet is indeed a feat for Kaye. She must convince Dominic (Jason Abalos), the man she hurt, to love her again.

Another challenge for Kaye is showing her sexy side in “Alyna,” which has featured intimate yet artistically shot scenes before. Recently, she was seen in a two-piece bikini in an entire episode.

Shaina, meanwhile, continues to be compared not just to Kaye but actresses from the rival program. The young star chose to go the high road when asked to react to write-ups saying she is less sexy than her counterparts.

“Ang pagiging sexy ni Alyna eh hindi sa pagpapakita ng katawan. It’s about how she carries herself, yung demeanor nya as a person, mga decision nya in life. That’s what makes her sexy,” she said.

The actress also maintained she is not threatened by comparisons. “I have nothing against anyone. I see it as healthy competition.”

Eventually, she falls in love with Rex (Sid Lucero) but after they get married and have a child, Rex suddenly disappears and leaves Alyna distraught.

Lonely and vulnerable, Alyna falls in love with another man, Dominic (Jason Abalos) but things will soon get complicated when Rex returns in her life. Which man will she choose—the first man who loved her or the man who helped her recover from a broken heart and promised to love her forever?

Shaina, television’s Princess of Hearts, revealed that it wasn’t hard for her to accept the project even if it was a sensual material.

“As long as I believe in the project, in my director and my leading men, na hindi bastos yung kalalabasan, okay lang sa ‘kin,” says the former child star.

Shaina is joined by her leading men Sid Lucero and Jason Abalos, two of the most-awarded young actors of today.

Sid said he immediately built a rapport with Shaina even if this is only their first time to work together. He said there were no awkward moments even during their intimate scenes.

“With Shaina, it’s not a problem. We talk about how we would like to attack a scene. We remind each other na ‘I’m supposed to like you here,” he explained.

Jason, meanwhile, is excited to work again with Shaina.

“Nakaka-excite kasi yung mga naka-trabaho mo noon, makakatrabaho mo ulit,” ayon kay Jason na proud sa naabot ng kaibigan,” he said.
“Para kay Shaina ‘to. Big step ito para sa career niya,” he added.

Shaina isn’t the only one going the daring route. Kaya Abad, also known for her wholesome image, is also making a big step in her career through “Alyna” by playing a very off-beat role.

“Acting wise, mas matured na yung role ko. May twist kasi yung character na hindi ko pa nagagawa sa mga nagdaang role ko. Doon ako nae-excite,” shared Kaye
