In an interview with Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) Friday night, Coco Martin is grateful to his fans for making him win in Starmometer’s 100 Sexiest Men in the Philippines for 2010 poll.

In the fourth edition of Starmometer’s exclusive poll “RP’s Sexiest Men,” Coco Martin received the most number of votes besting previous winners Sam Milby (2007), Piolo Pascual (2008) and Aljur Abrenica (2009). The said poll was conducted through Starmometer’s official Facebook fanpage where every participant (registered online voter) can only vote once and everyone can see who voted for whom in real time. The poll was opened last April 6 and ended last May 2.

It’s interesting to note that Starmometer received its all-time highest number of hits in one day last May 3 when we posted the results of RP’s Sexiest Men of 2010. Last May 3 (Monday), we got 30,627 unique hits and 62,271 page impressions for the whole day. The next day, May 4 (Tuesday), Starmometer surpassed the 30,000 unique hits bracket/day for the second time.

Coco Martin is very happy and grateful with the triple blessings that he received this week. First, he won Best Actor at the Golden Screen Awards for his performance in “Kinatay.” Second, he bagged a very important role in the highly-anticipated Star Cinema movie “Sa ‘Yo Lamang” co-starring him with Lorna Tolentino, Christopher De Leon, Bea Alonzo, Diether Ocampo and Enchong Dee who ranked 2nd to him in this year’s RP’s Sexiest Men. And thirdly, he was voted as no. 1 Sexiest Man in the Philippines.

In an interview with Showbiz News Ngayon which was aired Friday night, Coco is grateful with these blessings.

“Actually, nabalitaan ko rin yan. Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng mga bumoto sa akin, sa lahat ng Cocoholics, maraming maraming salamat. Sobra kong thankful pero hindi ko inexpect na mananalo ako,” he said.

Ruffa Gutierrez left in the middle of her talk show The Buzz last Sunday because she got hurt by Kris Aquino‘s remarks regarding her transfer to TV5. The alleged “walk out” happened during the Points of View segment (POV) (Read the related story here).

The issue was magnified when rival program “Showbiz Central” aired a phone patch interview with Ruffa’s mom, Annabelle Rama, expressing her disgust on Kris Aquino.

The Queen of All Media did not answer the strong statements issued by Annabelle Rama on her show but instead sent a text message to Philippine Entertainment Portal expressing her deepest apology to Ruffa.

Here’s an excerpt from the text message that Kris Aquino sent to Philippine Entertainment Portal:

“I would like to extend a loving hug to Ruffa. I viewed the tape & although I still feel I gave my comment w/ affection, maybe it made her feel even worse because she’s now moving in a new direction. We had what I believed was a good working relationship in the almost 2 years we were together on The Buzz.”

“I can also understand that Ruffa’s mom dislikes Noynoy & my family, maybe because of association & our vocal proclamation of admiration for Dingdong & his selfless contribution to help Noy’s presidential bid. It is w/ Ruffa that I enjoyed a healthy working relationship & I only have good words to say about her.

“To Ruffa, I sincerely apologize for causing u hurt…”

“…I want Ruffa to have a great career ahead of her—because she is a woman, raising 2 beautiful daughters. And I champion all women who triumph despite the odds—just like my own Mom.”

“As a woman, and as Ruffa’s Mom and the lola of Lorin & Venice, I respect u tita Annabelle and on behalf of our family, I apologize for the distress we caused yours. Hindi po ako mayabang, kaya ako nagpapakumbaba ngayon.”

“Thank u for your time & may God bless all of us w/ a peaceful week ahead.”

Ruffa Gutierrez finally allowed the press to interview her two days after the much talked-about incident.

“I know that we love each other and I know that we’ve been friends for a long, long time. Medyo nasaktan lang ako noon kasi doon sa mga parinig niya na, ‘Naku, you know mahal na mahal ako ng mga tiga-Laoag. Seventy percent ng mga tao nakikita ako dito (The Buzz).’ Parang pinapalabas niya na walang manonood sa akin sa TV5,” she said.

“I really wanted to go back on-air but I couldn’t stop crying. So, natanggal na ang pilik-mata ko, nag-smear na ang lining ko and I admit I was emotional. Hindi ako nag-walkout. Ewan ko ba kung bakit sinabing nag-walkout. Mga intrigero kayo. Masama bang umiyak sa dressing room. Kung akala ng mga tao OA (overacting), ganoon talaga ang emotion ko noong time na ‘yon. Wala akong magagawa. Hindi ko talaga sinasadya ‘yon,” she added.

