Karen Davila Looks into Barangay and SK Elections
October 11, 2010 by cd · 3 Comments
Broadcast journalist Karen Davila will investigate the workings in a barangay to find out why many Filipinos aspire to become barangay officials this Tuesday (Oct 12) on “The Correspondents.”
As the smallest unit of government, the barangay is the first option when it comes to resolving issues and providing the needs of a community. But helping out the barangay isn’t always the reason for a resident to run for a position.
For the coming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in 42,000 locations in the Philippines, 4,000 citizens were already disqualified to run by the Department of Interior and Local Government.
Davila will study the scope of work and power, budget, and salaries for barangay officials to see how the position can be abused on “The Correspondents” this Tuesday (Oct 12) after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
Baldness and other Hair Problems on ‘The Correspondents’
September 27, 2010 by cd · 3 Comments
Hair fall does not only make a person’s “crowning glory” thinner. For others, it also decreases their self confidence.
Rhenant, 38 years old, thinks his thinning hair is the reason he doesn’t have a wife yet. He inherited baldness from his parents and at the age of 38, he’s close to losing all his hair.
Twenty-one year old Maricar, on the other hand, had her mane curled after giving birth, a decision that she now regrets. After going bald, Maricar fell into depression and was ashamed of going out of the house.
Is there still hope for the likes of Rhenant and Maricar? How can we prevent losing our hair?
Dominic Almelor will tackle every strand of baldness among Filipinos this Tuesday (Sept 28) on “The Correspondents” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
Karen Davila Visits Children with Broken Smiles on ‘The Correspondents’
September 13, 2010 by cd · 3 Comments
Siblings Justin, Jason and Janeya live quite problematic lives. Justin is an introvert and an outcast in his school, Jason is a constant Grade 1 repeater because he can’t speak well, and Janeya is very thin and frail because she has a hard time drinking her milk.
They were all born with cleft lip and palate, and this is the reason they can’t smile like other children.
Justin, Jason and Janeya are just three of the estimated 250,000 Filipinos who were born with this abnormality. What causes cleft lip and palate? Is it hereditary?
Join Karen Davila in “The Correspondents” as she searches for a way to bring back the smiles of those affected with cleft lip and palate on Tuesday (Sep 14) right after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.

August 23, 2010 by cd · 5 Comments
For some children, it has been a tradition to buy a new pair of shoes every start of a school year. But for children from less fortunate families like aspiring athletes Junjun and Aira, a tradition like this is just an ever-elusive dream.
Without the resources to get themselves proper training shoes, the two children from General Santos have not given up on their ambition. Just like famed runner Rio dela Cruz, Junjun and Aira never considered poverty as a hindrance to fulfilling their dreams.
This Tuesday (August 24), ABS-CBN news correspondent Gretchen Malalad will follow the kids’ journey as they join a marathon that gives its participants free shoes.
Watch them fight and win this challenge in their lives from the start to the finish line on “The Correspondents” right after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
