Wowowee registered a primetime-worthy 32.3 percent beating its rival Eat Bulaga which only garnered 20.2% last Monday afternoon. Kambal Sa Uma also registered strongly beating its rival Ngayon at Kailanman.

In the nationwde survey of Taylor Nelson, ABS-CBN’s “Hapontastic” block usually sweep the competition. But last Monday afternoon, the GMA soap “Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat sa Akin” bested its rival “Maria de Jesus: Mga Anghel sa Lansangan” preventing the kapamilya sweep.

On the other hand, the second to the last week episode of Tayong Dalawa ended last Friday night topping the primetime race nationwide. The KIMERALD teleserye registered an strong rating of 38.1 percent.

Willie Revillame confirmed his return to Wowowee on ABS-CBN’s primetime showbiz program SNN.

“Tuloy na ho ang pag-asa. Tuloy na ang saya,” he said.

Another controversy hounded Willie on last August 3, 2009 episode of Wowowee. In the show’s Willie of Fortune game segment, he spoke out against the insertion of a live broadcast on late President Cory Aquino’s funeral cortege. He said that he could not make people happy while the entire country was mourning the former president’s passing. The Alliance of Filipino Journalists immediately denounced his remarks as a sign of disrespect towards Aquino. Willie insists that he had no intention of defaming the former president and her family. As the controversy ballooned in the media, he went on indefinite leave and even considered to retire.

Willie thanked his co-hosts Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion and the rest of Wowowee’s crew and guest hosts who handled the show during his absence.

In the TNS nationwide TV ratings for the second week of August to present, Wowowee remained the no. 1 daytime program despite Willie’s absence.

The reason for the sudden fall in the daytime race, can be attributed of course, to the absence of its brainchild Willie Revillame.

Willie Revillame is on leave “indefinitely” because of the controversy last week when he ordered to cut the simultaneous live broadcast of the procession of President Corazon Aquino’s remains from his noontime show (click here to watch the video).

Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN’s head for corporate communications, confirmed that the Wowowee host is indeed on indefinite leave. It is not Willie’s decision but he’s been ordered by the kapamilya network to do so.

Although Willie has been absent from the noontime show since last Saturday, his leave just started last Monday. His co-hosts Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion and RR Enriquez, have taken over the show for the meantime.

On the other hand, Kris Aquino revealed last Monday night on her show Showbiz News Ngayon that Willie apologized to her and her family. Kris also made it clear that in behalf of the entire Aquino family, she accepted Willie’s apology.

Although Willie Revillame was forgiven by the Aquino family, he is still in danger of possible sanction from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and the Kapisanan ng Broadcaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).

In a letter, Diana Gozum, chairwoman of KBP standards authority, already asked the ABS-CBN management to answer the complaint of MTRCB against Revillame within five days.

Malou Santos, the Managing Head of ABS-CBN’s film outfit Star Cinema, talked to Wowowee host Willie Revillame and Pinoy Bingo Night host Kris Aquino for a possible team-up in a romantic comedy movie.

The challenge now for Star Cinema to make the Willie-Kris movie is to find ways in order to reconcile the schedule of the two stars. Willie has a daily daytime program while Kris has a daily primetime program on ABS-CBN.

It is also interesting to note that Willie Revillame is named by YES! Magazine as the country’s Most Powerful Entertainer of the Year while Kris Aquino is on 2nd place. If the Star Cinema project becomes possible, it has the potential to be the a powerful Movie that could break box-office records.

Disqualified Binibini Appears on Wowowee

Among the guest beauty queens in Wowowee last Saturday, Sandra Seifert is the only one who hasn’t been crowned yet because she was disqualified by the organizers of Bb. Pilipinas a couple of weeks ago. But she did not quit in fulfilling her dream to become a queen as she joined Miss Philippines 2009.

Sandra showcased her wit and charm as the Wowowee host Willie Revillame interviewed her. In the talent portion, she introduced her two younger brothers, one is a student and the other is an international model, and they joined her with her dance number to the delight of the crowd.

Precious Meets Willie

The last guest to participate in the game was Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman. Precious was a former host of Wowowee who got booted off the noontime program for bringing her boyfriend in the noontime show’s special tour in Hawaii. According to reports, Willie was the deciding factor for the said ouster.

Last Saturday, Willie and Precious exchanged hard-hitting wise cracks but kissed and made up in the end.

This means the Wowowee host earned P40 million for March alone.

“I pay my tax legally. Dapat kong bayaran ‘yun, obligasyon ko yun e. In fairness naman sa BIR, pinagrereport naman nila ako. Hindi naman nila ako hina-harass e,” said Willie.

Atty. Teodoro Galicia, BIR head of investigation, clarified that Willie regularly pays his taxes in his own will and not because of the “probe team.”

“Willie Revillame is a good example for big time tax-payers,” he said.

Next month, Willie is scheduled to pay P5 million as 10% of his income for April.

It was also reported last Friday that Willie Revillame is the most powerful entertainer in the country according to YES! magazine. One of the factors for the “most powerful” label that was given to him by the said publication is his daily income of P1 million a day for hosting the ABS-CBN noontime show.

Willie’s rival host from rival noontime show Joey de Leon, who is no. 10 in the “Most Powerful” list is skeptical with the ranking procedure. On his show Startalk last Saturday, Joey opined that the basis for the ranking should not be about money alone. He said another factor for being powerful is the people’s respect.

“‘Yung power ba rito ay kasali yung respeto ng tao? Ikaw ba ay walang dinaya sa buhay mo sa pagiging powerful mo? Ikaw ba’y walang ginoyo? Naging malinis ka ba o pantay sa pakikisama sa mga tao?” asked by the Eat Bulaga! host.

While ABS-CBN rules the morning block with Ruffa and Ai and Pilipinas Game KNB? beating its rival shows, GMA-7, on the other hand rules the afternoon block with Daisy Siete, Paano Ba Ang Mangarap? and Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin?

In the case of Daisy Siete, however, it was finally beaten by Parekoy last Monday afternoon. Daisy Siete received 14.8% while Parekoy got 15.3% which gained viewership because of the Wowowee. Can Parekoy maintain its lead over eartwhile leader Daisy Siete?

It’s also interesting to note that the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode last Saturday night starring Ms. Angel Locsin received a whopping 37.7 percent rating, 10% higher than second-placer The Singing Bee. It’s rival shows Bitoy’s Funniest Videos only got 20.8% and Kapuso Mo Jessica, Soho garnered 20.1%.

“Wowowee in Dubai” is the first leg of the show’s world tour sponsored by The Filipino Channel (TFC) as part of its 15th year anniversary celebration. Coincidentally, it also marked the kapamilya noontime show’s 4th year anniversary.

Liezel Garcia, a former Dubai-based scholar of Pinoy Dream Academy 2, was the first to perform with her own rendition of “Disturbia,” “Take a Bow,” and “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw.”

Dancers Luningning, Milagring, Mariposa and Saicy and alluring co-hosts Mariel Rodriguez, Valerie Concepcion and Pokwang spiced up the show.

The crowd went wild as Revillame emerged from the stage. He sang a medley of his hit singles – “Wowowee,” “Buksan Mo Papasukin Ako,” “Umaalog-alog,” “Sayaw Darling,” “Rock ‘n’ Rollin,” and “Igiling-giling.”

Charice, dubbed as the “most talented girl in the world,” left the whole Dubai Festival City concert arena in awe after her powerful rendition of Celine Dion’s “Alone” and “Because You Loved Me.”
