GMA confirmed the reports that Sunshine Dizon will be pulled-out from her afternoon soap opera “Sine Novela Presents: Tinik sa Dibdib”. Here is the network’s official statement:

GMA Network would like to inform the public that it has pulled out Ms. Sunshine Dizon from her current afternoon drama program, Sine Novela presents Tinik sa Dibdib, due to health reasons.

It was decided that Ms. Dizon’s condition would make it impossible for her to perform as an actress. GMA Network advised Ms. Dizon to rest in order to fully recover.

There are rumors that Sunshine committed suicide by overdosing herself of sleeping pills. Tanya Garcia’s brother, who is reported as Sunshine’s boyfriend, allegedly broke up with her that’s why the “Tinik sa Dibdib” star got depressed, allegedly took some pills and got hospitalized. Another rumor has it that Sunshine is pregnant. These rumors are all unconfirmed.

According to Dorothy Laforteza, Sunshine’s mother, the “pregnant” issue is not true. The only thing that she said was that her daughter will take a vacation in the US with his father and that she might study there and eventually quit showbiz.

Sunshine Dizon will be replaced by Nadine Samonte in the upcoming episodes of “Tinik sa Dibdib.”

A significant decline were evident in the overnight tv ratings of AGB Nielsen during and after typhoon Ondoy wreaked havoc in Mega Manila. But as the week progresses, the ratings gradually came back to normal.

Last September 28, two soap operas debuted on GMA-7. But since Metro Manila is badly hit by typhoon Ondoy last Saturday, the aftermath affected some shows specially “Tinik sa Dibdib” and “Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit” because both soaps started in a very low note they did not even manage to enter the daytime’s top 10.

The next day, September 29, Iza Calzado‘s soap debuted at no. 5 in daytime’s top 10 and then it climbed to no. 3 last September 30 and reached no. 2 last October 1. It was rating better than Sunshine Dizon’s soap for the whole week EXCEPT last Friday when Tinik sa Dibdib took over the 2nd spot and Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit settled for the 3rd slot.

In the primetime race, Lovers in Paris also held its pilot episode last Monday night and it’s safe to say that it was not affected by Ondoy by virtue of its 20% rating which is good for fourth place. It maintained the position on Tuesday but it dropped to the seventh position last Wednesday and Thursday. It ended it’s first week run last Friday at no. 5, tied with Survivor Philippines Palau.

‘Tinik sa Dibdib’ and ‘Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit’ Fail to Enter AGB’s Top 10 Because of Ondoy originally appeared on Starmometer on October 7, 2009.

The classic film Tinik sa Dibdib originally starred Phillip Salvador, Dina Bonnevie and Nora Aunor.

The GMA remake of the film is topbilled by Sunshine Dizon while Philip Salvador‘s role will be played by Marvin Agustin. Included in the cast are Ara Mina, Michelle Madrigal, former PBB housemate Rico Barrera, Bembol Roco, Daria Ramirez, Maybelyn Dela Cruz, Joel Torre and Shirley Fuentes.

The GMA Sine Novela is directed by Gil Tejada Jr. and premieres on September 28, Monday, under the Dramarama sa Hapon block.

Directed by Topel Lee (Ouija), Sundo received a grade of “B” from the Cinema Evaluation Board. It is rated PG by the MTRCB because of some violent scenes not suitable for children.

It is a story about a retired military operative who goes into seclusion and discovers that he has the uncanny ability of seeing ghosts around people who will soon encounter sudden, disastrous deaths.

‘Sundo’ Tops RP Box-Office with P17.98 M, ‘You Changed My Life’ Hits P216.3 M originally appeared on Starmometer on March 24, 2009.

Sundo is an upcoming suspense-thriller movie directed by Topel Lee, the one who also helm the hit horror film Ouija starring Judy Ann Santos. The film changed its release date from October 22, 2008 to March 18, 2009 to make way for the Dingdong Dantes-Marian Rivera starrer, One True Love.

In Sundo, Robin Padilla plays Romano Iñiguez, a resigned military operative who possesses a third eye. Also starring in Sundo are Sunshine Dizon as Louella, Romano’s childhood friend who harbors affection for him; Rhian Ramos as Isabel, Romano’s younger sister; Katrina Halili as Kristina; Hero Angeles as Eric, Mark Bautista as Baste; and Glydel Mercado as Lumen.

Gist: Seven passengers on a trip to Manila escape death and their respective “sundo” by a twist of fate. Soon, they realize that the price they have to pay for gambling with the spirit of tragedy is the hardest and most ruthless battle they will ever come to face.

Sunshine has undergone liposuction to prepare for her upcoming assignments on her mother station. One of these is the drama anthology “Obra” where the spotlight turns from one kapuso star to another each month to showcase their acting skills by playing different roles.

The first episode of her Obra Assignment is “Drama Queen” wherein Sunshine will play the role of a bold star in the 70′s. She will also play a “tomboy” and a “black” woman in the succeeding episodes.

Sunshine is also doing a movie with Robin Padilla. The GMA Films movie is entitled “Sundo” and it is being helmed by Topel Lee.