In an interview with Showbiz News Ngayon, Ruffa said she appreciated and accepted Aquino’s public apology. “Ako naman, I’m a very fun-loving individual and kaibigan ko din naman si Kris. And I have the highest respect for her.”

As for her mom Annabelle Rama’s response to Kris’s apology, she said: “Sinabi lang niya, ‘Naku day, tanggapin mo na ang apology ni Kris, day. Kasi nakita ko naman nagpa-kumbaba na siya. Sige, okay na yan, day.’ Alam mo naman ang mommy ko, para siyang volcano.”

Her final words were: “Wala ng Team Ruffa, Team Kris. Team friendship na lang, di ba?”

Ruffa is slated to bid farewell to the Buzz this Sunday. If she ever appears on the said episode, she and Kris will have another tv moment that could never happen again for a long time.

We all know that the TNS Nationwide TV Ratings is ABS-CBN’s turf but there is one GMA primetime program that they can’t beat: Survivor Philippines Palau.

Survivor Philippines Palau is pitted against Florinda last Friday night and it got 19.9% while the horror series garnered 17.8%. With the entry of Stairway to Heaven last Monday night, Survivor Philippines Palau is now pitted against SNN and it still emerged victorious with 18.5%. The showbiz talk show only garnered 12.2% nationwide.

GMA’s new program, Stairway to Heaven, had its pilot episode last Monday night. According to TNS survey, the koreanovela remake received 25.8% and it was overpowered by its rival show, Tayong Dalawa, which got 39.9%. Stairway is second to Darna among GMA programs nationwide.

The Laurenti Dyogi romantic drama had a very successful premiere night at the Trinoma Mall Cinema in Quezon City last night, August 11, 2009.

In the past, SM Megamall Cinemas (particularly Cinema 9 and 10) were the venue for all Star Cinema movie premiere nights. But why Trinoma Cinema this time?

SM Megamall Cinema 10 was supposedly the venue for the movie’s premiere night as announced by Star Cinema through its multiply site but the site’s content says otherwise (see Google search result below).

Watch the report of Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino Tuesday night on Showbiz News Ngayon making it very clear that And I Love You So is opening today in more than 100 theaters nationwide EXCEPT SM Cinemas. They announced the list of theaters where the public can watch the movie and not even 1 SM cinema was mentioned.

The two hosts did not make any comment regarding the matter. When Boy Abunda mentioned “…EXCEPT SM Cinemas”, Kris Aquino could only mutter “Oh, Oh.”

SM Supermall is an avid sponsor of various GMA shows. Their condominium is being endorsed by Darna star Marian Rivera. Is the network war behind this matter?

Star Cinema, on the other hand, said they will release an official statement regarding this matter any time from now.

The young actor’s sister, Ruffa Gutierrez, confirmed on Showbiz News Ngayon Friday night that Richard is already out of danger although he’s still in a state of shock and traumatized because of the accident. She said that the airbag of Richard’s vehicle, a Nissan Skyline GTR, saved his life.

The actress also revealed that her brother sustained cuts and bruises all over his face and that he underwent a two-hour operation. Ruffa also announced that Richard will no longer need a cornea operation because the doctor successfully removed some pieces of glass that went in his eye.

Richard was rushed to the Asian Hospital Medical Center in Alabang after his car crashed into a post at 1:30 am at Tagaytay-Sta. Rosa Road, Silang, Cavite province.

An initial report from Puting Kahoy Police Station in Silang said that Richard, with his two companions, his personal assistant and bodyguard, were on their way to Manila when their vehicle crashed.

The authorities from Puting Kahoy Police Station in Silang said Gutierrez was driving with his personal assistants and bodyguard George Mastura and Norman Pardo and may have over-sped while traversing a semi-curved road before crashing onto a post. They were both rushed to Olivares Hospital and was then moved to Asian Hospital in Alabang.

One of Richard’s two companion, identified as Norman Pardo, was declared dead on arrival at Adventist University of the Philippines.

