For the first time, Twitter, which has over 320 million users worldwide*, will be utilized to deliver the latest, personalized national election results. On the evening of May 9, after the polls close, any Twitter user with a public account can tweet @ABSCBNNews with the hashtag #HalalanResults to get a quick, personalized and automated card featuring the latest results for the presidential, vice presidential, senatorial, and party-list races.

The reply will contain the latest vote count per candidate and the percentage of votes counted, based on data that will be directly sourced from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) server.

Already the largest news organization in the nation, with the widest broadcast reach, multiple media platforms, and news bureaus here and abroad, ABS-CBN welcomes this new joint venture with Twitter as this solution enables it to deliver much-anticipated election information to people faster and easier in an innovative manner.

“This partnership with Twitter is in line with ABS-CBN News’ mission to bring news and information to every Filipino wherever they are, in the quickest, most efficient way possible. We’ve been using social media to reach and engage our audience, but this new partnership with Twitter takes it to the next level. This time, we will be able to keep people updated as the whole nation awaits the official results of the polls,” said Ging Reyes, head of ABS-CBN News.

ABS-CBN’s chief digital officer Donald Lim added that the partnership came at the right time, when people are already engaged in conversations and discussions on the elections on social media platforms, including Twitter.

“I’ve never seen Filipinos as involved and as driven to make their voices heard by putting into action the change they want for the country through their votes. We are very proud of this innovation as a result of our partnership with Twitter. Given how closely fought this election is, our auto-reply solution will help empower the public by making the latest election results available right at their fingertips,” Lim said.

Meanwhile, Pratiksha Rao, Media Partnerships, for Twitter Southeast Asia, said: “Twitter is the first place to go for political conversations throughout the national election campaign period, so there’s no doubt that Filipinos will flock to Twitter to express themselves on Election Day, as well as get live updates on election activities and voting results, too. Our first-of-its-kind partnership in Southeast Asia with ABS-CBN will enable Filipinos anywhere in the world to be among the first to know the election results, all through a simple Tweet.”
