Toni Gonzaga made an intriguing quip about Piolo Pascual last Sunday on the Buzz. The video clip of the said segment is getting viral on Facebook.

Here’s the sitch: Boy Abunda asked Toni the question: “Kung ikaw naman ay magiging lalake sa totoong buhay, sino ka?”

Toni replied in an instant: “Piolo Pascual siguro, Piolo Pascual…”

But then an idea struck her spontaneously that she immediately asked Boy: “Lalake?”

The studio audience reacted immediately with laughter.

And did you see Cristine Reyes‘ (who was beside Boy Abunda) facial expression? Priceless.

Toni made some damage control and asked the audience.

“Bakit kayo gumanyan? Ang tinatanong ko kasi…”

“Bahala kayo. Lagyan n’yo ng meaning.”

His guesting stint on ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show is primarily to promote his movie “Won’t Last a Day Without You” where he plays support to Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson.

However, it also became a rare TV moment because it also served as de Leon’s reunion with Toni Gonzaga who used to be one of the hosts of “Eat Bulaga!” prior to her transfer to ABS-CBN.

This rumor was denied by Toni Gonzaga herself during the press conference for her “Toni @ 10″ concert.

“Actually nahihiya ako kasi siyempre sobrang busy ni Vice. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘Nahihiya na ako sa iyo, Vice.’ Tapos sabi niya, ‘Loka-loka ka talaga, ba’t ka nahihiya?’ Kasi siyempre alam ko kung gaano siya ka-busy at [kung gaano] ka-hectic [ang schedule niya]. Nahihiya talaga ako na imbitahan siya sa concert,” she said.

But it was Vice Ganda himself who called the multimedia star telling her that he would like to be part of the concert even without a talent fee because he considers her a part of his life.

“He really called to say na gusto niya maging parte and natutuwa ako sa kanya sa ginawa niyang ‘yun dahil isa siya sa maituturing kong mabuting kaibigan dito sa industriyang ito. Pero wala namang isyu ‘yung sa amin ni Vice…” she added.

The interview was supposed to be about Soriano’s Indie film “Thelma” which stars Maja Salvador. But as the interview went on, the topic swerved to “marriage” and this time, the director is announcing on national television how happy and lucky he is with the trust and love given to him by Toni.

“When you gave me your heart four years ago, I don’t just don’t wanna listen to your heart, I wanna take good care of it. That means whatever makes you happy, makes me happy. Anything that makes you shine.” he said.

At the end of the interview, Paul popped a surprise question that made Toni blushed.

“Everyone’s asking me besides the film, ‘when are we getting married’, ‘when are we going up to the next level’. You know naman that I’m ready. I’m turning 30 this October. And I believe talaga in my 30s I’m all settled up. So what I’m trying to say here is….’Will you….’…” Paul declared.

“Kakaloka ka, tigilan mo yan. ‘Wag mong gagawin yan.” Toni interrupted.

“When will you be ready? ‘Coz I’m ready, I’m ready. Just let me know what time, where, when you wanna do it…you wanna get married…So when are you gonna be ready?” continued Paul.

“Later na lang. Pinagmamadali mo ko!” Toni said as she ended the interview.

Toni Gonzaga‘s movie, “pWedding Tayo, pWedding Hindi,” which is incidentally about wedding is set to premiere tonight at SM North Edsa The Block and Trinoma Mall.

Paul Soriano‘s indie film “Thelma,” on the other hand, is set to open in theaters on September 7.

Star Cinema has another potential box-office record breaker in its upcoming release “Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi.”

Starring in the movie are two of the funniest actresses in the industry, Toni Gonzaga and Eugene Domingo. This is actually Gonzaga and Domingo’s second movie together, the first was in the 2006 romantic comedy “You are the One.”

Also starring in “Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi” (also titled “p’Wedding Tayo, p’Wedding Hindi”) are Kapamilya leading man Zanjoe Marudo and Kapuso-turned-Kapatid talent Wendell Ramos.

Directed by Jose Javier Reyes, the movie hits theaters this September.

Cruz and Gonzaga won the title because their movie “My Amnesia Girl” was the highest grossing Pinoy film in 2010 based on data collected from all SM Cinema’s 230 theaters in 40 branches nationwide.

SM’s Box-Office King and Queen winners differ from the same recognition being bestowed by Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation simply because they base their tally from the films’ box-office receipts from January 1 to December 31.

Guillermo’s basis include the MMFF films which runs on the last week of the year until the first week of the next year. Their box-office Kings and Queen for 2010 are Bong Revilla and Vic Sotto (tied for “Si Agimat at Si Enteng Kabisote), and Ai Ai delas Alas (for “Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To”), respectively.

Now that John Lloyd Cruz is back from his European vacation tour with girlfriend Shaina Magdayao, he is all set to work with his first movie this year, “Kanto Boys.”

Needless to say, He will co-star with the other members of the famed act on the musical variety show ASAP “The Kanto Boys” like Luiz Manzano, Billy Crawford and Vhong Navarro.

If ever the “Kanto Boys” movie pushes through, this will be John Lloyd Cruz‘s last film in a 3-movie contract for Star Cinema that he signed in 2009. His previous 2 movies “Miss You Like Crazy” and “My Amnesia Girl” were box-office hits so this year will not be complete without a JLC movie in the offing. And being the Box-Office King that he is, Star Cinema will offer him another contract for sure.

In an earlier interview, Cruz said that he will be reunited with his “My Amnesia Girl” leading lady Toni Gonzaga for the “Kanto Boys” movie. But there’s no formal announcement yet about the complete casting because they are still waiting for the contract as the planned movie is still in the scripting phase.

Cruz is excited for the project because this is the first time in a long time that he will do a comedy movie apart from his previous romantic flicks. But that of course is up to Star Cinema if they decide to push through with the project or make another romantic movie for JLC instead.

If ever JLC will be paired with a new leading lady in the future, guess who’s in his wish list?

John Lloyd Cruz Preps Up for Upcoming ‘Kanto Boys’ Movie originally appeared on Starmometer on June 13, 2011.

The Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards recently named Vic Sotto and Bong Revilla as the Box-Office Kings of 2010 while Ai Ai delas Alas as the Box-Office Queen. The basis was the box-office gross of their movies.

Sotto and Revilla’s MMFF collaboration “Si Agimat at Si Enteng Kabisote” raked in a total of P159 million in its 2-week MMFF duration. Ai Ai’s “Ang Tanging Ina Mo Last Na To”, also an MMFF entry, has grossed P157 million during the said period.

If we are to consider the whole 2 weeks duration of the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival including its run from January 1 to 8, 2011, then the said movies are the clear top-grossing Pinoy flicks for 2010 with “Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” at no. 1 while “Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na To” at no. 2.

Toni Gonzaga‘s fans disagree. They are appealing to the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards committee and their argument is that the basis for the awards should be the box-office gross of the films for 2010 only and that the January 1 to 8, 2011 gross of the 2 MMFF movies should NOT be counted. Thus, the highest-grossing Pinoy movie of 2010 should be “My Amnesia Girl” by virtue of its P144.8 million box-office gross.

This is definitely a debatable argument with technicalities to be considered. But in your opinion, do you agree with the results that Ai Ai delas Alas is the new box-office queen instead of Toni Gonzaga?