Richard’s mother, Anabelle Rama, said his son was on his way home from a shooting of a cinema plug of his new TV show Full House with his two companions when the accident occurred.

Annabelle added that her family are still in shock over what happened.

Showbiz News Ngayon reported Wednesday night that ABS-CBN finally hits no. 1 in Mega Manila last May 19, 2009.

According to Taylor Nelson Sofres, ABS-CBN received an audience share of 40% in Mega Manila against GMA’s 39%. It’s been a while since ABS-CBN ruled the Mega Manila TV ratings and to date, the figures are telling that the kapamilya network is about to reclaim the leadership.

In Metro Manila, ABS-CBN received an audience share of 43% against GMA’s 34% on the same date.

And nationwide, ABS-CBN garnered an audience share of 50% against GMA’s 31%. 19% belongs to all other networks combined.

On the said date, 100% of ABS-CBN programs trumped all its rival GMA shows including Showbiz News Ngayon which is always beaten by the koreanovela Fated to Love You.

This feat could be attributed to the drama series “Tayong Dalawa” starring Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca and Kim Chiu for topping the primetime race in Mega Manila. Another strategy made by ABS-CBN that worked was the timeslot swapping of Pinoy Bingo Night and Boys Over Flowers.

Paging Darna! GMA badly needs a superhero right now.

Here’s the sitch: Dra. Vicky Belo took the hot seat for the “Gimme Mo” segment of Showbiz Central Sunday afternoon. Questions from Regine Velasquez, Lorna Tolentino, Lolit Solis, Butch Francisco and Richard Gomez were selected for the show, for Mo Twister to ask Vicky Belo.

The first question was: “Sa lahat ng mga artista, kanino ka pinakanahirapan dahil sa dami ng dapat baguhin sa katawan niya?”

The famous doctor replied, “Number one, never na nahihirapan ang Belo Medical Group dahil napakagaling namin at kumpleto kami sa mga laser. Number two, kahit meron man artista na ganoon, hindi ko rin masasabi dahil sa patient-doctor confidentiality.”

And then Belo was asked to comment about her biggest rival’s claim (Calayan) that they have better-looking endorsers than Belo Medical Group. She said:

“Well, first of all, I feel kinda bad. Kasi, ako naman ang nag-umpisa ng mga bati-bati ng mga artista. I feel bad, kasi parang ginagaya lang nila ako. Sana naman, maghanap naman sila ng unique marketing… And I’d like to say, if you want to look like Boy Abunda, then go to Calayan. But if you like to look like Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual, come to Belo.”

Monday night on SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, Boy Abunda tearfully answered Belo’s statement on Showbiz Central. He said:

“Nasindak po ako, na-surprise po ako, di po ako makapaniwala…kaibigan ko pong matalik si Dra. Vicky Belo for years. Vicky if you’re watching alam mo na kahit kailan hindi ako namuhunan sa gandang panlabas dahil alam ko wala ako masyado nun. Alam mo na namuhunan ako ng lakas ng loob, sipag at tiyaga, dasal, at Vicky wala akong ilusyong gumanda. At wala ring ninumang may karapatan na manlait sa aking pagkatao.”

Boy narrated that his mom called him late Sunday night from Samar and asked him if he did something wrong to Vicky Belo and why she insulted him on national tv. Boy assured her mom that he did not do anything against the famous cosmetic doctor.

“Vicky if you’re watching, you know i did not do anything bad to you to deserve this insult. Wala akong ginawa sa ‘yo. And ma if you’re watching, wala po akong ginawa. Narating ko po ang maliit na espasyo ko dito sa industriya na wala po akong tinapakan. At mga kaibigan, hindi po tayo kinakailangang kasing-ganda o kasing-gwapo ni Dingdong Dantes para maging masaya at para maging mabuting tao,” he added.

The M/Y Wow Cruiser has four rooms in the lower deck including a master’s bedroom, elegant comfort room and shower room and a living room complete with entertainment amenities. Kris Aquino was highly impressed on every part of the yacht that she saw, most specially when she learned that the yacht runs in auto-pilot.

Apparently, there is a part 2 of the exclusive SNN interview wherein Kris Aquino asked Willie if he’s already worth P1 billion pesos and if he is indeed the highest-paid entertainer in the country. The answer will be revealed tonight on Showbiz News Ngayon, after Tayong Dalawa.
