Data from Kantar Media, formerly Taylor Nelson Sofres or TNS, showed ABS-CBN has a 44 percent audience share vs. GMA’s 30 percent for the period of 1-14 June 2010.

Mega Manila is also going Kapamilya as ABS-CBN got a 36 percent audience share or three points higher than GMA’s 33 percent. Year-on-year, ABS-CBN’s audience share in Mega Manila grew by .8 points from 35.2 percent in June 2009, while GMA’s audience share lost 7 points from 40 percent in June 2009

ABS-CBN’s, on the other hand, kept its stronghold in Metro Manila with its lead widening to 38 percent vs GMA’s 30 percent.
Meanwhile, 14 out of the overall top 20 programs nationwide for 1-14 June 2010 are produced by ABS-CBN.

“Agua Bendita,” topbilled Andi Eigenmann, is number one with an average rating of 39.5%. ABS-CBN’s newly launched teleserye “Momay” starring child superstar Xyriel Manabat also proved to be a strong contender occupying the 9th spot with 25.7%.

When it comes to news, most Filipinos watch “TV Patrol World.” It is the number one new program with an average rating of 33.2 percent, ten points higher than rival “24 Oras” (22.2%). During Election Day, the whole nation tuned in to “TV Patrol World” for election-related news and information as it topped the national TV ratings survey on May 10 with 31.5% trouncing its competition “24 Oras.”

The country’s biggest talent-reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent” topped weekend programming. Its finale held last June 6 at the Araneta Coliseum hit a whopping 43.8 percent, the second highest weekend rating recorded by Kantar Media after Pinoy Big Brother Double Up’s Big Night (44.6%).

Other programs in the overall weekday and weekend Top 20 include “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” (34.9%), “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (34.2%), “Rated K” (29.2%), “Agimat presents Elias Paniki” (27.5%), “Rubi” (27.2%), “Sharon” (23.7%), “Goin Bulilit” (23%), “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash 2010 (Weekday)” (19.1%), “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash 2010 (Saturday)” (18.5%), and “Kapamilya Sunday Blockbuster” (18.3%).

Aside from dominating the ratings game, ABS-CBN continued its winning streak by bagging major recognitions at the recently held 2010 Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) Journalism Awards. ANC won as TV News Station of the Year while DZMM took home the Radio Station of the Year trophy. Anchor Ricky Carandang, on the other hand, was proclaimed Broadcast Journalist of the Year. Karen Davila also received the distinct honors of being one of the Young Global Leaders for 2010 by the World Economic Forum while senior reporter Nina Corpuz was awarded the Media For Labor Rights Prize, a journalistic prize given by United Nation’s International Labour Organization (ILO).

Kantar Media/TNS is a leading market research group in the world with a proven track record in audience research measurement systems in 32 countries. It started releasing its national television audience measurement (NUTAM) data on February 2009 with panels, composed of 1,370 representative households, covering urban Philippines and reporting on seven sectors namely NCR, Suburbs, North Luzon, Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

ABS-CBN shifted to Kantar Media/TNS after filing a case vs. AGB Nielsen Media Research for failing to comply with its request to investigate alleged cheating and data tampering in TV ratings. The case is still pending in court.

This is the highest position that a kapuso program has reached for a long time in the kapamilya dominated Taylor Nelson Sofres nationwide tv ratings. Usually, the top 4 to 5 positions in the nationwide survey were occupied by ABS-CBN shows but last Friday, April 30, The Last Prince became the second most-watched program nationwide next to Agua Bendita.

Can this be a trend that one kapuso program will once again capture the top spot nationwide? The last GMA-7 programs to top the nationwide tv ratings were MariMar and Dyesebel starring Marian Rivera. We will see in the coming days.

In the overnight tv ratings of Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) among national households from October 13 to 15, 2009, Katorse did not fell below 30%. The Erich Gonzales starrer even bested ABS-CBN’s main primetime series May Bukas Pa last Wednesday night by virtue of its 34.2% which is remarkable for a pre-primetime program.

TV Patrol World, on the other hand, still ruled the primetime race nationwide. In the daytime race, Wowowee is the undisputed leader.

‘TV Patrol’ Tops Nationwide Primetime Race originally appeared on Starmometer on October 3, 2009.

The well loved drama series hits 40.1% last Tuesday and tied with May Bukas Pa last Wednesday with 39.2 percent. Last Thursday, it once again took the solo lead with 39.3 percent.

Florinda was able to beat Survivor Philippines Palau last Tuesday night. But on Wednesday and Thursday, the GMA reality program proved to be stronger than the horror series.

In the daytime race, Kambal Sa Uma hit no. 1 from Tuesday to Thursday except on Wednesday when Wowowee took over the top spot.

‘Tayong Dalawa’ Tops Nationwide Survey on its 2nd to the Last Week originally appeared on Starmometer on September 19, 2009.

This is because its rival program, Darna, has been getting significant part of the pie. Since Darna debuted last Monday, May Bukas Pa returned to the 30% bracket compared to its 40%+ rating last week.

Darna even defeated May Bukas Pa last Tuesday Night. Darna received 35.4% against the 34.6% that May Bukas Pa got.

However, the kapamilya drama series bested Darna on Wednesday and Thursday night. But the rating decrease the super heroine caused to the erstwhile primetime leader made another program, TV Patrol World, to overtake the no. 1 slot. Last Wednesday night, TV Patrol World garnered 39% to top the nationwide primetime race.

The next night (Aug. 13, Thursday), TV Patrol World topped the primetime race once again. May Bukas Pa settled for 2nd place for the 2nd night in a row and Darna, slightly behind the drama series, is in 3rd place.

This doesn’t mean that primetime televiewers are now more interested in watching the news. It only means there is a steep “tug-of-war” in the timeslot of May Bukas Pa and Darna. The said “tug-of-war” caused other primetime shows to change their usual positions in the Top 10.
