Brillante Mendoza‘s “Serbis” was the big winner at the 32nd Gawad Urian.
Our very own Gina Pareño has just won Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Serbis” (Service) in the recently concluded 3rd Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF).
International award-winning movie “Serbis” (Service) by Brillante Mendoza (Slingshot, The Masseur, Summer Heat, Foster Child) is showing in selected theaters in the US on January 16, 2009. Check out the US poster and trailer of Serbis after the jump.
“Sebis,” the Philippine entry in Cannes, grabbed it’s 3rd international award. Cinemalaya Best Picture “Jay” won special mention.
Serbis, the Philippine entry in this year’s Cannes Festival, grabbed two trophies from Russia.
The movie that brought honor to the country by making it to Cannes Film Festival last month – Serbis – received an X rating from the MTRCB. Even its poster and movie trailer were also rated-X.
It’s a hometown victory at the 61st Cannes Film Festival as French director, Laurent Cantet won the Palme d’Or for best film for his movie The Class (Entre Les Murs) about teacher-pupil relationships in a multicultural school classroom in France. Philippine Entry “Serbis” went home empty-handed.
After 24 years, another Filipino film made it to compete in the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival in France.
